Evaluation of Effects on Impact Resonance Test for Determining Modulus of Asphalt Concrete (아스팔트 콘크리트 탄성계수 결정을 위한 충격공진시험 영향요소 평가)

  • The stiffness of the asphalt concrete is represented by the complex modulus $E^*$, which is very important properties in the mechanistic design of flexible pavement system. The moduli of asphalt concrete were generally determined by dynamic modulus test. However, the dynamic modulus testing method is too complex, expensive, and time consuming to be applicable on a production basis. The IR(Impact Resonance) method has been shown to be a truly simple nondestructive testing method which produces very repetitive, consistent results. The major object of this study was to estimate of the effects on IR tests for determining modulus of asphalt concrete including impact position, specimen support condition, impact steel ball size and sampling rate. The variations of IR test results with various testing conditions are within ${\pm}2.7%$.

Identifying Strain Associated with Damping Ratio from Tosional Test Using a Combined Damping Model (복합감쇠모델을 이용한 비틂 시험기로 얻은 감쇠비에 상응하는 변형률 산정)

  • The complexity of determining strain associated with shear modulus and damping ratio in torsional tests has been resolved by means of several approaches. Particularly, the modified equivalent radius approach is adequate to when generating the plots of equivalent radius ratio versus strain more effectively over any range of strains in resonant column and torsional shear (RC/TS) tests. The modified equivalent radius approach was applied for hyperbolic, modified hyperbolic, and Ramberg-Osgood models in evaluating damping ratio. Results showed that using a single value of equivalent radius ratio based on conventional equivalent radius approach is not appropriate. A new model was developed to consider the soil damping behavior at small strains as well as hysteretic damping and it was attempted to determine adjustments are required in evaluating strain associated damping when combining the two damping components.

  • 물질의 진동감쇠 특성을 평가하는 대표적인 시험법은 ISO 6721, ASTM E 756 등에서 찾아 볼 수 있다. 이들 규격에서는 비접촉 가진방법으로 전자석 시스템을 사용한다. 하지만 이와 같은 방법은 강판 단독으로의 시험은 간편하나 비자성체 물질이나 도료를 도포 할 경우, 별도의 금속판이 필요하다. 또한 그에 따른 금속판의 감쇠특성을 별도로 평가해야 되며, 접착제에 대한 영향도 고려해야 된다. 이에 대한 보완으로 음압가진 방법을 이용한 비접촉 가진을 강철과 플라스틱에 적용하였다. 실험결과, 강철과 플라스틱의 공진주파수에 따른 손실계수와 탄성계수는 전자석을 이용한 실험결과와 일치하였다.

Dynamic Response Analysis of Nonlinear Sloshing in Two Dimensional Rectangular Tank using Finite Element Method (유한요소법을 이용한 2차원 사각탱크내 비선형 슬로싱 동응답 해석)

  • This paper deals with the FEM analysis of nonlinear sloshing of incompressible, invicid and irrotational flow in two dimensional rectangular tank. We use laplace equation based on potential theory as governing equation. For large amplitude sloshing motion, kinematic and dynamic free surface conditions derived from Bernoulli equation are applied. This problem is solved by FEM using 9-node elements. For the time integration and accurate velocity calculation, we introduce predictor-corrector time marching scheme and least square method. Also, numerical stability in tracking of free surface is obtained by direct calculation of free surface location to time variation. Numerical results of sloshing induced by harmonic excitations, while comparing with those of linear theory and references, prove the accuracy and stability. After verification of our program, we analyze sloshing response characteristics to the fluid height and the excitation amplitude.

  • In this paper, characteristics of the wide band microstrip antennas with parasistic element are analyzed by the Finite Difference Time Domain(FDTD) method, and antenna parameters are optimized to get maximum bandwidth, retern loss, input impedance, and radiation pattern are calculated by Founier transforming the time domain results. The characteristics of the antenna are varied and the bandwidth of the antenna is broaded as a length and a width of the driven element, a gap of the driven element and the parasitic element, a width and a length of parasitic element. So the different patchs are resonating at different frequencies and this multipule resonance increase the bandwidth. The Results of the calculation and measurement, the size of the antenna with parasitic element is about a twice larger than a microstrip antenna, but bandwidth is four times better than a microstrip antenna. And these results were in relatively good accordance with the measured values.

  • 본 논문은 중공형 층상 복합체 멘드릴(mandrel)을 이용하여 기본 공진주파수가 15kHz이상이고, 우수한 감도 특성을 지닌 광섬유 하이드로폰의 최적 구조를 설계하는 것에 관한 것이다. 유한요소법을 이용하여 Al/foraming 및 Nylon/foaming층상 복합체의 공지주 파수를 분석하여 설계 변수의 범위를 결정하였고, 멘드릴 형상에 따른 광음향 감도 특성을 분석하여 최적구조를 결정하였다. 그 결과로 멘드릴의 외경이 감소할수록, 길이가 증가할수 록 감도가 향상되었다. AL 멘드릴의 경우, 내경/외경 비가 낮을수록, Nylon멘드릴의 경우 내경/외경 비가 높을수록 감도 증가를 위하여 효율적이다. 그리고 결정된 최적구조의 Al/foaming 및 Nylon/foaming멘드릴을 사용한 광섬유 하이드로폰의 감도는 각각 1rad./Pa 대비 약 82dB 및 85.7dB 정도 이었고, Al층상 복합체 보다는 Nylon층상 복합체를 이용하는 것이 고 감도의 광섬유 하이드로폰을 제조하는데 유리함을 알 수 있었다.

  • The precise measurement technique for dielectric constent of high-loss nonmagnetic materials is described. This technique use6 is based upon cavity resonance method and impedance method. Dielectric constant can be calculated from simple formulas without using transcen-dental equations. The error contained in x-band yields loss tangent, 3%, and dielertric constant, 1%, for materials filled in cross section of waveguide.

  • The signal pattern recognition program which can perform signal acquisition and processing, the extraction and selection of features, the classifier design and the evaluation, is developed and applied to the classification of artificial defects in the weld zone of Austenitic STS304. The neural network classifier is compared with the linear discriminant function classifier and the empirical Bayesian classifier. The signal through a broadband sensor is compared with that through a resonance type sensor. In recognition rate, the neural network classifier is best, and the signal through a broadband sensor is better.

  • Field penetration and scattering characteristics of two dimensional open cylindrical cavity is studied. Exact analysis for this sort of structure is not achieved even if there are unusual phenomena of field penetration and scattering with cavity and aperture size. In this paper, we calculate a wide range of open cavity characteristics by using of FMM method, which is extended method of MOM. We find external mode of open cylindrical cavity corresponding to internal mode of closed cavity. The characteristics of resonance and scattering of this region is different compare with non resonant area. The result of study will apply to the EM wave shielding and RCS control.

  • Characteristics of monopole antenna and planar conductor structure mounted on handheld telephone are anlayzed by using FDTD method. Feeding of monopole antenna is implemented with lumped elements and plastic case is coated on the surface of conductor box. Otherwise, resonant frequency of handheld telephone mounting monopole antenna with no plastic case is 877MHz, when plastic case (${\varepsilon}_r=2$) is coated, the resonant frequency is down to 82MHz and the bandwidth is broadened about 1.5 times. Planar structure of handheld telephone mounted on the body makes to change far-field gain radiation patterns. In this case, radiation patterns are somewhat asymmetrical. Handheld telephone using PIFA(Planar Inverted F Antenna), instead of monopole antenna, is resonated at frequency 1.52GHz that is available onPCS. In the radiation pattern of this structure, azimuth that electric field intensity is presented below 20dB is 14$^{\circ}$.
