The forced vibration response characteristics of a elastically restrained pipe conveying fluid with attached mass are investigated in this paper. Based on the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory, the equation of motion is derived by using Hamilton's principle. The effects of attached mass and spring constant on the forced vibration characteristics of pipe at conveying fluid are studied. The forced deflection response of pipe with attached mass due to the variation of fluid velocity is also presented. The deflection response is the mid-span deflection of the pipe. The dimensionless forcing frequency is the range from 0 to 16 which is the first natural frequency of the pipe.

The experimental and finite element studies of a coaxial cylindrical shell filled with liquid in the annular gap were performed to understand its vibration characteristics. Finite element analysis was achieved by using ANSYS code. Form the investigation of the changing trend of natural frequencies for the change of annular gap we know that the natural frequency of the coaxial cylindrical shell varies according to the mode shape. that is, in case of in-phase mode the natural frequency decrease as annular gap increase, but in case of out-of-phase mode the natural frequency increase. Finite element analysis results show the excellent agreement with the experimental results both in air and in water case, so that analysis on other cases with be possible without experiment.

A liquid storage rectangular tank structures are used in many fields of civil, mechanical and marine engineering. Especially, Ship structures have many tanks in contact with inner or outer fluid, like ballast, fuel and cargo tanks. Fatigue damages are sometimes observed in these tanks which seem to be caused by resonance with exciting force of engine and propeller. Vibration characteristics of these thin walled tanks ill contact with fluid near engine or propeller are strongly affected by added mass of containing fluid. Therefore it is essentially important to estimate the added mass effect to predict vibration of the tank structures. In the previous report, we have developed numerical tool of vibration analysis of 3-dimensional tank structure using finite elements for plates and boundary elements for fluid region. In the present report, using the numerical analysis, vibrations characteristics in deep water tank are investigated and discussed.

A numerical method for a 2-D oil boom model considering the flexibility of skirt has been developed The neater is assumed rigid and the skirt is tensioned membrane having a point mass at its end The fluid motion is potential. The kinematic condition which demands the continuity of the displacement is imposed at the joint between the floater and the skirt. The dynamic condition for the point mass is imposed at the bottom end of the skirt. The numerical method is based on the Green's function method in the frame of linear potential theory. It finds it's solution simultaneously from the total system of three equations, integral equation, the equation of motion of the floater and the equilibrium equation of the deformation of the skirt. Integral equation is derived by applying the Green's theorem to radiation potential and Green's function. Proper descretization of those three equations leads to the system of a linear algebraic equation. Due to the flexibility of skirt the motion of floater can be diminished in some range of wave frequency and furthermore the mechanism of resonance of the oil boom can be changed. The motion responses of various oil booms have been compared varying the length of the skirt and the point mass. The numerical method has been validated indirectly from the good correspondence between the motion responses of the flexible skirt model and the rigid skirt model in low frequency limit.
Purpose: Gated myocardial perfusion SPECT provides not only myocardial perfusion status but also various functional parameters of left ventricle. We compared left ventricular ejection fraction, end-diastolic volume, LV mass by cardiac SPECT using Quantitative Gated SPECT (QGS), 4D-MSPECT software and standard 2D-echocardiography. Materials and Methods: One hundred fourteen patients (male 51, female 63; 29-85 years old, mean $61.3\;{\pm}\;13.3$ years old) with normal perfusion status on Tc-99m tetrofosmin gated myocardial perfusion SPECT were analyzed retrospectively. Ejection fraction (LVEF), End-diastolic volume (LVED), LV mass (LVM) were calculated using QGS, 4D-MSPECT, and LVEF, LVM using 2D-echocardiography. Statistical analysis including Bland-Altman plot was performed using $MedCalc^{(R)}$ (MedCalc software, Mariakerke, Belgium). Results: The correlation of LVEF between methods was good: 0.95/0.96 (stress/rest) between QGS and 4D-MSPECT, 0.79 between QGS and echocardiography, 0.79 between 4D-MSPECT and echocardiography (p<0.001). Using Bland-Altman plot, the 95% confidence interval of agreement between QGS and 4D-MSPECT ranged from -12.7% to 7.3% / from -12.2% to 6.5% (stress/rest). The agreement between QGS and echocardiography, 4D-MSPECT and echocardiography ranged from -17.4% to 24.0%, and -14.8% to 27.0% respectively. The correlation of LVM between methods was also good: 0.95 between QGS and 4D-MSPECT, 0.76 between QGS and echocardiography, 0.73 between 4D-MSPECT and echocardiography (p<0.001). The 95% confidence interval of agreement between QGS and 4D-MSPECT ranged from -33.8g to 14.1g (stress/rest), The 95% confidence interval of agreement between QGS and echocardiography, 4D-MSPECT and echocardiography ranged from -148.7 g to 21.8. g, and -142.8 g to 35.5 g, respectively. Conclusion: There was a good correlation for LVEF, LVEO, LVM among methods (QGS, 4D-MSPECT, echocardiography), but the variance between methods was big. Therefore, the functional parameters by each method cannot be used interchangeably.
Experimental studies using tuned liquid damper(TLD) and multiple tuned liquid damper(MTLD), which are passive control devices consisting of a rigid tank filed with liquid, are used to suppress vibration of structures. This TLD and MTLD are attributable to several potential advantage -low costs, easy; easy to install in existing structures: effective even for small amplitude vibrations. For this, we conducted shaking table experiments for two natural frequencies (0.44Hz, 0.55Hz) according to the excitation amplitude(1mm, 3mm, 5mm, 10mm, 20mm) So, the majority of studies suggested optimized natural frequence and excitation amplitude for control devices.(TLD and MTLD type : circle, rectangular) As the analysis result, we verified vibration reduction effects of a MTLD by analyzing the performance experiment of TLD and MTLD
Since the Complex Young's Modulus of acoustic materials is a function of frequency under a static load, a cylindrical specimen modelled by rod-like one with losses is used to determine the dynamic characteristics of materials. The specimen is excited into longitudinal vibration at its one end by shaker and at the other end, loaded by a mass corresponding to the desired static load and thus the transfer function of specimen is measured. This transfer function method is analyzed theoretically and experimentally over a frequency range of 50 Hz to 20 KHz. The analysis includes the measurability of the transfer function, the frequency range of the method and lateral motion effect.
Axial vibration analysis is very important for a deep-seabed mining system. In this study, an axial vibration analysis was carried out to estimate the natural frequencies and tensions of the umbilical cable using experimental data obtained from the first pre-pilot mining test. The axial vibrations of the umbilical cable with a pilot mining robot at the bottom end were analytically determined. The range of the added mass coefficients of the pilot mining robot is estimated by comparing the experimental and analytical data. The natural frequencies and maximum tensions are calculated using four estimated added mass coefficients.

Radiated noise analysis from a ship structure is a challenging topic owing to difficulties in the accurate calculation of the fluid-structure interaction as well as owing to a massive degree of freedom of the problem. To reduce the severity of the problem, a new fluid-structure interaction formulation is proposed in this paper. The complex frequency-dependent added mass and damping matrices are calculated using the high-order Burton-Miller boundary integral equation formulation to obtain accurate values over all frequency bands. The calculated fluid-structure interaction effects are added to the structural matrices calculated by commercial finite element software, MSC/NASTRAN. Then, the impedance and underwater radiation noise due to an excitation of structure are calculated. The present formulation is applied to a ship to calculate the underwater radiated noise.
