  • Most of the previously proposed methods for the frailty model do not work well when there are many tied observations. This is partly because the empirical likelihood used is not suitable for tied observations. In this paper, we propose a new method for the frailty model with many ties. The proposed method obtains the posterior distribution of the parameters using the binomial form empirical likelihood and Bayesian bootstrap. The proposed method yields stable results and is computationally fast. To compare the proposed method with the maximum marginal likelihood approach, we do simulations.

  • Crossover trials of new drugs in the treatment of angina pectoris, which frequently use treadmill exercise test for the assessment of its efficacy, produce censored survival times. In this paper we consider analysis approaches for censored survival times from crossover trials. Previously, a stratified Cox model for paired observation and nonparametric methods have been presented as possible analysis methods. On the other hand, the differences of two survival times would produce interval-censored survival times and we propose a Cox model for interval-censored data as n alternative analysis method. Example data is analyzed in order to compare these different methods.

  • The NHPP software reliability models for failure analysis can have, in the literature, exhibit either constant, monotonic increasing or monotonic decreasing failure occurrence rates per fault. In this paper, finite failure NHPP models that assuming the expected value of the defect and infinite failures NHPP models that repairing software failure point in time reflects the situation, were presented for comparing property. Commonly used in the field of software reliability based on Rayleigh distribution software reliability model finite failures and infinite failures were presented for comparison problem. As a result, infinite fault model is effectively finite fault models, respectively. The parameters estimation using maximum likelihood estimation was conducted. In this research, can be able to help software developers for considering software failure property some extent.

  • This paper considers a probability density estimation problem of climate values. In particular, we focus on estimating probability densities of summer extreme temperature over South Korea. It is known that the probability density of climate values at one location is similar to those at near by locations and one doesn't follow well known parametric distributions. To accommodate these properties, we use a mixture of conditional autoregressive species sampling model, which is a nonparametric Bayesian model with a spatial dependency. We apply the model to a dataset consisting of summer maximum temperature and minimum temperature over South Korea. The dataset is obtained from University of East Anglia.

  • In this study, reliability software cost model considering logarithmic fault detection rate based on observations from the process of software product testing was studied. Adding new fault probability using the Goel-Okumoto model that is widely used in the field of reliability problems presented. When correcting or modifying the software, finite failure non-homogeneous Poisson process model. For analysis of software cost model considering the time-dependent fault detection rate, the parameters estimation using maximum likelihood estimation of inter-failure time data was made. In this research, Software developers to identify the best time to release some extent be able to help is considered.

  • Option pricing models using L$\acute{e}$evy processes are suggested as an alternative to the Black-Scholes model since empirical studies showed that the Black-Sholes model could not reflect the movement of underlying assets. In this paper, we investigate whether the Variance Gamma model can reflect the movement of underlying assets in the Korean stock market better than the Black-Scholes model. For this purpose, we estimate parameters and perform likelihood ratio tests using KOSPI 200 data based on the density for the log return and the option pricing formula proposed in Madan et al. (1998). We also calculate some statistics to compare the models and examine if the volatility smile is corrected through regression analysis. The results show that the option price estimated under the Variance Gamma process is closer to the market price than the Black-Scholes price; however, the Variance Gamma model still cannot solve the volatility smile phenomenon.

  • Most of the studies on stock price predictability using the linear model conclude that there are little possibility to predict the future price movement. But some anomalous patterns may be generated by remaining market inefficiency or regulation, market system that is facilitated to prevent the market failure. And these anomalous pattern, if exist, make them difficult to predict the stock price movement with linear model. In this study, I try to find the anomalous pattern using the ANN model. And by comparing the predictability of ANN model with the predictability of correspondent linear model, I want to show the importance of recognitions of anomalous pattern in stock price prediction. I find that ANN model could have the superior performance measured with the accuracy of prediction and investment return to correspondent linear model. This result means that there may exist the anomalous pattern that can't be recognized with linear model, and it is necessary to consider the anomalous pattern to make superior prediction performance.

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the efficiency change and determinants of the korean non-life insurance companies. we use DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) model to measure company efficiency change and use GLS, Tobit model, FIixed effect model, Random effect model, GMM to measure efficiency determinants. we utilize ten non-life insurance companies in korea and the panel data for five from 2001 to 2005. The empirical results show the following findings. First, technical efficiency shows that approximately 15.5% of inefficiency exists on the non-life insurance companies and it reveals that the cause for technical inefficiency is due to scale inefficiency. Second, Dea Window results show that the stable dissimilarity by standard deviation, LDP of CCR. Third, the results of efficiency determinants show that increase efficiency is depend on the premium income and real estates.

  • Gangwon-do is one of Korea's most popular tourist destinations, with varying tourism demands and trends across its subregions. It is crucial to identify the characteristics of tourism in each area and compare the tourism patterns over time to devise policies that revitalize tourism in each local government and promote balanced development across regions. In this paper, we classify the regions in Gangwon-do based on tourism data from the last four years and analyze the tourism pattern of each region using the non-Euclidean additive model proposed by Jeon et al. (2021). The model incorporates the proportions of visitors by age groups and the proportions of navigation searches by destination types as two covariates, and the proportions of tourism expenditure types as a response variable. We estimate the model using the smooth-backfitting method and coordinate-wise bandwidth selection. The results are visualized in ternary plots, and changes in tourism patterns over time are analyzed by comparing the ratios of prediction errors to fitting errors.
