A Study on Image Reconstruction using Nonlinear Spatial Filter in Impulse Noise Environments (임펄스 잡음환경에서 비선형 공간필터를 이용한 영상복원에 관한 연구)

  • According to the increase of demand for diverse multimedia services, techniques to use images as the tool of information transmission have been rapidly developed. However, impulse noise affecting the reception of image and signal error occurs in the process of digitalization and transmission of images. In order to remove this impulse noise, a nonlinear filter is generally applied and a standard median (SM) filter is representative. However, SM filter degrades the qualify of overall image by error of the edge component. Therefore, in this paper, to restore the corrupted image by impulse noise, a nonlinear spatial filter based on Min-max operation was proposed and was compared with conventional methods through simulations.

  • When we build up a 3D model from the given 2D images, linear algorithms are often used to reduce computational cost or for initialization of nonlinear algorithms. However, contemporary linear algorithms have apparently linear structures, but virtually they are implemented using SVD. The SVD is also implemented using numerical analysis algorithms that need initialization. Moreover, solutions using SVD are more difficult to analyze than closed-form solutions. To avoid from such inconvenient numerical analysis algorithms of the contemporary methods and for convenient analysis of solutions, this paper proposes a convenient linear method that produces a closed-form solution.

  • One of major research areas in the recurrent neural network is to develop stable learning algorithm. In this paper, the stable learning algorithm is developed by utilizing the evolutionary programming. The effectiveness of the proposed learning algorithm will be verified by simulating two d.0.f. robot manipulator.

  • In this paper, a nonlinear classifier of a feed-forward neural network is implemented on an FPGA chip. The feedforward neural network is implemented in hardware for fast parallel processing. After off line training of neural network, weight values are saved and used to perform forward propagation of neural processing. As an example, AND and XOR digital logic classification is conducted in off line, and then weight values are used in neural network. Experiments are conducted successfully and confirmed that the FPGA neural network hardware works well.

  • 광섬유 통신 시스템이 고속화되고 장거리를 전송하게 될 수록 편광모드 분산의 중요성은 더욱 부각되어 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 복굴절 광섬유에서 비선형 광펄스의 전파특성을 편광 모드 분산의 영향을 고려하여 시뮬레이션하였으며 이러한 현상이 발생되는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 광섬유 비션형성에 의해서 GVD(Group Velocity Dispersion)와 마찬가기로 PMD(Polarization Mode Dispersion)에서도 부분적인 보상 현상이 나타남을 수치 결과를 통해 알 수 있었다. 이러한 광 전송 시뮬레이션을 구현하기 위해서 기존의 단계분할 푸리에 방식 (SS-FM, Split-Step Fourier Method)보다 장거리 전송시 오차의 발생이 적은 단계 분할 유한 요소법)SS-FEM, Split-Step Finite Element Method)을 적용하였으며, 또한 그 단점인 수행 속도를 개선한 희귀 행렬 근사 단계 분할 유한 요소법을 제안하였다. 그 결과 제안된 방법이 기존의 푸리에 연산법이나 일반적인 유한 요소법과 비교하여 더 빠른 수행 속도를 나타내는 것을 알 수 있었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 발생모델인 DNA 코딩 기법과 진화 모델인 유전자 알고리즘을 이용한 비선형 시스템의 퍼지 모델 링에 대한 새로운 방법을 제안한다. DNA 코딩 기법은 실제 생체 분자 (bio-molecule)를 계산의 도구로 사용하는 새로운 계산 방법으로, 진화 연산과 결합하여 인공지능의 새로운 분야로 부각되고 있다. 그러나, 실제 생체 분자를 계산의 도구로 사용하기 때문에 기존의 컴퓨터에 적용하기 어렵고, 단순히 합성과 분리라는 간단한 방법으로 해를 구하기 때문에 보다 효과적인 알고리즘을 개발하여야 할 필요성이 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 DNA 코드 유전자 알고리즘을 제안하며, 제안된 방법은 비선형 시스템의 퍼지 모델링에 적용하였으며, 기존의 유전자 알고리즘과 비교를 통하여 그 우수성을 입증하였다.

  • 일반적으로 저조도 환경에서 촬영된 영상에서 컬러의 정보를 식별하는 것은 어렵다. 기존의 대표적인 영상 개선의 방법인 레티넥스(Retinex)는 연산량이 많고 원본 영상의 컬러 정보를 정확히 반영하지 못하는 문제점이 있다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 저조도 환경에서 촬영된 영상에 대해 컬러의 왜곡 문제를 개선하기 위하여 비선형 함수와 RGB 컬러 공간에서의 벡터 상수곱을 이용한 실시간 영상 개선 방법을 제안한다.

Extended Light Buffers for Efficient Visibility Operations (효율적인 가시성 연산을 위한 확장된 광 버퍼)

  • It is important issue to increase the efficiency of visibility operations in rendering since the most of rendering time is spent for performing visibility operations. In this paper, we present light buffers of area light sources, which provide efficient visibility operations from the sources. The light buffers are extended to support visibility operations not originated from the sources. We also explore their applications such as shadow generation, ray tracing and radiosity. Our experimental results show that the light buffers support more efficient visibility operations than the previously developed data structures including BSP trees, linear grids, and octrees.

A Study on Applying the Nonlinear Regression Schemes to the Low-GloSea6 Weather Prediction Model (Low-GloSea6 기상 예측 모델 기반의 비선형 회귀 기법 적용 연구)

  • Advancements in hardware performance and computing technology have facilitated the progress of climate prediction models to address climate change. The Korea Meteorological Administration employs the GloSea6 model with supercomputer technology for operational use. Various universities and research institutions utilize the Low-GloSea6 model, a low-resolution coupled model, on small to medium-scale servers for weather research. This paper presents an analysis using Intel VTune Profiler on Low-GloSea6 to facilitate smooth weather research on small to medium-scale servers. The tri_sor_dp_dp function of the atmospheric model, taking 1125.987 seconds of CPU time, is identified as a hotspot. Nonlinear regression models, a machine learning technique, are applied and compared to existing functions conducting numerical operations. The K-Nearest Neighbors regression model exhibits superior performance with MAE of 1.3637e-08 and SMAPE of 123.2707%. Additionally, the Light Gradient Boosting Machine regression model demonstrates the best performance with an RMSE of 2.8453e-08. Therefore, it is confirmed that applying a nonlinear regression model to the tri_sor_dp_dp function during the execution of Low-GloSea6 could be a viable alternative.

DPA-Resistant Low-Area Design of AES S-Box Inversion (일차 차분 전력 분석에 안전한 저면적 AES S-Box 역원기 설계)

  • In the recent years, power attacks were widely investigated, and so various countermeasures have been proposed, In the case of block ciphers, masking methods that blind the intermediate values in the algorithm computations(encryption, decryption, and key-schedule) are well-known among these countermeasures. But the cost of non-linear part is extremely high in the masking method of block cipher, and so the inversion of S-box is the most significant part in the case of AES. This fact make various countermeasures be proposed for reducing the cost of masking inversion and Zakeri's method using normal bases over the composite field is known to be most efficient algorithm among these masking method. We rearrange the masking inversion operation over the composite field and so can find duplicated multiplications. Because of these duplicated multiplications, our method can reduce about 10.5% gates in comparison with Zakeri's method.
