Measuring Technologies of Traffic Conflict Risk between Vehicles and Pedestrians (차량-보행자간의 상충위험도 측정 기술 연구)

  • In Korea, traffic accidents between pedestrians and vehicles in 2015 account for 38.8% of all accidents. This study proposes a system design that can measure the risk of conflict between a vehicle and a pedestrian. Firstly the systemdetect and estimate the position, speed, and directional data of the vehicle and the pedestrian. And then it estimate the conflict point between a vehicle and a pedestrian. The risk of conflict is quantified by estimating the pedestrian safety margin (PSM), which is the time difference between the arrival of the pedestrian at the crossing point to the point of conflict and the vehicle approaching the point. In this system each data is acquired through an external monitoring based evaluation module and an individual wearing module. In the future, such a system can be used for decision making such as the design of road hazard improvement facilities and the designation of the elderly protection area.

Landscape Evaluation of Sidewalk Environment using Sensibility Data (감성데이터를 이용한 보도환경의 경관평가에 관한 연구)

  • On the occasion of high price oil generation, we have to promote activation policy for public transportation and hold back to use passenger car, it is very important to improve of sidewalk environment for pedestrian. Evaluation for sidewalk environment will be fixed with sensibility to feel pedestrian. So, study for sensibility about comfort etc. to feel pedestrian will be carried out. In this paper, researchers interests in engineering methods to make material considering sensibility and image of human. Therefore, we carried out recognition experiment for sidewalk environment with Kansei engineering, and made a quantitativedata of sensibility adjective that it was surveyed by semantic deferential method. After grasp factors by principal analysis, we found factor effect to design criterion and sidewalk environment preference. So, we could identify a design factor for comfort environment.

An Experimental Evaluation and Economic Analysis for LED Traffic Signal (LED 교통신호등 현장적용성 평가 및 경제성 분석)

  • LED(Light Emitting Diodes)는 반도체를 이용한 발광소자로서 동화상 광고물이나 가변정보표지판(VMS)등에 주로 활용되고 있으며 최근 외국의 경우 LED 기술을 교통신호등에 적용하여 시범설치 및 확대 적용 설치하여 운영 중에 있으며 국내에서는 산업체, 학계, 연구소 등에서 연구 개발 중에 있다. 본 연구는 현재 이러한 산 학 연의 노력에 의해 개발된 LED 교통신호등을 현장에 적용하기에 앞서서 실내실험과 현장실험을 통하여 에너지 절감효과 및 현장적용성을 검증하고 경제성 분석을 통한 타당성을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구 내용으로써 기존 전구식 신호등과 LED 신호등의 발광원리 및 특징 비교 분석, 실내실험을 통한 에너지 절감효과 검증, LED 보행자 신호등 현장적용성 평가, LED 신호등으로 서울시의 기존 신호등을 연차적으로 교체하는 경우에 대한 경제적 분석이 실시되었다. 실내실험을 통해 LED 신호등의 에너지 절감효과가 평균 76% 임을 검증하였고 보행자 신호등에 대한 현장 실험에서 설문응답자의 83.7%가 LED 신호등의 시인성이 우월하다고 나타나 현장적용성은 긍정적인 것으로 나타났다. LED 신호등에 대한 경제성 분석결과 자본회수기간은 6년으로 나타났으며 향후 기존 신호등의 고장 및 유지 보수 등에 의한 차량정체 비용, 교통사고 비용 및 소자기술 발전을 고려하면 이보다 단축될 것으로 판단된다. 향후 차량등에 대한 운전자들의 반응 및 장기적인 안정성 등에 대한 종합적인 실험이 추가적으로 이뤄져야 할 것이며 이를 바탕으로 하여 LED 신호등에 대한 규격서 제정 등 법 제도 측면이 이루어진 후 LED 국내 기술 수준 등을 총체적으로 고려하여 LED 교통신호등에 대한 보급방안이 강구되어야 할 것이다.

Research on LOS Estimation Standard in the Mixed Traffic Street (보차혼용도로에서의 LOS 평가기준 마련에 관한 연구)

  • There were many theories to suggest the indicators that evaluate stability and reflect the plan in mixed traffic street in all traffic modes This Paper analyzed residential street of Suwon City adopting time-space occupancy index among these indicates. Three survey street. congregated into apartment house. were selected to analyze this and pictured by video camera over one hour. and the length of these street were 76m, 55m, and 34m each, and major street by each region, comparably high in Pedestrians and pass vehicles, were selected. Basic datum to calculate time-space occupancy index and time-space occupancy index per person was gathered through video analysis. i.e Parameters for pedestrians, cars, bicycles, average speed of bicycles, and parking car. There are some limitation to analyze LOS of mixed traffic street in all traffic modes, not pedestrian mall. Therefore this paper presented evaluation standard of LOS. In conclusion. the aim of this paper is to suggest modeling based on guidelines for evaluating LOS of mixed traffic street in all traffic modes. It is estimated that this will be influencing indicates for improving pedestrian environment, and Planning mixed traffic street in future.

