A Method for Estimating a Distance Using the Stereo Zoom Lens Module (양안 줌렌즈를 이용한 물체의 거리추정)

  • A method of estimating the distance using single zoom camera limits a distance range(only optical axis) in field of view. So, in this paper, we propose a method of estimating the distance information in Stereoscopic display using the stereo zoom lens module for estimating the distance in the wide range. The binocular stereo zoom lens system is composed using a horizontal moving camera module. The left and right images are acquired in polarized stereo monitor for getting the conversion and estimating a distance. The error distance is under 10mm which has difference between optically a traced distance and an estimated distance in left and right range $(0mm{\sim}500mm)$ at center. This presents the system using a function of the zoom and conversion has more precise distance information than that of conversion control. Also, a method of estimating a distance from horizontal moving camera is more precise value than that from toe-in camera by comparing the error distance of the two camera methods.

The characteristics and optimal modeling of input source for optical device using thin film filter in optical telecommunication network (광통신용 박막필터형 광소자 분석을 위한 최적화 모델링과 특성분석)

  • In this paper, we modeled the incident beam in order to analyze and evaluate the optical thin film device for wavelength division multiplexing in optical telecommunication network. As applied ray tracing method to the optical path, we were compared the accuracy of coupling efficiency simulated by two modeling methods. In the results of sinulation, ceil modeling method was preferred to annual modeling method in micro-optic device because of accuracy for coupling efficiency and Gaussian intensity distribution. In the results of optimal simulation for optical device using thin film filter, the distance (d1) between optical fiber and GRIN lens, the distance (d2) between GRIN lens and thin film filter and the coupling efficiency were 0.24 mm, 0.25 mm and -0.11 ㏈ respectively. As d2 was displaced at 0.25 mm and d1 was varied in order to evaluate the optimal value, d1 and maximum coupling efficiency were 0.24 mm and -0.35㏈, respectively. Then the results of experiment were corresponded to that of optimal simulation by cell modeling and it was possible to analyze the performance for optical device using thin film filter by the simulation.

Multi-focal Microscopic System Using a Fiber Bundle (광섬유 다발을 이용한 다초점 현미경)

  • We have constructed and analyzed the performance of a simple fiber bundle multi-focal microscope. The microscope had a fiber bundle substituted for micro-lens array that is the core part of MMM(multi-focal multi-photon microscope). The MMM is a type of confocal microscope. To analyze the performance and characteristics of the fiber bundle multi-focal microscope, three types of samples were used: a standard grating, USAF 1951(7, 3), and 1951(7, 6). Using two polarizers and a polarizing beam splitter, we eliminated noise and got clear images. We obtained the FWHM of fiber spot images with the standard grating using two different magnifier lenses which were 63X and 20X, and found an image of the sample as a distribution of fiber spot images. For this case we used the low magnification lens, which gives denser distribution, so that we could get clearer images. In order to test the resolution of the fiber bundle multi-focal microscopic system, we used the USAF 1951 sample which has a smaller line interval than that of the standard grating. The FWHM of the line width of the image coincides well with the real line width of the USAF 1951 sample. We confirmed the performance of a fiber bundle multi-focal microscopic system which is relatively simple but has submicron resolution and is able to get 1600 images at the same time.

Nondestructive Test of Optical Connector by Resonant Ultrasound Spectroscopy Method (공명초음파분광법에 의한 광컨넥터용 결합소자의 비파괴검사)

  • In this paper, resonant ultrasound spectroscopy(RUS) was used to determine the natural frequency of a ceramic ferrule and a ball lens. The ceramic ferrules are cylinderical shape with $\phi$ 2.56mm diameter and l0mm in length. Crack lengths of these ferrules are 10.40$\mu$m, 21.18$\mu$m and 32.35$\mu$m. The spherical ball lens was made of BK-7 glass, one's diameter in 2mm and 5mm. RUS system is consisted of spectrum analyzer, power amplifier, PZT sensor and support frame. The principle of RUS is that the mechanical resonant frequency of the materials depends on density and the coefficient of elasticity. Rus system is based on that given resonant frequency of the materials can be represented by the function of density and the coefficient of elasticity, and it is applied to excite specimen and to inspect the difference of natural frequency pattern between acceptable specimen and defective ones. Defect evaluation by RUS are performed to investigate the natural frequency measure of ferrule and ball lens.

Influence of Wetting Agents on Physical Properties of Soft Contact Lens (친수성 소프트 콘택트렌즈의 물리적 특성에 미치는 습윤성 재료의 영향)

  • Purpose: The physical and optical characteristics of hydrophilic contact lens polymerized with addition of glycerin and PVP(polyvinylpyrrolidone) in the basic hydrogel contact lens material were evaluated. Methods: This study used glycerin and PVP(polyvinylpyrrolidone) with the cross-linker EGDMA (ethylene glycol dimethacrylate), HEMA (2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) and the initiator AIBN (azobisisobutyronitrile) for copolymerization. Results: Measurements of the physical characteristics of the copolymerized material including PVP(polyvinylpyrrolidone) showed the refractive index of 1.4382~1.4288, tensile strength of 0.3446~2542 kgf and water content and contact angle of sample showed the increase of 13.49% and decrease of 21.44% independently. And also, the physical characteristics of the copolymerized material including glycerin showed the refractive index of 1.4330~1.4328, tensile strength of 0.2974~0.2854 kgf, water content 35.58~36.53% and contact angle of sample showed the decrease of 37.64%. Conclusions: Based on the results of this study, the produced copolymers is suitable for conventional lens with high wettability. Also, glycerin minimized the changes of water content and refractive index at the same time, increased the wettability of the hydrogel lens materials.

