Transmit Power and Subcarrier Allocation Schemes for Downlink OFDM Systems with Multiple Relays (하향링크 다중 중계기 직교 주파수 분할 다중 시스템을 위한 송신 전력 및 부반송파 할당 기법)

  • Wireless relay attracts great attention as a core technology of next generation wireless communication systems since it enables reliable communications and extends cell coverage by supporting shadowed users. In this paper, we Propose transmit power and subcarrier allocation scheme for downlink OFDM systems with multiple decode and forward (DF) relays to increase data rate with fixed bit error rate (BER) and sum power constraint. In simulation results, average data rate based on the proposed schemes are evaluated and compared to that of the other schemes. It is also shown that the performance loss of the proposed scheme is negligible compared to the optimal scheme, while its computational complexity is reduced considerably.

Performance Comparison of Baseband Modulation Methods in DS-CDMA Communication System (대역확산통신시스템에서 기저대역변조 방식에 따른 성능 비교)

  • It is important to use frequency resource effectively to support much more users, to maximize the DS-CDMA system performance. In this paper, we use MPSK, QAM, MFSK and PR coder as a baseband modulation method for DS-CDMA system. Increasing user's number, we compare the performance of each system using different baseband modulation method, by expecting BER performance. BPSK has generally good performance, in case of low power operation of terminal 8FSK has excellent performance relatively, PR has excellent performance when high power operation of terminal and also good for situation of excessive user's number. QAM is not suitable for DS-CDMA system.

  • ISI (Inter Symbol Interference) reduces the performance of UAComm (Underwater Acoustic Communication). This paper shows that the performance of UAComm can be improved through the spatiotemporal diversity method that is the combination of spatial diversity and temporal diversity methods. By using spatiotemporal diversity, the array aperture was reduced to increase the efficiency of the UAComm system. It is also verified using the experimental data of BLAC18 (Biomimetic Long range Acoustic Communication 18) conducted in October 2018.

  • There are two major factors of degrading the performance in the forward link of DS/CDMA systems. One is the multiple access interference (MAI) caused by using the same frequency bands simultaneously and the other is the multipath lading due to multipath propagation. PN codes which have minimum cross correlation properties among spread spectrum codes are necessary to reduce the MAI. In the conventional IS-95A system, the PN sequence has the period of $2^{15}$ and is of the length of 64 chips for spreading each data. In this case, since the length of PN code per bit is very short compared to the period of the PN code, the performance of the conventional system is not satisfied in view of suppressing the multipath interference. However, the correlation property of the PN codes at the demodulation can be improved by increasing the interval of Integration at the demodulation. This paper proposes a demodulation method to reduce the cross correlation among PN codes. The performance of the proposed demodulation method is investigated through computer simulations. We used multipath Ray lading channel and AWGN channel in the simulation. Our simulation results show the improved performance of $0.25{\sim}0.5dB$ SNR in a given BER compared to the conventional demodulation scheme.

Detection of Phase Error Due to the Doppler Effect in Low Earth Orbit Mobile Satellite Communication Network in the Presence of Interference and Rician Fading (간섭과 Rician 페이딩이 존재하는 저궤도 이동 위성 통신망에서 도플러 효과에 따르는 위상 에러의 검출)

  • In this paper, the Doppler phase error due to the relative velocity between a satellite and the earth station in communications using a low earth orbit mobile satellite is detected. The performance of BPSK system in the presence of Rician fading with Doppler phase error and interference, noise is compared with that of the system disturbed by Doppler phase error and noise only. The expression of error rate performance of BPSK system is derived as the type of complementary error function. The numerical calculation of the induced equation are performed in terms of satellite-height, orbit-eccentricity, the velocity of the earth, Rician fading parameter, signal to interference rateio (SIR), the ratio of carrier frequency and base band bit rate. The main conclusion that can be drawn from this analysis is that Rician fading channel environment with Doppler phase error and interference effect yields severe performance degradation than Do- ppler phase error and noise effect in satellite communication channel. And using the numerical calculation, we give a quantitative insight how much the satellite communication channel parameters degrade the system performance. Furthermore it is shown that an appropriate transmission power control for the performance enhancement is beneficial to the new satellite communication system planning.

