Stiffness and Natural Frequency of Stone Masonry pagoda (석탑문화재의 강성과 고유진동수에 관한 연구)

  • The dynamic behavior of multi-layered stone masonry monuments, such as stone pagoda, are mainly influenced by contour condition of contacting surface of stones. These structures can be modeled as a multi-degrees of freedom system. In this case the mass of the system can be easily estimated, mean while the estimation of stiffness at junction is not simple. In this paper a method for estimating the spring constant at the contacting surface of stone is proposed. The proposed method utilizes the natural frequency of the system which can be obtained by eigenvalue analysis.

  • LG Electronics developed linear compressors for a household refrigerator which can reduce energy consumption up to $24\%$ by only Drop-ln instead of a conventional reciprocating compressor. The linear compressor is composed of a linear oscillating motor, a piston directly coupled with the linear motor, a cylinder and the specific discharge system of LG. Because of this free-piston structure, the position of the piston can be changeable according to the voltage variation, load variation and so on. By this reason, LG linear compressor has been in need of an additional unit to control the position of the free-piston stably. In this paper we will introduce the innovative technology which is able to operate the linear compressor without controlling the piston position like a conventional reciprocating compressor.

Modeling of a Multi-Leaf Spring for Dynamic Characteristics Analysis of a Large Truck (대형트럭 동특성 해석을 위한 다판 스프링의 모델링)

  • This paper presents an analytical modeling technique fer representing a hysteretic behavior of a multi-leaf spring used for a large truck. It divides a nonlinear hysteretic curve of the multi-leaf spring into four parts; loading part, unloading part and two transition parts. It provides conditions fur branching to a part of the curve corresponding to a current multi-leaf spring status. This paper also presents a computational modeling technique of the multi-leaf spring. It models the multi-leaf spring with three links and a shackle. It assumes those components as rigid bodies. The links are connected by rotational joints, and have rotational springs at the joints. The spring constants of the rotational springs are computed with a force from the analytical model of the hysteretic curve of the multi-leaf spring. Static and dynamic tests are performed to verify the reliability of the presented techniques. The tests are performed with various amplitudes and excitation frequencies. The hysteretic curves from the tests are compared with those from the simulations. Since th e presented techniques reproduce the hysteretic characteristic of the multi -leaf spring faithfully, they contribute on improving the reliability of the computational model of a large truck.

  • In this study, we present a research method to develop a shoe that prevents foot injury by inducing the foot pressure. An orthogonal grid sensor was used to check the foot pressure in the upright standing position, and the change in the foot pressure distribution for various conditions was compared. We checked the conditions for distributing foot pressure efficiently by changing the spring constant of the spring inserted into the sole of the shoe and the foot pressure generated with or without the arch of the insole. In order to minimize the experimental error from the randomness of the human body's behavior, it is possible to predict through foot pressure under certain conditions through finite element analysis that simulates the pressure distribution. By checking the change of foot pressure according to the number and arrangement of springs through finite element analysis, conditions were established to provide more efficient foot pressure. The result can be used for designing footwear for patients with diabetic feet.

A Robust Controller Design for the Position Control of a Spring-Mass System (탄성-질량시스템의 위치제어를 위한 강건 제어기 설계)

  • In this paper, we design a controller using the $\mu$-synthesis method and apply it for the spring-mass system with noncollocated sensors and actuators. We assume that the values of the spring stiffness and load mass of the plant are uncertain. The plant is modeled with parametric uncertainty by using the state space equation, especially the descriptor form. The $H_\infty$ controller designed by the $\mu$-synthesis method is compared with the standard $H_\infty$ controller To compare performances of two $H_\infty$ controllers, it is assumed that both controllers were designed with same weighting functions except that the $\mu$-synthesis controller has structured uncertainties. By compared with the standard $H_\infty$ controller, we show that the designed controller has satisfactory robust performance as well as robust stability by simulations and experiments.

