  • This study is to examine the structural relationships between relationship learning, their antecedents such as transaction specific assets, and environmental uncertainty, and long-term orientation, overall satisfaction and recontracting intention in the context of the foodservice franchise industry. The data is analyzed with structural equation modeling with Amos 5.0 and SPSS 14.0. The result of the overall model analysis appeared as follows: $x^2=57.75$, df=9, p=0.00, GFI=0.95, AGFI=0.81, RMSR=0.03, NFI=0.92, CFI=0.93. Since the result of the overall model analysis demonstrated a good fit, we could further analyze our data. The results of this study are as follows: First, information sharing of relationship learning had a significantly positive effect on long-term orientation. Second, information sharing of relationship learning did not have a significantly positive effect on overall satisfaction. Third, shared interpretation of relationship learning had a significantly positive effect on long-term orientation and overall satisfaction. Fourth, developing memories of relationship learning did not have a significantly positive effect on long-term orientation and overall satisfaction. Fifth, overall satisfaction had a significantly positive effect on long-term orientation. Sixth, long-term orientation and overall satisfaction had a significantly positive effect on recontracting intention. Finally, transaction specific assets and environmental uncertainty had a significantly positive effect on relationship learning. At the end of this paper, limitations, further research directions, and implications are suggested.

  • The objective of this study is to identify the community living experiences of married immigrant women in rural areas. For this purpose, we conducted qualitative research by sampling 14 married immigrant women who had lived in Korea for over three years by having in depth interviews with them. This study employed the grounded theory method suggested by Strauss and Corbin(1998). When raw data from in depth interviews with the participants were processed by open coding through the continuous comparison method with theoretical sensitivity, a total of 13 categories, 27 sub.categories, and 71 concepts were extracted. In case of axial coding, according to the results of analyzing through the paradigm procedure, the causal conditions for the community living experiences of married immigrant women in rural areas were 'Uncertain start' and 'Confront practical problems,' and the central phenomenon was 'Search for existence to participate in community activities.' Contextual conditions affecting the phenomenon was 'Regret international marriage,' 'Experience conflicts,' and 'Look with negative prejudices,' 'Overcome the actual' and action/interaction strategies were 'Look for a breakthrough of life' and 'Manage to acceptance.' Intervening conditions for promoting or suppressing the action/interaction strategies for the central phenomenon were 'Social support system' and 'local limitations,' and as a result, the community living experiences of married immigrant women in rural areas appeared to 'Prepare the future,' 'Hope continuous social activities,' and 'Expect public support systems.'

  • UV-VIS spectrophotometric and high-performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC-DAD) methods were applied in order to identify and quantify the composition of polyphenols in commercial cocoa-containing products. Total polyphenolic contents of cocoa mix, choco-syrup, milk chocolate, and dark chocolate were evaluated using Folin-Ciocalteu's phenol reagent according to a UV-VIS spectrometric method. Antioxidant capacities of cocoa extracts by methanol were evaluated by 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethyl benzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) assay and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay. The obtained results show that the polyphenolic contents and antioxidant capacities of cocoa products and chocolates depend on solid cocoa content. Among the tested cocoa products and chocolates, the most abundant phenolic compound was epicatechin.

  • Purpose: Adequate health-related information provided by health professionals may help cancer patients overcome their uncertain situation and manage their healthcare. To provide information effectively, there is a need to understand the content of the patients' essential information. The purpose of this study was to identify recent informational needs of postoperative gastric cancer patients. Materials and Methods: Data were collected from 190 postoperative gastric cancer patients who attended the Stomach Cancer Patients' Day ceremony (18 November 2008) held by the Stomach Cancer Center of Samsung Medical Center with the use of a questionnaire which measured informational needs. A questionnaire with 37 items was comprised of domains of diagnostic tests, cancer therapy, prognosis, follow-up, sexual activity, stomach cancer-related information, and 7 single items. Results: The priorities of informational needs were the domains of prognosis, ways of healthcare during treatment (a single item), follow-up, stomach cancer-related information, cancer therapy, and diagnostic tests (in descending order). Items related to prognosis, diet, and management of their healthcare ranked in the top 10 informational need scores. As age decreased, the degree of informational needs about diagnostic tests, cancer therapy, sexual activity, and stomach cancer-related information increased. Conclusion: We suggest that prognosis-related information based on the accumulated institutional therapeutic outcomes and objective prognosis data should be incorporated in the current education program. Health professionals should provide comprehensible information content to cancer patients and caregivers and encourage patients to participate in their therapy with a more positive attitude.