  • Recently, there has been much interest in the terrestrial broadcasting of the HDTV signal. However, in the Simulcast where the NTSC and HDTV signal are transmitted using the same channel, the cochannel interference occurs which degrade the transmission performance. Recently, the GA(Grand Alliance) proposed the cochannel interference rejection system which use comb filter. However, this method shows poor performance for the NTSC carrier variation [7]. In this paper we propose a novel NTSC cochannel interference rejection system which shows improved performance for the NTSC carrier variation. In the proposed scheme, the adaptive notch filter is employed along with adaptive channel equalizer. In this paper, we also present some analytical results on the NTSC rejection performance of the GA and proposed scheme. Computer simulation results reveal that the proposed scheme outperforms order outperforms order of 10 in the BER(bit error rate) sense for the normal condition.

  • In this paper, we present an adaptive transmission system model to establish the baseline for wireless adaptive transmission using CR (Cognitive Radio) systems, and propose an adaptive transmission scheme based on IT (Interference Temperature) cognition for CR systems in the presented system environment. The proposed CR adaptive transmission scheme is the method that provides the CR user with the maximum transmit power in the range of not causing any interference to the incumbent user and guaranteeing the optimal throughput by applying CR-AMC (CR-Adaptive Modulation and Coding) in the given channel state. Simulation results show that in case of using the proposed CR adaptive transmission scheme, there is little degradation of BER performance, while causing no interference to the incumbent user. At the same time, the proposed scheme guarantees the optimal throughput to the CR user in the given channel state.

  • In this paper, we propose a ETD-turbo code(Enhanced Time Diversity turbo code) which is a novel turbo code configuration to increase the time diversity effect and analyze the performance of ETD-turbo coded MC-CDMA system. The ETD-turbo code, which is added another interleaver to the conventional turbo code structure, is consisted. Time diversity effect of the ETD-turbo code is improved by every parity bits converted into interleaver pattern. In order to the performance of the ETD-turbo code, we conduct a computer simulation about interleaver type. And we make comparison between the performance of ETD-turbo coded MC-CDMA system and the conventional turbo coded MC-CDMA system. By the simulation results, ETD-turbo code has less BER than the conventional turbo code and time delay is decreased by reducing iteration numbers. Therefore, it is defined that the performance of ETD-turbo coded MC-CDMA system is improved than the conventional turbo coded MC-CDMA system.

  • This paper deals with the performance comparison of jammer signal's angle spreading in the beamforming after the estimation of direction of arrival using 3D array antenna basis of the GPS signal. After the estimation of direction of arrival using array antenna, the beamforming is need for the direction of arrival by spatial filtering and the other direction are nulling for reducing intererence signal, it is possible to improving the received signal strength and quality. But we obtains the degraded performance by the angle spreading due to the multi-jammer signal in this process. In this paper, the MUSIC and LCMV algorithms are applied for the estimating the direction of arrival and for beamforming using the 5 types of 3D array antenna. we performs the comparison of performance by calculating the bit error rate applying the BPSK modem and the varying the azimuth and elevation angle of incoming jammer signal. As a result of simulation, the Curved (B) type 3D array antenna has a more better performance compared to the other type antenna.

Effects of Partial-band Noise Interference on the Performance of Hybrid Ds/SFH-MSK Spectrum System in Rayleigh Fading Channel (Rayleigh Fading 채널에서 DS/SFH-MSK 시스템의 성능에 대한 부분대역 잡음 간섭의 특성)

  • An error probability analysis is performed far a hybrid DS/SFH spread-spectrum system using minimum shift keying(MSK) modulation. The channel is assumed to be a Rayleigh fading channel with partial-band noise interference. Expressions are derived for the bit error rate(BER) in the context of Rician and Rayleigh fading channels, as a function of the average signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) $E_b/N_0$, the average signal-to- interference ratio(SJR) $E_b/N_J$, and channel parameters. As a result, in the fading channel with large Rician factor, K, which denotes the ratio of power of the direct and the diffused components, the partial-band interference is the worst case. On the other hand, in Rayleigh fading channel(K=0), the full-band interference($\rho$=1) brings the system to the worst case. Performance comparisons among various channels show that the factor K has much large effect on overall performance. For example, in conditions of $\rho$=0.1 and BER=$10^-2$, the system in Rician channel with K=10 requires more 1.9 dB SNR than that in AWGN channel, whereas it is less 5 dB SNR than that in the Rayleigh channel with K=0.