Influence of Spring Constant and Tip Mass at Free End on Stability of Timoshenko Cantilever Column subjected to a Follower Force (자유단의 스프링 상수와 부가 말단질량이 종동력을 받는 Timoshenko 외팔보의 안정성에 미치는 영향)

  • On the stability of the Timoshenko cantilever column subjected of a compressive follower force, the influences of the moment of inertia of the tip mass at the free end and the characteristics of a translational spring at the free end of the column are studied. The equations of motion and boundary conditions of system are estabilished by using the d'Alembert virtual work of principle. On the evaluation of stability of the column, the effect of the shear deformation and rotatory inertia is considered in calculation. The moment of inertia of the tip mass at the free end of the column is changed by adjusting the distance c, from the free end of the column to the tip mass center. The free end of the column is supported elastically by a translational spring. For the maintenance of the good stability of the column, it is also proved that the constant of the translational spring at the free end must be very large for the case without a tip mass while it must be small for the case with a tip mass. Therefore, it is found that the shape of the tip mass and the characteristic of the spring at the free end are very effective elements for the stability of the column when the columns subjected to a compressive follower force are designed.

A Study on the Composite Behavior of Simply Supported Composite Girders Considering the Partial Interaction (불완전 합성율을 고려한 단순합성형의 합성거동에 관한 연구)

  • Generally, in a steel-concrete composite gilder, the shear connector which was constructed between concrete deck and steel girder should have enough stiffness to behave as one body, because the conformity between plate and concrete deck is influences by the stiffness and spacing of the shear connectors. If the stiffness of shear connectors are insufficient, slip would happen at the contact surface. Partial interaction is the case that takes account of slips. In this paper, an easy method is presented to evaluate the stiffness or spacing of the shear connector according to the degree of imperfection without difficult calculations for a composite gilder with partial interaction. Also, the horizontal shearing force applied to the shear connector and the longitudinal axial force, which is occurs at contact surface between concrete deck and steel girder, have been presented in a simple influence line that is various to the parameters of sectional properties, degree of imperfection and applied load points. Furthermore, through the case study, it determined the relationships between the degree of imperfection and the follows 1) spring constants 2) axial force and horizontal shearing force 3) stress and neutral axis by using the partial differential equation based on Newmark's Partial Interaction Theory.

Development of a Prototype Automatic Sorting System for Dried Oak Mushrooms (건표고 자동선별을 위한 시작시스템 개발)

