  • This paper describes a result of the guidance and control for re-entry vehicle during TAEM phase. TAEM phase (Terminal Aerial Energy Management phase) has many conditions, such as density, velocity, and so on. Under these conditions, we have optimized trajectory and other states for guidance in TAEM phase. The optimized states consist of 7 variables, down-range, cross range, altitude, velocity, flight path angle, vehicle's azimuth and flight range. We obtained the optimized reference trajectory by DIDO tool, and used feedback linearization with neural network for control re-entry vehicle. By back propagation algorithm, vehicle dynamics is approximated to real one. New command can be decided using the approximated dynamics, delayed command input and plant output, NARMA-L2. The result by this control law shows a good performance of tracking onto the reference trajectory.

  • A MDO study of a midium-sized solar powered High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) UAV has been performed, focused on energy balance. In the MDO process, Vortex Lattice Method(VLM) is employed for the aerodynamic modeling of the vehicle, of which structural weight is estimated with the modeling proposed by Cruz. Tail volume ratios have been set as constants, while the location of tail surfaces is determined from longitudinal static stability criterion. By balancing the available energy from solar cells, battery, and altitude, with the energy-requirement of the vehicle, the possibility of continuous flight over 24-hours has been investigated. The solar radiation level is set as that of summer at the latitude of $36^{\circ}$ north. During the daytime, the aircraft climbs using solar energy, accumulating potential energy, which supplements energy balance during the night. Optimizations have been sought in size of the vehicle, its weight distribution, and flight strategy.

  • In this study, the flight test measurement data and flight test items for metal-based brake pads for transport aircraft were derived through the analysis of Korea and the U.S. aviation-related regulations, technical standards and airworthiness standards. During the flight test, the measurement items should be measured at all times, such as aircraft altitude, speed, aircraft condition, wind direction, wind speed, and air-temperature. The flight test items of the brake pad should be quantitatively evaluated for stopping performance during landing, fuse plug integrity, stopping performance at reject take-off situations, anti-skid compatibility during landing and parking brake capability. Additionally, qualitative evaluation of the flight test pilot's aircraft steering characteristics under each test condition is required. The identification of risk factors for each test item and measures to mitigate risk factors must be approved in advance before the flight test, and the risk factors must be reevaluated to maintain suitability for the flight test during the flight test, and the results must be documented.

  • General unmaned airship, in use of aviation photography, needs both airship -controller and camera-controller who work together in harmony. In oder to reduce this manpower and get the good Geographical Information Systems(GIS) data, it is necessary to use a autopilot controller which guides a exact path lines. This paper presents the autopilot control law base on classical PID control. Moreover, this paper shows the result of flight test, the procedure of gain tuning and LOS guidance algorism that is reduce a tracking error.

  • In this research, how a solar powered HALE (high altitude long endurance) UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) can climb and reach mission altitude, 18km, starting from the ground using only solar energy. A glider type aircraft was assumed as a baseline configuration which has wing area of $35.98m^2$ and aspect ratio of 25. Configuration parameters, lift and drag coefficients were calculated using OpenVSP and XFLR5 that are NASA open source programs, and climb flights were predicted through energy balance between available energy from solar power and energy necessary for a climb flight. Minimum time climb flight was obtained by minimizing flight velocities at each altitude and total time and total energy consumption to reach the mission altitude were predicted for different take off time. Also, aircraft moving distances due to westerly wind and flight speed were calculated.

  • The hypersonic glide vehicle ascends to a high altitude by a rocket booster, separates it from the booster, and glides at a hypersonic speed of Mach 5 or higher at an altitude of about 30~70 km, changing its direction in the atmosphere. Since it moves on an unpredictable flight path rather than a parabolic trajectory, it is difficult to intercept with current missile defense systems. The U.S. conducted HTV-2 and AHW flight tests in the early 2010s to confirm the possibility of hypersonic gliding flights, and recently it has been developing hypersonic glide vehicle systems such as LRHW and ARRW. China has conducted several flight tests of the DF-ZF (WU-14) glide vehicle since 2014 and has been operating it with DF-17 missiles. Russia has conducted hypersonic glide vehicle research since the former Soviet Union, but it has repeatedly failed, and recently it has been successfully tested with the Avangard (Yu-71) glide vehicle mounted on the SS-19 ICBM. In this paper, the characteristics, flight test cases, and development trends of hypersonic glide vehicles developed or currently being developed in the United States, China, Russia, Japan, India, and Europe are reviewed and summarized.

  • The propulsion system of VIA-50A airship consists of engine, generator, inverter, motor and propeller. The motor and propeller was designed that can be tilted to $120^{\circ}$ for thrust vector control. When the flight test was performed, various condition data of the airship were obtained by wireless telecommunication and analyzed in real-time. In this paper, we presented flight test results of propulsion system. Considering the designed requirement and normal range, we verified that all constituent part was operated in normal condition during the high altitude flight test.

  • The paper presented here covers the work associated with the flight control law design, ground based and in flight simulation and handling qualities assessment of the Fly-by-Wire type Aircraft (FBWA). The FBWA configurations are of the same generic form of the Korean advanced trainer. The normal acceleration (Nz) and pitch rate (q) feedback control system is employed for longitudinal axis and roll rate (p) and lateral acceleration (Ny) feedback flight control law is developed in lateral/ directional axis. The flight tests for the FBW A dynamics evaluation were executed for the target aircraft (FBWA) on the IFS (In-Flight-Simulator) aircraft . The test results showed that Level 1 handling qualities for the most unstable flight regime and Level 1/2 for the landing approach flight regime were achieved. And the designed FBWA flight control law has revealed acceptable CHR (Cooper-Harper handling qualities Ratings).
