The present study aimed to investigate the effect of whole wheat cookie supplemented with Capsosiphon fulvescens (CF) extract on serum glucose homeostasis in C57BL/6 mice. This study examined whether the same effect was demonstrated for whole wheat cookie in comparison to previous research documenting the glucose-lowering effect of food products combined with CF extract. Mice were divided into three groups depending on the diet administered: normal cookie (NC), whole wheat cookie (WC), and WC blended with CF extract (WCFE). After 4 weeks of administering the experimental diet, the blood glucose level, serum insulin level, and homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance index were found to be significantly lower in the WCFE group than in the NC and WC groups. These results suggest that whole wheat cookie containing CF extract is effective in preventing insulin resistance and maintaining blood glucose homeostasis.
Recently, there are many efforts focused on development of more economical non-fluorinated membranes for PEMFCs (Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells). In this study, sulfonated poly (ether ether ketone) (sPEEK) membrane reinforced with poly imide was made to enhance of membrane durability. In order to test durability of single (un-reinforced) membrane and reinforced membrane MEA (Membrane and Electrode Assembly), degradation accelerated stress test was used. Before and after degradation, I-V polarization curve, hydrogen crossover current, electrochemical surface area, membrane resistance and charge transfer resistance were measured. As a result of experiments, hydrogen crossover current of reinforced MEA was lower than that of single MEA, therefor durability of reinforced MEA was higher than that of single MEA. There was not especially short phenomena in reinforced MEA after degradation accelerated stress test.

Single cell performance has been investigated and characterized with variables in the fabrication of DMFC anode. The performance was checked as a function of ionomer content which affects ion conductivity in the catalyst layer, and catalyst slurry solvent which determines structure of agglomerates consisting of an ionomer and a catalyst. Anode with total ionomer to catalyst ratio of 0.6 showed the best performance and the lowest polarization resistance. Also, electrochemically effective surface area increased with ionomer content. As solubility of the ionomer decreases with decreasing solvent polarity, the size of agglomerates consisting of a catalyst and an ionomer became larger in the less polar solvent. The anode using DPK $(\varepsilon=12.60)$ as a solvent, which is less polar than generally-used water or alcohol species, showed the maximum performance and the lowest polarization resistance.

This paper proposes a charge-pump phase-locked loop (PLL) with 51-phase output clock of a 125 MHz target frequency. The proposed PLL uses three voltage controlled oscillators (VCOs) to generate 51-phase clock and increase of maximum operating frequency. The 17 delay-cells consists of each VCO, and a resistor averaging scheme which reduces the phase mismatch among 51-phase clock combines three VCOs. The proposed PLL uses a 65 nm 1-poly 9-metal CMOS process with 1.0 V supply. The simulated peak-to-peak 지터 of output clock is 0.82 ps at an operating frequency of 125 MHz. The differential non-linearity (DNL) and integral non-linearity (INL) of the 51-phase output clock are -0.013/+0.012 LSB and -0.033/+0.041 LSB, respectively. The operating frequency range is 15 to 210 MHz. The area and power consumption of the implemented PLL are $580{\times}160{\mu}m^2$ and 3.48 mW, respectively.
Purpose: To evaluate radiation sensitivity of dendritic cells in comparison with lymphocytes. Materials and methods: T lymphocytes captured from peripheral blood were irradiated by 0 Gy, 10 Gy, 30 Gy. Apoptosis was measured by flowcytometry for staining of Annexin V 4 hours after irradiation. Immature and mature dendritic cells processed from blood hematopoietic stem cell were irradiated by 0 Gy, 10 Gy, 30 Gy, 100 Gy respectively and apoptosis was measured by flowcytometry with time difference as 4h, 24h and 48h after irradiation. Morphometric analysis by percent nucleus was measured in three cell groups, also. Results: Lymphocytes showed radiation sensitivity by increasing apoptotic fraction according to radiation dose. However, both mature and immature dendritic cells showed consistent fraction of apoptosis in spite of increasing radiation dose. Percent nucleus ratio is significantly higher in lymphocytes than that of mature or immature dendritic cells. Stimulation of T-cell by dendritic cells was not changed after irradiation. Conclusion: Dendritic cells showed radioresistance which was associated with small size of nucleus in comparison with lymphocytes and this result would be used as a basal data of radio-labelling for the cellular trafficking studios in nuclear medicine fields.
Fischer 344 rats aged six weeks were diYided into four groups and group 1, 2, and 3 of rats were given an intraperitoneal injection of diethylnitrosamine at 200 mg/kg body weight and group 4 was given saline alone. Two weeks after beginning of the experiment, group 1 and 2 of rats were begun to feed on diets containing 0.02% 2-acetylaminofluorene as a promoter for four weeks. Three weeks after beginning of the experiment, all groups were performed partial hepatectomy. During the last two weeks, group 1 and 3 of rats were received subcutaneously 3 consecutive weekly doses of iron dextran at 0.125 ml/100 g body weight. Subcutaneous injection of iron dextran resulted in hepatic siderosis in group 1 and 3 of rats. Pre neoplastic nodules were identified histopathologically by two markers, resistance to exogenous iron accumulation and glutathione S-transeferase placental form (GST-P) activity, while early carcinogen induced foci were hardly resistant to iron accumulation and though a few lesions were identified, it could hardly be distincted from normal hepatocytes of surroundings. However, GST-P positive nodules as well as foci were clearly distincted from normal hepatic cells of surroundings. In the quantitative analysis of carcinogen-induced nodules and foci, more lesions were detected by immunohistochemical method for GST-P than by prussian blue staining for resistant to iron accumulation. It is concluded that immunohistochemical marker for GST-P is more sensitive and reliable than iron-resistance marker, and that iron-resistance is not useful marker for early detection of carcinogen-induced hepatic lesions.