  • 한국과 일본의 경우 건표고를 외관의 품질상태 에 따라 12등급에서 16등급으로 구분하고 있다. 그리고 등급판정 작업은 임의로 추출한 샘플을 대상으로 전문 감정가에 의해 수작업으로 수행되고 있다. 건표고의 품질을 결정짓는 외관의 품질인자들은 갓과 내피에 고루 분포하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 컴퓨터 영상처리 시스템에 의거하여 개발한 건표고 자동 등급판정 및 선별 시작시스템의 구조와 기능 그리고 성능에 대하여 설명하였다. 개발한 시작시스템은 표고의 이송과 취급자동화를 위한 진동이송기, 반전장치, 컨베이어 이송장치와 두 세트의 컴퓨터 영상처리 시스템, 그리고 시스템 통괄제어를 위한 IBM PC AT호환 컴퓨터, 디지털 입출력 보드, 전공압실린더 구동제어를 위한 PLC등으로 구성하였다. 등급판정의 효율성 및 실시간 작업시스템을 고려하여 건표고의 등급판정은 두 세트의 컴퓨터 영상처리 시스템을 이용하여 이송되는 건표고의 갓 또는 내피 중 어디가 위를 향하는 지에 따라 두 단계에 걸쳐 독립적으로 판정을 수행하도록 하였다. 첫 번째 영상처리부에서는 갓표면 영상으로부터 4등급의 고품질 표고를 분류하며 두 번째 영상처리부에서는 내피표면 영상으로부터 중간 및 저품질 표고를 8개의 등급으로 분류한다. 실시간 영상정보처리를 목적으로 기존에 개발한 신경회로망을 이용한 등급판정 알고리즘을 시작시스템에 적용하였다. 개발한 시작기는 88% 이상의 등급판정 정확도를 보여 주었으며, 전공압시스템의 구동제약으로 인하여 표고 1개당 약0.7초의 선별시간이 소요되었다. 일조 선별라인의 경우 본 연구에서 제안한 시작기의 선별능력은 표고가 일차 처리부로 갓이 위로 올라와 있는 상태로 계속 공급된다면 시간당 대략 5,000여 개의 표고를 처리할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.보강하여 가능하면 B-Pillar의 Middle이 Bending type collapse을 방지하여 Pelvis와 Door가 먼저 접촉하는 방법 등이 적용가능하다. 제작하기 이전에 설계된 부품에 대한 스프링 상수 및 내구특성을 체계적으로 규명하여 제품 시험의 횟수를 줄이고, 보다 정밀한 제품을 제작할 수 있도록 하기 위한 것이다.세포수는 초기 배반포기배에서 팽윤 배반포기배로 진행됨에 따라 두배에서 세배 정도 증가되었음을 알 수 있었다. 또한, differential labelling과 bisbenzimide기법에서 얻어진 각각의 총세포수를 비교하였을 때 총세포수는 발달의 진행 정도에 따라 증가되며 그와 동시에 동일한 군 간의 세포수도 거의 유사함을 알 수 있었다. 따라서, ICM과 TE를 differential labelling하는 기법은 수정란의 quality를 평가하는데 매우 유용한 기법으로서 착상전 embryo 발달을 연구하는데 효과적으로 이용될 수 있다는 것을 시사한다. 고도의 유의차를 나타낸 반면 비수구, 초생수로구 및 Bromegrass 목초구 간에는 아무런 유의차가 인정되지 않았다. 7. 농지보전 처리구인 배수구와 초생수로구는 비처리구에 비해 낮은 침두 유출량과 낮은 토양유실량을 나타내었다.구보다 14% 절감되는 것으로 나타났다.작용하는 것으로 사료된다.된다.정량 분석한 결과이다. 시편의 조성은 33.6 at% U, 66.4 at% O의 결과를 얻었다. 산화물 핵연료의 표면 관찰 및 정량 분석 시험시 시편 표면을 전도성 물질로 증착시키지 않고, Silver Paint 에 시편을 접착하는 방법으로도 만족한 시험 결과를 얻을 수 있었다.째, 회복기 중에 일어나는 입자들의 유입은 자기폭풍의 지속시간을 연장시키는 경향을 보이며 큰

An analysis of horizontal deformation of a pile in soil using a beam-on-spring model for the prediction of the eigenfrequency of the offshore wind turbine (해상풍력터빈의 고유진동수 예측을 위한 지반에 인입된 파일의 탄성지지보 모델 기반 수평 거동 해석)

  • In the prediction of response of a pile in soil, numerical approaches such as a finite element method are generally applied due to complicate nonlinear behaviors of soils. However, the numerical methods based on the finite elements require heavy efforts in pile and soil modelling and also take long computing time. So their usage is limited especially in the early design stage in which principal dimensions and properties are not specified and tend to vary. On the contrary, theoretical approaches adopting linear approximations for soils are relatively simple and easy to model and take short computing time. Therefore, if they are validated to be reliable, they would be applicable in predicting responses of a pile in soil, particularly in early design stage. In case of wind turbines regarded in this study, it is required to assess their natural frequencies in early stages, and in this simulation the supporting pile inserted in soil could be replaced with a simplified elastic boundary condition at the bottom end of the wind turbine tower. To do this, analysis for a pile in soil is performed in this study to extract the spring constants at the top end of the pile. The pile in soil can be modelled as a beam on elastic spring by assuming that the soils deform within an elastic range. In this study, it is attempted to predict pile deformations and influence factors for lateral loads by means of the beam-on-spring model. As two example supporting structures for wind turbines, mono pile and suction pile models with different diameters are examined by evaluating their influence factors and validated by comparing them with those reported in literature. In addition, the deflection profiles along the depth and spring constants at the top end of the piles are compared to assess their supporting features.
