Error Concealment Using Gradient Vectors in H.264 Decoder (H.264 디코더에서 기울기 벡터를 이용한 에러복원 방법)

  • Recent advances in information technology have resulted in rapid growth in the mobile communication. With this explosive growth, reliable transmission and error concealment technique become increasingly important to offer high quality multimedia services. In this paper, we propose an improved BMA(Boundary Matching Algorithm) method using gradient vectors to conceal channel errors in inter-frames of H.264 video images. General BMA method computes the sum of pixel differences of adjacent pixels of the candidate block and its neighbouring blocks, assuming that adjacent pixels have almost the same value. In real images, however, there exist some gradients, which means that the pixel values are increasing or decreasing in a specific direction. In this paper, we develop a precise estimation method of errors in candidates blocks using gradient information and try to recover lost blocks with this technique. Experimental results show the improvement of picture quality about $1{\sim}3dB$ compared to existing methods.

  • Decentralized approaches are extensively researched by academia and industry in order to cover up the flaws of existing systems in terms of data privacy. Blockchain and decentralized learning are prominent representatives of a deconcentrated approach. Blockchain is secure by design since the data record is irrevocable, tamper-resistant, consensus-based decision making, and inexpensive of overall transactions. On the other hand, decentralized learning empowers a number of devices collectively in improving a deep learning model without exposing the dataset publicly. To motivate participants to use their resources in building models, a decent and proportional incentive system is a necessity. A centralized incentive mechanism is likely inconvenient to be adopted in decentralized learning since it relies on the middleman that still suffers from bottleneck issues. Therefore, we design an incentive model for decentralized learning applications by leveraging the Ethereum smart contract. The simulation results satisfy the design goals. We also outline the concerns in implementing the presented scheme for sensitive data regarding privacy and data leakage.

A Study on the Crime Investigation of Anonymity-Driven Blockchain Forensics (익명 네트워크 기반 블록체인 범죄 수사방안 연구)

  • With the widespread use of digital devices, anonymous communication technologies such as the dark web and deep web are becoming increasingly popular for criminal activity. Because these technologies leave little local data on the device, they are difficult to track using conventional crime investigation techniques. The United States and the United Kingdom have enacted laws and developed systems to address this issue, but South Korea has not yet taken any significant steps. This paper proposes a new blockchain-based crime investigation method that uses physical memory data analysis to track the behavior of anonymous network users. The proposed method minimizes infringement of basic rights by only collecting physical memory data from the device of the suspected user and storing the tracking information on a blockchain, which is tamper-proof and transparent. The paper evaluates the effectiveness of the proposed method using a simulation environment and finds that it can track the behavior of dark website users with a residual rate of 77.2%.

  • The new dinuclear CGC (constrained geometry complexes) with indenyl and methyl sub-stituted indenyl and polymethylene bridge have been synthesized, and the copolymerization of ethylene and styrene has been studied in the presence of methylalumionoxane. The activity of 12-methylene and 9-methylene bridged dinuclear CGC were 4 times higher than that of 6-methylene bridged dinucleay CGC. This result might be understood by the implication that the steric effect rather than the electronic effect nay play a major role to direct the polymerization behavior of the dinuclear CGC. The dinuclear CGCs are very efficient to incorporate styrene in backbone. The styrene contents in the formed co-polymers ranged from 6 to 45 mol% according to the polymerization conditions. The melting temperature of copolymers disappeared at high content of styrene (about 11 mol%) There is no styrene-styrene diblock sequence in copolymers. This result Indicates that the dinuclear CGC are very effective to generate random copolymer of ethylene and styrene.

Joint Base Station and Relay Precoder Design with Relay Local Channel State Information for Multi-relay Aided Multi-user All-MIMO System (다중 릴레이, 다중 사용자 All-MIMO 시스템에서 릴레이 지역 채널 정보를 사용한 기지국 및 릴레이 전처리기 공동 설계 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose a joint base station(BS) and relay precoders design in multi-relay aided multi-user all-multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) system. The design criterion is to minimize user sum mean square error(SMSE) with relay sum power constraint(RSPC) where only local channel state information(CSI)s are available at relays. Local CSI at a relay is defined as the CSI of the channel which the relay itself accesses, out of among all the 1st hop and the 2nd hop channel in the system. With BS precoder structure which is concatenated with block diagonalization(BD) precoder, each relay can determine its own precoder using only local CSI. Proposed scheme is based on sequential iteration of two stages; stage 1 determines BS precoder and relay precoders jointly with SMSE duality, and stage 2 determines user receivers. Proposed scheme can be demonstrated theoretically to be always converge. We verify that proposed scheme outperforms simple amplify-and-forward(SAF), MMSE relay, and proposed schemes in [1] in terms of both SMSE and sum-rate performances.

  • An algorithm for the threshold decision from the maximum mismatching correlation value in a direct-sequence spread-spectrum system is presented. This algorithm is named the TDMMC(Threshold Decision from the Maximum Mismatching Correlation value). The purpose of the algorithm is to set the decision threshold in the system which will provide large probability of signal detection. Using this algorithm, the proper setting of the threshold for various SNRs is possible. An additional block called the Threshold Block is used to improve the system performance. The result from the computer simmulation has shown that appling the TDMMC to the noncoherent DS/SS-CSK system can achieve performance improvement.

  • In this paper, we suggest a new technique for WPC parity-check matrix (H-matrix) generation and a corresponding decoding process. The key idea is to construct WPC H-matrix by using a convolutional encoder. It is easy to have many different coderates from a mother code with convolutional codes. However, it is difficult to have many different coderates with LDPC codes. Constructing LDPC Hmatrix based on a convolutional code can easily bring the advantage of convolutional codes to have different coderates. Moreover, both LDPC and convolutional decoding algorithms can be applied altogether in the decoding part. This process prevents the performance degradation of short-length WPC code.

Video Object Segmentation using Kernel Density Estimation and Spatio-temporal Coherence (커널 밀도 추정과 시공간 일치성을 이용한 동영상 객체 분할)

  • A video segmentation algorithm, which can extract objects even with non-stationary backgrounds, is proposed in this work. The proposed algorithm is composed of three steps. First, we perform an initial segmentation interactively to build the probability density functions of colors per each macro block via kernel density estimation. Then, for each subsequent frame, we construct a coherence strip, which is likely to contain the object contour, by exploiting spatio-temporal correlations. Finally, we perform the segmentation by minimizing an energy function composed of color, coherence, and smoothness terms. Experimental results on various test sequences show that the proposed algorithm provides accurate segmentation results.

  • In this paper we propose a system where we divide the group with 2 symbols. The two added symbols are separated by multiplexing and later added using the DE-multiplexing technique. In our proposed system a simple Partial Interference Cancelation (PIC) group decoding scheme is used for Double-ABBA(D-ABBA) Quasi-Orthogonal Space Time Code, which reduces the decoding complexity for the higher order Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) space time block coding. Finally we compare the proposed scheme performance using the different modulation schemes.

  • This paper presents an effective call admission control algorithm using the Common Pool on the virtual path in ATM networks. Call admission control decides whether or not to accept a new call, so as to ensure the service quality of both individiual existing calls and of the new call itself. In the proposed algorithm, a new call is accepted when the sum of the bandwidths of existing calls and of the new call will not exceed lind capacity. If the sum of their bandwidths exceed link capacity, reserved bandwidth of Common Pool is considreed to accept the new call. Computer simulation results using a simuple network model are algorithm given to evaluate accuracy and call blocking probability by the proposed method.
