  • This study aimed to develop an operating manual on the voluntary activity to the library services with disabled people in the public libraries. Various domestic and overseas manuals on the voluntary activity to the library services with disabled people were analyzed. From the survey and expert interviews, five types of most frequently asked library services with disabled people, face-to-face reading, word input services, services to off-library users, mobility aids services and assistance of engineering devices were extraced. Five specific areas on the voluntary activity were chosen in terms of activity area, barrier type, specific activity field, activity purpose and checklist. Finally, contents of the operating manual was applied to the area of face-to-face reading.

  • This study aims to analyse the ripple effect of Physical distribution service industry on national economy using input-output tables and present the results as data for political plans in this field. For the analysis, it uses input-output tables developed and published by Sank of Korea in 1998, 2000, and 2003. To sum up the results, production inducement effects are 1757 for railroad transport, 1688 for road transport and 1617 for loading. Import inducement effects of assistant services, loading, storage, warehouse and other transport-related services are low while the effects of water and air transport are high as follows: 0.679 and 0.558 respectively. Then, added-value inducement effects are presented as follows: 0.841 for railway transport, 0.828 for road transport, 0.962 for transport assistant service, 0.939 for loading, 0.938 for storage and warehouse, and 0.942 for other transport-related services. Sensitivity dispersion index of road transport is high while that of water transport, storage and warehouse is low. And influence coefficient of railway and road transport is high while that of water and air transport is low. In respect to the employment structure of Physical distribution service industry, 744,000 are employed for road transport industry, which is the largest number, 19,000 for air transport and 20,000 for assistant services, which is the least number.

  • This study is about current operating system and development process of remote island route. 14 companies are providing safe transportation service for remote island residents with total 30 boots on 27 routes. Each route transit analysis shows that the number of passenger tends to increase every year. In order to enhance customer satisfaction, more constructive improvement is demanded, such as implementing operation evaluation on each charter service provider.1he result obtained from this study is to be utilized as basic document for remote island route development process in semi-long run basis.

  • A range of problems have risen as the results of the obligated charter service. Constant lack of operation improvement compared to regular routes and lower quality service are results of business practice by the service providers. Therefore, this study executed an empirical research using AHP to present a method for improvement by investigating remote island charter service providers. Result shows that the desirable method is to implement operation evaluation system to induce service providers to consistently put efforts on the operating system development.
