A Study on Business Strategy of Korean Enterprises facing Global Brands in Korean Cosmetic Market (국내 화장품시장에서 글로벌기업에 대한 국내기업의 대응전략에 관한 연구)

  • Global cosmetic corporations take about 40% of Korean cosmetic market in a short period, and will expand their share rate. Furthermore, Korean main cosmetic market channel has been changed from cosmetic shop to diverse channels in accordance with Korean consumer's trends. Therefore, Korean cosmetic corporations must response to the global competitors and the changed market factors simultaneously with an effective business strategy. This paper suggests the effective business strategy to keep and raise the market share against the global cosmetic corporations, and response to the changed market situation.

  • 본 연구에서는 아시아 주요국인 한국, 중국, 일본의 기업가정신으로 대표되는 기업가적 태도 중 지각된 능력(SUSKILL), 지각된 실패 두려움(FEARFAIL) 등의 요인이 어떤 차이가 있는지를 알아보고자 한다. 연구결과는 다음의 몇 가지로 요약된다. 첫째, SUSKILL의 수치를 봤을 때 한국은 높은 편에 속하였다. 그리고 FEARFAIL는 세 국가 중 가장 낮게 나타났다. 이는 한국의 기업가 정신 구축 환경이 잘 되어 있음을 나타낸다. 둘째, 중국은 대부분 지표에서 중간 정도의 수치를 나타내고 있었다. 셋째, 일본은 FEARFAIL는 세 국가 중 두 번째로 나타났으나 SUSKILL 등 지표에서 세 국가 중 가장 낮게 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 볼 때 일본의 경우 지속적인 성장을 위해서는 사회의 변화, 인식의 변화가 크게 일어나야 한다는 것을 시사한다. 본 연구는 국가별 기업가 정신과 기업가 태도를 비교함으로써 지속가능한 경영환경을 조성하는데 기여가 있다고 판단된다.

  • The purpose of this research is to understand, through a case study, how the flexibility of Headquarter(HQ) and subsidiaries makes an effect on performance of global ERP system implementation in a global firm. The questions of this research are as follows. First, what types of flexibility are there for HQ and Subsidiary, respectively, which are related with global ERP system implementation? Second, how much impact do these types of flexibility have on the performance of global ERP system implementation? This research suggests three types of flexibility for HQ and three types of flexibility for subsidiaries that are related with the global ERP system implementation. In this study, BorgWarner, a global automobile parts manufacturer, was selected and analyzed to find out what kinds of flexibility contributed to enhancing its global ERP system implementation performance.

  • 기업의 경영활동이 글로벌화되면서 이를 둘러싼 경영환경도 급변하게 되어 기업이 처한 위험(Risk)의 유형과 빈도가 더욱 증가하게 되었다. 특히 인터넷 환경하의 정보시스템은 기업 경영의 효율성을 증가시킨 반면 이에 따른 위험(Risk)의 발생 정도와 그 파급 효과를 더욱 증가시키고 있다. 위험(Risk)을 인식하고 이를 분석하고 평가하여 관리하는 능력이 뛰어난 기업은 위험(Risk)에 따른 피해의 확산을 조기에 차단 하고 오히려 이를 기회로 이용할 수도 있다. 기존 연구는 위험관리(Risk Management)를 주로 재무관리 또는 보험관리 분야에서 다루어왔다. 일반적으로 자금의 조달이나 투자업무에 있어서 불확실성을 제거하고 분산 투자를 실행하고 미래의 불확실한 상황에 대비하여 보험을 준비하는 등의 내용들이 기존의 위험관리(Risk management)와 관련된 것이었다. 본 연구에서는 위험관리를 정보시스템 분야에 적용하여 정보시스템의 위험관리에 관한 인식을 고취하고, 나아가 보다 체계적인 Global SCM의 구축하여 글로벌 경쟁환경하에서 기업의 경쟁우위를 제고하고자 한다. 특히 기업위험관리(Enterprise Risk Management)관점에서 Global SCM의 위험관리체계의 프레임웍(Framework)을 제시하고자 한다.

  • 본 연구는 국내 이동통신기업의 글로벌 비즈니스 전략에 대한 사례연구이다. 국내 이동 통신시장의 포화에 따른 신수요 창출의 필요성과 아시아신흥시장의 급부상, 기술발전의 가속화에 따른 막대한 기술개발비용증대, 정보통신시장의 통상환경변화(FTA)에 따른 개방화와 글로벌화로 더 이상 국내 경쟁이 아닌 국경과 업계의 벽이 사라진 글로벌 경쟁이 심화되고 있다. 이러한 상황에서 국내 이동통신 업계를 대표하는 SK텔레콤의 경우 다각화된 글로벌 비즈니스 전략을 중심으로 해외시장을 지속적으로 모색하고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 국내 이동통신 기업의 글로벌 비즈니스 전략을 SK텔레콤의 사례를 통해서 살펴보기로 한다.