An ice-making model has been developed and analyzed in this study. The effects of the following on the ice formation on the outer surface of a tube in which a refrigerant flows and boils are numerically investigated: thermal resistance of the refrigerant and thermal resistance of the ice formed on the outer surface of the tube. The ice thickness and related variables are analyzed in the case of the refrigerants R22 and R134a by using the expressions for phase-change heat transfer and boiling heat transfer coefficient. Vapor qualities of the refrigerants range from 0 to 0.8. As a result, up to the first 30 min, the internal convection resistance is higher than the thermal resistance of the ice on the external surface of the tube. However, after about 30 min, the thermal resistance of the ice increases remarkably due to the increase in the ice thickness. Thus, the heat flux to the refrigerant decreases, and further, the refrigerant quality and the boiling heat transfer coefficient also decrease. As the heat transfer coefficient of R22 is higher than that of R134a, the mass of the ice formed when R22 is used is higher than that formed when R134a is used.
In this study, effects of pyrite ($FeS_2$) particle sizes on the electrochemical characteristics of thermal batteries are investigated using unit cells made of pulverized pyrite by ball-milling. At $450^{\circ}C$ unit cell discharge test, the electrochemical capacity of $1.46{\mu}m$ pyrite-cell largely increases compared to $98.4{\mu}m$ pyrite-cell, and their internal resistances also decrease. These results are attributed to the increase in the active reaction area of pyrite by ball milling. However, at $500^{\circ}C$ unit cell discharge test, a $1.46{\mu}m$ pyrite cell shows lower internal resistance than that of $98.4{\mu}m$ pyrite cell only at Z-phase region ($FeS_2{\rightarrow}Li_3Fe_2S_4$). After that, a $1.46{\mu}m$ pyrite cell shows a decrease in the cell voltage and an rapid increase of the internal resistance in J-phase region ($Li_3Fe_2S_4{\rightarrow}LiFe_2S_4$) is observed compared to those of $98.4{\mu}m$ pyrite cell. It can be concluded that at the higher temperature, the thermally unstable pulverized pyrite is decomposed thermally as well as self discharged, simultaneously, which causes the higher resistance and lower capacity at $500^{\circ}C$ in J-phase than that of $98.4{\mu}m$ pyrite cell.
There are many types of remodeling, however, engineers and architectures preferred to merge two or more separate units to one very spacious unit. Performing this type of remodeling, in the case of wall dominant apartments, requires partial removal of structural wall causing a concern of structural integrity. However, there are insufficient studies about partial removal, that is, openings. Presently, ACI standard have no clear way to evaluate the effect of opening on the structural wall. AIJ has the provision about strength reduction factor '$\gamma$'. However, this reduction factor cannot exactly evaluate the reduction effect of openings because this factor '$\gamma$' was determined through the elastic analysis. Therefore, in this study, 2 structural wall specimens were tested and many test results from previous studies were collected. Using these data, this study performed statistical analysis about strength of structural wall which have the opening in wall panel. And this study performed parametric study verifying shear strength reducing effect by opening area. In the results of statistical study, previous reduction factor show very conservative results because this equation did not consider other factors, reinforcement ratio and aspect ratio of openings, which was affect the shear strength of shear walls. Therefore we performed parametric study based on the test data and suggest new equation for shear strength reduction factor '$\gamma$'.

In this paper, we designed a low-area 32-bit PF (Poly-fuse) OTP IP, a non-volatile memory that stores data required for analog circuit trimming and calibration. Since one OTP cell is constructed using two PFs in one select transistor, a 1cell-2bit multibit PF OTP cell that can program 2bits of data is proposed. The bitcell size of the proposed 1cell-2bit PF OTP cell is 1/2 of 12.69㎛ × 3.48㎛ (=44.161㎛2), reducing the cell area by 33% compared to that of the existing PF OTP cell. In addition, in this paper, a new 1 row × 32 column cell array circuit and core circuit (WL driving circuit, BL driving circuit, BL switch circuit, and DL sense amplifier circuit) are proposed to meet the operation of the proposed multbit cell. The layout size of the 32bit OTP IP using the proposed multibit cell is 238.47㎛ × 156.52㎛ (=0.0373㎛2) is reduced by about 33% compared that of the existing 32bit PF OTP IP using a single bitcell, which is 386.87㎛ × 144.87㎛ (=0.056㎛2). The 32-bit PF OTP IP, designed with 10 years of data retention time in mind, is designed with a minimum programmed PF sensing resistance of 10.5㏀ in the detection read mode and of 5.3 ㏀ in the read mode, respectively, as a result of post-layout simulation of the test chip.