  • The aim of this study was to find an analytic solution to the problem of determining the optimal capacity (lot-size) of a batch-storage network to meet demand for a finished product in a system undergoing random failures of operating time and/or batch material. The superstructure of the plant considered here consists of a network of serially and/or parallel interlinked batch processes and storage units. The production processes transform a set of feedstock materials into another set of products with constant conversion factors. The final product demand flow is susceptible to short-term random variations in the cycle time and batch size as well as long-term variations in the average trend. Some of the production processes have random variations in product quantity. The spoiled materials are treated through regeneration or waste disposal processes. All other processes have random variations only in the cycle time. The objective function of the optimization is minimizing the total cost, which is composed of setup and inventory holding costs as well as the capital costs of constructing processes and storage units. A novel production and inventory analysis, the PSW (Periodic Square Wave) model, provides a judicious graphical method to find the upper and lower bounds of random flows. The advantage of this model is that it provides a set of simple analytic solutions while also maintaining a realistic description of the random material flows between processes and storage units; as a consequence of these analytic solutions, the computation burden is significantly reduced.

  • This study presents an analysis of infrasonic signals from two accidental explosions in Gwangyang city, Jeonnam Province, Korea, on December 24, 2019, recorded at 12 infrasound stations located 151-435 km away. Infrasound propagation refracted at an altitude of ~40 km owing to higher stratospheric wind in the NNW direction, resulting in favorable detection at stations in that direction. However, tropospheric phases were observed at stations located in the NE and E directions from the explosion site because of the strong west wind jet formed at ~10 km. The transmission losses on the propagation path were calculated using the effective sound velocity structure and parabolic equation modeling. Based on the losses, the observed signal amplitudes were corrected, and overpressures were estimated at the reference distance. From the overpressures, the source energy was evaluated through the overpressure-explosive charge relationship. The two explosions were found to have energies equivalent to 14 and 65 kg TNT, respectively. At the first explosion, a flying fragment forced by an explosive shock wave was observed in the air. The energy causing the flying fragment was estimated to be equivalent to 49 kg or less of TNT, obtained from the relationship between the fragment motion and overpressure. Our infrasound propagation modeling is available to constrain the source energy for remote explosions. To enhance the confidence in energy estimations, further studies are required to reflect the uncertainty of the atmospheric structure models on the estimations and to verify the relationships by various ground truth explosions.

  • Recently, the importance prediction of photovoltaic power (PV) is considered as an essential function for scheduling adjustments, deciding on storage size, and overall planning for stable operation of PV facility systems. In particular, since most of PV power is generated in peak time, PV power prediction in a peak time is required for the PV system operators that enable to maximize revenue and sustainable electricity quantity. Moreover, Prediction of the PV power output in peak time without meteorological information such as solar radiation, cloudiness, the temperature is considered a challenging problem because it has limitations that the PV power was predicted by using predicted uncertain meteorological information in a wide range of areas in previous studies. Therefore, this paper proposes the LSTM (Long-Short Term Memory) based the PV power prediction model only using the meteorological, seasonal, and the before the obtained PV power before peak time. In this paper, the experiment results based on the proposed model using the real-world data shows the superior performance, which showed a positive impact on improving the PV power in a peak time forecast performance targeted in this study.

  • Through the output of brain waves during muscle operation, this paper checks whether it is possible to find characteristic vectors of brain waves that are capable of dividing left and right movements by extracting brain waves in specific areas of muscle signal output that include the motion of the left and right muscles or the will of the user within EEG signals, where uncertainties exist considerably. A typical surface EMG and noninvasive brain wave extraction method does not exist to distinguish whether the signal is a motion through the degree of ionization by internal neurotransmitter and the magnitude of electrical conductivity. In the case of joint and motor control through normal robot control systems or electrical signals, signals that can be controlled by the transmission and feedback control of specific signals can be identified. However, the human body lacks evidence to find the exact protocols between the brain and the muscles. Therefore, in this paper, efficiency is verified by utilizing the results of application of CSP (Common Spatial Pattern) filter to verify that the left-hand and right-hand signals can be extracted through brainwave analysis when the subject's behavior is performed. In addition, we propose ways to obtain data through experimental design for verification, to verify the change in results with or without filter application, and to increase the accuracy of the classification.

  • Water mains underground facilities are essential components to make up urban infrastructure. In order to manage these water mains underground facilities systematically and scientifically, GIS (Geographic Information System) had been constructed. For the sake of construction of GIS for water mains underground facilities, an exact underground detection and the construction of DB (Data Base) for buried water mains underground facilities should be preceded. In this study, in order to find out the ways to improve exact detection rate of data, the statistical analysis for the causes of detection raw degradation was done, and standardization methods of detection through a case study were suggested, When water mains underground facilities were measured, the detection of non-metallic water pipes was not carried out. The reason was that the results of detection was uncertain and detection was difficult because the assessment of public measurements was vulnerable. Moreover, due to the absence of standardized operating regulations for detection, systematic surveys weren't conducted. In this study, methods to standardize works over the detection of water mains underground facilities were presented so that we can improve the detection rate when we are doing that. As the proposals to improve detection rate, effective performance assessment over non-metallic pipes were presented, and related issues to supplement work regulations of public survey were described systematically.