Comparison of Energy Consumption of Reciprocating Gait Orthosis(RGO) and Powered Gait Orthosis(PGO) during Gait (일반보행보조기(RGO)와 동력보행보조기(PGO)의 보행시 에너지 소모도 비교 평가 분석)

  • The aim of this study ultimately is verifying that PGO gait is more efficient than RGO fur paraplegics because the air muscle assists hip flexion power in heel off movement. The gait characteristics of the paraplegic wearing the PGO or RGO are compared with that of a normal person. PGO with air muscles was used to analyze the walking of patients with lower-limb paralysis, and the results showed that the hip joint flexion and pelvic tilt angle decreased in PGO. In comparison to RGO gait, which is propelled by the movements of the back, PGO uses air muscles, which decreases the movement in the upper limb from a stance phase rate of 79$\pm$4%(RGO) to 68$\pm$8%. The energy consumption rate was 8.65$\pm$3.3 (ml/min/Kg) for RGO, while it decreased to 7.21t2.5(ml/min/Kg) for PGO. The results from this study show that PGO decreases energy consumption while providing support for patients with lower-limb paralysis, and it is helpful in walking for extended times.

An Evaluation of Pedestrian Environments based on the Criteria of Universal Design Theory - A case study of old town area in Seoul - (서울시 유니버설디자인 보행환경 조성을 위한 보행환경 평가 연구 - 서울시 사대문안 사례를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine urban built environments associated with the walking behavior in order to identify the problem of urban infrastructure from the perspective of Universal design theory. Using the walkability criteria developed based on the findings of previous studies on Universal design theory and walking environment, the urban built environments in old town area of Seoul were evaluated. The results of the evaluation indicated that the pedestrian infrastructure in the study area had several shortcomings to improve in order to provide walking-friendly environments. First, the pedestrian infrastructure for visually impaired people were severely limited. Second, walking traffics in large portion of the street networks were interrupted by a variety of obstacles such as parked cars, signboards, and illegal street shops. Third, there were certain areas where the quality of pavement was not properly managed. In summary, this study provides an empirical data to understand the current situation of pedestrian infrastructure in the urban areas. Improvement of pedestrian infrastructure is needed to address the issues related to the mobility of the disabled people. It is also recommended to construct the GIS data on walking environment in order to develop and mange a long-term public investment plan for walking-friendly urban environments.

  • The purpose of this study was to determine whether abdominal pressure belt has an immediate effect on pulmonary function, balance and gait ability for stroke patients. Twenty subjects measured pulmonary function and the COP, BBS, TUG, 10m walk test, and FGA prior to belt wearing. Immediately all subjects were post-tested after wearing abdominal pressure belt of elastic components. Except for forced vital capacity (FVC) and forced experimental volume in the 1 second (FEV1), there were significant differences after belt wearing. This study suggests that the application of abdominal pressure belt enhanced balance and gait ability. However, improving pulmonary function requires several efforts, such as changing the pressure level, posture.

Development and Evaluation of the Auditory Feedback Gait Training System Induced Symmetrical Weight-Bearing in Hemiplegic Patients (편마비 환자의 대칭적 체중부하 유도를 위한 청각적 피드백 보행훈련 시스템 개발 및 평가)

  • In this study, we developed a wireless rehabilitation auditory feedback gait training system for symmetrical weight-bearing in patient with CVA. The device consists of an instantaneous shoe equipped with two load-cell sensors. Auditory feedback can be applied according to the weight-bearing. For gait patterns analysis, cadence, walking velocity, stance/swing phase ratio and gait cycle were examined. The clinical test with six healthy volunteers and two hemiplegic patients was performed applying the auditory feedback system. Both normal subjects and hemiplegic patients were increased strength on weight-bearing in affected limb, walking velocity, and cadence after biofeedback device. Also, the stance time with weight-bearing was increased while the swing time was decreased in gait phase. It can be expected that by using the feedback system, the patient with lower limb disorder will be able to reach a better quality of weight-bearing during gait.