  • This paper examines a historical case- the French Revolution- of conceptual change in mathematics. The case that is a space of possibility gave birth to a new community of mathematical practitioners. Carnot and Monge shared the particular conceptions of the problems, aims, and methods of a field and contributed to found Ecole Polytechnique. I intend to show how Carnot's and Monge's mathematical endeavours responded to social, political and technological developments in French society.

  • 최근 테라헤르츠 대역의 주파수를 이용하여 데이터 전송속도 10Gbps 이상의 초고속 통신 시스템에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 테라헤르츠 대역의 주파수 범위는 100GHz~10THz로서 종래의 밀리미터파 대역에서 사용하고 있는 대역폭에 비하여 월등히 넓은 주파수 대역폭을 제공하여 주기 때문에 미래의 초고속 통신시스템 응용에 무한한 잠재적 가치를 가지고 있다. 테라헤르츠 전파는 전자파와 광파의 특성을 모두 가지고 있어 공간으로 전파하며 광의 특성에 따라 광학 렌즈를 이용하여 방사 빔을 집속할 수 있다. 또한 테라헤르츠파는 전파 감쇠가 대단히 커서 현재의 기술수준을 고려해 볼 때 10m 정도의 단거리 통신에 적합하다. 미국, 유럽, 일본 등 테라헤르츠 선도국에서는 핵심 부품 및 MMIC 등의 연구 개발에 많은 투자를 하고 있다. 본 고에서는 테라헤르츠 통신을 위한 집적화 RF 송수신기 기술개발 동향에 대하여 소개하고자 한다.

  • 현재의 비디오 카메라는 인간의 눈으로 볼 수 있는 것과 동일한 화질의 비디오 영상을 얻을 수 없다. 인간의 눈은 움직이는 물체에 중점을 두고 초점을 맞추는 시각적 특성을 가진다. 하지만 현재의 비디오 카메라 시스템은 영상에 대한 인간의 눈의 시각적 특성에 대한 고려 없이 조리개와 렌즈의 조절 작업이 이루어진다. 본 논문은 이러한 비디오 카메라 시스템의 개선을 위해 인간의 눈의 시각적 특성에 기반을 둔 실시간 피사체 적응 비디오 카메라 시스템을 제안한다. 제안하는 알고리즘은 영상내에서 움직임을 가진 물체를 찾아낸 뒤, 이것에 가중치를 두고 조리개와 초점제어 작업의 순서로 이루어진다. 움직이는 물체는 영상 코덱의 움직임 정보를 파악하여 찾아내었다. 제안된 알고리즘은 프로그램언어로 구현되었으며, 초점거리와 조리개제어가 가능한 카메라와 PC를 사용하여 영상을 분석, 검증하였다.

Preparation and Physical Properties of Hydrogle Lens Containing N,N-Dimethylacrylamide (N,N-Dimethylacrylamide를 포함한 하이드로젤 렌즈의 제조 및 물리적 특성)

  • Poly (N,N-dimethylacrylamide) is very useful in various fields due to its remarkable properties, such as water solubility and biocompatibility. This study used N,N-dimethylacrylamide with the cross-linker EGDMA (ethylene glycol dimethacrylate), HEMA (2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate), MMA (methyl methacrylate), NVP (N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) and the initiator AIBN (azobisisobutyronitrile) for copolymerization. Measurement of the physical properties of the copolymerized polymer showed that the water content was 36 - 42%, refractive index was 1.433 - 1.426 and visible ray transmittance 90 - 91% while the oxygen permeability showed a distribution between 13.1 and $21.29{\times}10^{-11}(cm^2/sec)$ ($mlO_2/mL{\times}mmHg$). The measurement showed that the increased amount of oxygen permeability of the copolymer measured using the polarographic method range between 11.0% and 80.5%. Based on the results of this study, the produced copolymer is suitable for use as a material to high oxygen permeability hydrogel lenses.

Study on the Ophthalmic Lens Materials with High Refractive Index Containing Vinylanisole (Vinylanisole을 포함한 고굴절률 안의료용 렌즈 재료에 관한 연구)

  • This study used 3-vinylanisole and 4-vinylanisole with the cross-linker EGDMA (ethylene glycol dimethacrylate), HEMA (2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate), MMA (methyl methacrylate), NVP (N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) and the initiator AIBN (azobisisobutyronitrile) for copolymerization. Measurement of the physical characteristics of the copolymerized material showed that the refractive index is 1.4496 - 1.4894, water content 22.93 - 35.50%, visible transmittance 88.8 - 90.8%. Also, measurements showed that the refractive index increased while the water content decreased as the ratio of 3-vinylanisole and 4-vinylanisole increased. And in cases of copolymer with 3-vinylanisole, 4-vinylanisole (added 15%) the results showed transmittance of 52.8 - 82.2%, 13.2 - 26.2% respectively for UV-A and UV-B showing that they have UV-blocking effects. Based on the results of this study, the produced copolymer can be estimated to be suitable for use as ophthalmic lens material for high refractive index and UV- blocking effects.