  • Since the global financial crisis, major countries have been executing policies related to two top-priority goals to create more jobs: revitalization of entrepreneur activity and the cultivation of small and medium-sized companies. In South Korea, the interest of policy makers is increasingly focusing on the role of SMEs that have a technological competitive edge in the realization of a "job-centered creative economy." Due to the nature of the field, the health and medical industry requires a particularly long time until the achievement of industrialization, Also, because of the complex distribution structure, it is essential for related government ministries and institutions to jointly devise strategies. A lack of policy supports for the industry has thus far resulted in its development being relegated for the most part of small and medium-sized companies, which consequently means low global competitiveness. Now is the time for the South Korean government to provide the revolutionary supported options and strategies. This study aims to propose a general policy direction and policy areas for the cultivation of Korea's small and medium-sized companies in the healthcare industry into global small giant companies through an exploration of the German case. It is crucial to first cultivate the international competitiveness of Korean small and medium-sized companies (as in the case of Germany) so that they can grow into global small giant companies. Another important task is the creation of an environment that expedites the qualitative growth of promising SMEs as well as technological development. After securing competitiveness in terms of both product quality and technology in the global health market, substantive policy supports will be necessary to cultivate global small giant companies that are export-based (e.g. job creation effect, sales value added).

An Empirical Research how ISO application and Partnership process affect on Business Performance of Import and Export Manufacturing Firms in Korea (한국 수출입 제조 기업의 국제표준인증 활용과 파트너십 프로세스에 대한 연구)

  • As global partnership is recently getting important in order to establish supply chain network in global managing environment, companies tend to improve quality and warranty in SCM(Supply Chain Management) by certifying ISO(International Organization for Standardization). This research investigated structural relationship how strategic and operational ISO application level and trust, immersion, collaborative factors in partnership process affect to companies business performance. This research was surveyed with 147 manufacturing companies in South Korea and conducted empirical analysis using Structural equation model. The research hypothesis and model was derived from the basis of existing theory and empirical research, and obtained the following results. Firstly, the strategic ISO level showed positive(+) effect on trust and immersion factor. Second, the operational ISO level showed positive(+) effect on trust and collaborative factor. Third, trust factor in the partnership process showed positive(+) effect on immersion factor. Lastly, collaborative factor in partnership process showed positive(+) effect on companies business performance. Implication for this research is that companies must consider ISO application in establishing partnership and companies require prolonged effort using trust, immersing, collaborative factors into partnership process to improve business performance.

국내 항만배후단지 부가가치 물류활동 분석 연구

  • 우리나라 항만배후단지는 수출입 화주의 글로벌 SCM 지원 및 효율적 물류활동을 지원하고, 항만의 고부가가치화를 실현하기 위해 개발 및 운영되고 있다. 따라서 물류센터를 운영하는 항만배후단지 입주기업들은 다양한 부가가치 물류활동을 수행할 것으로 기대되었으나, 여전히 단순 보관기능 위주의 활동에 치중되어 있다는 비판을 받고 있다. 본 연구는 국내 항만배후단지 입주기업의 부가가치 물류활동 실태를 설문조사를 통해 분석하였다. 응답 입주기업의 44%가 단순 하역, 운송, 보관 기능만 수행하는 것으로 조사되었고, 5개 이상 부가가치 물류활동을 수행하는 기업은 전체의 11%로 낮은 수준으로 나타났다. 또한 포장, 분류, 라벨링 등 비교적 저수준의 부가가가치 물류활동이 전체 부가가치 물류활동의 약 60%로 나타났고, 2017년 기준 부가가치 환적화물의 처리 비중은 2.6%로 상당히 낮은 결과를 나타냈다. 항만배후단지 입주기업의 부가가치 물류활동 수준을 제고하고, 부가가치 환적화물 유치 강화 등을 위한 경쟁력 강화방안 마련이 요구된다.

A Study on the Global Market Success through the Customer Value-based Corporate Strategy : The Case of Hilti (고객가치 기반 기업전략을 통한 글로벌 시장성공 : 전동공구기업 힐티의 사례)

  • The objective of the present case study is to analysis how effectively Hilti, which is a former family firm owned and managed by a family in Liechtenstein as a tiny european country, a land sandwiched between Switzerland and Austria, has made a global market success. Liechtenstein has $160km^2$ land and about 36,000 residents. Despite its small size of country, however, Hilti Corporation doesn't view its location as a liability in its business strategy. Hilti is a global leading provider of professional power tools in building, mining, civil engineering etc. Also, Hilti is a firm with a clear vision to become the leading industry partner for construction professionals and building installations through customer focus, high quality equipment, and tools and systems specially designed for specific jobs. This study considered Hilti as a good case, which verifies that born-conditions, endogenous factors according to Michael Porters diamond model does not decisive role more for international competitiveness of firms. Lessons from Hilti are that in order to obtain and sustain the global competitiveness of small and medium-sized firms in Korean manufacturing sector under high production cost, they have to do actively innovative. Also they can give to customers newer and higher customer-values than competitors in abroad give. The case summarizes that the strategy of Hilti for the global market success is comprised of several factors: Technological and organizational innovation, and a clear customer-value oriented business strategy and its implementation. Innovation and its integration into marketing for the customers value creation is central to Hilti's Success. The present case study is expected to provide insights and implication for many firms in Korea that are seeking to secure global presence and market success.

Born Global or Not? It May Depend on Psychological Ownership of Top Executives (중역들의 심리적 소유의식 확대를 통한 중소기업의 글로벌화 가능성에 대한 실증적 고찰)

  • 'Born Global' is a core value that small to medium sized enterprizes (hereinafter SMEs) in Korea are pursuing due to increasing competitiveness and relatively smaller market size in domestic markets. How can we build capabilities to be born global? This paper seeks to find the answer for the question, and investigates the role of psychological ownership of top executives. Results show that psychological ownership of top executives positively influence the ratio of export in revenue, surrogate for global performance. In addition, the results show that psychological ownership can be built through information access, participation in decision making, and procedural justice.
