To verify the mediating effect of Adolescent' Dependence on mobile phone in the relationship between Parent's Neglecting Attitude by Adolescents and the Adult Media Immersion, Baron & Kenny's mediating effect analysis method was conducted and the analytical findings are shown below. According to this study, first of all, more the Parent's Neglecting Attitude rise to rise the Adult Media Immersion. Second, the Adolescent's Dependence on mobile phone partly mediates the Adult Media Immersion. The practical implications of this results are below : First, we need to make a policy and legal effort to improve the relationship between parents and children. • The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating roles of neglectful rearing attitudes and mental health in the relationship between economic status of single-parent famillies and school adjustment, and the differences between single-parent and two-parent families, using structural equation modeling. Data were obtained from the Middle School 1 Panel(third-wave) of the Korean Child and Youth Panel Survey 2010. This study selected 2,195 middle school 3th-grade students (249 from single-parent families and 1,946 from two-parent families). Data were examined with structural equation modeling and multi-group analysis using AMOS 21.0, and mediating effects were tested using the Sobel test. The results were as follows; First, the single-parent children reported lower levels of economic status and school adjustment, and higher levels of neglectful rearing attitudes than the two-parent children. Second, multi-group analysis showed a statistically significant difference between single-parent and two-parent in structural equation modeling. Economic status of two-parent famillies affected school adjustment of children, but economic status of single-parent famillies did not affect school adjustment of children. Third, as a result of examining for total effect, the variable that most influenced school adjustment of children was neglectful rearing attitudes. Fourth, neglectful rearing attitudes and mental health did play a mediating role in the relationship between economic status and school adjustment in case of two-parent famillies, but neglectful rearing attitudes and mental health did not play a mediating role in case of single-parent famillies. Based on the result, this study stressed the following; First, the study suggested that problem of the single-parent famillies supporting standard which is concentrated on the low income single-parent famillies. Second, the study proposed multifaceted support measures which reflects characteristics of single-parent famillies to increase school adjustment of the single-parent children.

  • It has long been accepted that test anxiety is developed by parent-child relationship. The purpose of this study was to investigate the parent influence on student's test anxiety. The Korean Form of Test Anxiety Inventory(TAI-K) and the Parent Attitude Scale were used. 481 primary school-and 500 high school students were participated in the study. The results were as follows ; 1) The parental factor identified as 'rejecting' was positively correlated with students' test anxiety, while the parental factor identified as 'rearing as self-controlled being' was negatively correlated. 2) The students who identified their parents as 'being achievement-oriented' reported significantly higher test anxiety than those who identified their parents as 'accepting'. Many studies also report that high test anxiety interferes with student's performance. Therefore, parents should accept and understand their children in order to alleviate test.

  • The purpose of this study was to raise validity of the result through using national data, to analyze the effect of children's smartphone addiction on aggression and moderating effect of parenting styles on the relationship between children's smartphone addiction and aggression. The data were obtained from 4th waves of KCYPS(Korean Children Youth Panel Study), and 1,686 4th graders in elementary schools who have smartphone were analysed. To achieve the purpose, this study executed frequency analysis, descriptive statistic, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis through SPSS 21.0. The results of this study are as follows: First, the higher children's smartphone addiction level, the higher children's aggression goes. Second, parents' supervision, affection, neglect have moderating effects on the relationship between children's smartphone addiction and aggression which means parenting styles could reduce children's aggression despite serious smartphone addiction. Based on these results, this study suggests that the combination of preventive discipline of smartphone addiction and parental education program is needed to reduce children's aggression which is main factor of bullying. In addition, this study suggests the establishment of special arrangement such as 'shut down' for smartphone addiction prevention.

  • The purpose of this study is to review existing research trends to find highly reliable tools for measuring inconsistencies in parenting attitudes for adolescent children. We reveal factors that heavily affect reliability and feasibility of these tools and compose stable measurement items. We found a total of 37 items with high reliability and feasibility comprising six questions on affection, three questions on childcare, nine questions on interest, seven questions on demands, five questions on neglect, and seven questions on abuse. We surveyed first to third-year high school students in public and private schools nationwide and carried out statistical analysis for the 1,020 respondents. Upon analysis, questions were removed if they showed low factor loading (less than 0.6) for the father and mother in each of the 37 measurement items. Only questions that could be used for both the father and mother were extracted to carry out exploratory factor analysis. Eight questions were were deleted: five on interest, one on demands, one on neglect, and one on abuse. The final 29 questions were selected for the measurement tool. Cronbach's Alpha coefficient was used to analyze reliability, which showed high reliability values ranging from .857 to .931 for the father and mother. Therefore, these inspection tools for inconsistent parenting attitude were both reliable and feasible.

  • Conduct disorder has been subclassified by the symptom characteristics of socialization, aggression, or age of onset. In ICD-10, ‘Conduct disorder confined to family context’ has been developed as a distinct subtype. Which delineates the conduct problems which take place only in the family and related situation. These authors experienced a case which presents a child who shows aggressive and violent behavior to his parent and brother, severe tamper tantrum and destructiveness only in family. By through history taking, observation and treatment after admission, we could find that insecure and ambivalent attachment between parent and child due to chronic neglect and abuse, and inconsistent parental behavior contribute to many behavioral and emotional problems of this child. We reviewed the relationship between conduct disorder and family pathology and treatment strategy for conduct disorder with family problems.

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate the longitudinal changes in the academic achievement of Korean adolescents who transition from elementary to middle school and examine the individual and social factors of the changes using piecewise growth modeling. For this study, the Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study (MAPS) data from 1st to 6th waves (4th-9th grade) were used. The results are as follows. First, the results showed that the piecewise growth function was the most appropriate method to explain changes in the academic achievement of Korean adolescents with respect to the time of vacation. Second, adolescents' academic achievement declined constantly and was greater for middle school students. Third, parental efficacy, self-esteem, and support from friends had a significant positive effect, while uninvolved parenting and acculturation stress had a significant negative effect on the initial value of academic achievement. Self-esteem and support from friends in the 4th grade prohibit its decline in the first change rate of academic achievements. Meanwhile, acculturation stress for 4th-grade students accelerates the decline of academic achievement.

  • This study investigated the longitudinal transition of adolescents' psychological character profiles, which includes self-esteem, acculturative stress, depression, and social withdrawal, and the predictive effects of parental efficacy, families' support, and friends' support in multicultural families. The sample consisted of 1,188 adolescents in elementary school, who were re-examined in three years, when they were in middle school from the part of waves 2 and 6 of the Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study. A latent profile analysis identified three distinct profiles of psychological character among adolescents in elementary school and middle school: stable, social withdrawal, and unstable. As compared to elementary school, adolescents' psychological characteristics stayed stable and played critical roles on the latent classes. Parental efficacy, and supports from family and friends played critical roles on the latent classes. Specifically, as adolescents perceived full of supports from friends, they were more likely to make transitions to the stable group. Implications for intervention in multicultural families are discussed.
