Evaluation of Design Equation and Stability for Trenchless Pipe Liner System with Boundary Treatment (비굴착 전체보수용 라이너의 두께 설계식 및 말단부 처리에 따른 라이너의 안정성 검토 연구)

  • Drainage pipeline system repaired by trenchless technology using liners can be defined between partial and entire collapse. The liners in the partial collapse pipeline are subjected to only uniform groundwater pressure on the surface. This research evaluates practical and useful cured-in-placed pipe (CIPP) design equations based on experimental results and finite element analysis results. Also, stability evaluation of pipe liner system with edge treatment is performed using finite element analysis. The CIPP equation should be used to design liner pipe system.

  • One of the major roles of concrete lining is the supplementary support of ground load. Therefore, if there are cracks or deformation found in the lining, the causes should be carefully examined. Tunnel Soundness Evaluation System (DW-TSES) was developed to meet such requirements. Main facility of the system was intended to find the probable causes on the basis of the apparent changes in lining and the environmental conditions. It also includes facilities for evaluating the soundness of a tunnel and indicating the method for repair or reinforcement. The characteristic feature of damages is used for reasoning in case of deterioration and leakage, and artificial neural network is used in external pressure. This process depends on the results of the case analyses and FDM, which have a collection of the typical features of different types of damages as well as the unusual changes caused by the external pressure. The comparison of the outputs of this system with those of expert's diagnoses draws the following conclusions. 1) Artificial neural network was a suitable tool to find to causes of damages by external pressure. 2) The environmental conditions improved the accuracy in reasoning. 3) The result of finding causes and evaluating soundness was helpful to suggest effective methods concerning tunnel maintenance.

  • Since 1980's in U.S.A and Japan, the studies on increasing the bearing capacity of railway roadbed using geocell system have been conducted for repair and reinforcement of railways constructed on soft soils. In this study, the railway roadbed reinforced with geocell system, used for repair and reinforcement of existing railways in Korea, has been analyzed and investigated the results of the previous studies conducted in Korea and other nations. And the method for estimating the railway roadbed thickness was developed based on the equivalent method using the multi-layer theory and the deformation modulus Ev.

Applicability of CGS for Remediation and Reinforcement of Damaged Earth Dam Core (손상된 흙댐 코어의 보수.보강을 위한 CGS 공법의 적용성)

  • It is very difficult to rehabilitate the damaged earth dam core to manage it stably against development of flow path and increase of leakage by hydraulic fracture. In this study, application of CGS (Compaction Grouting System) to damaged earth dam core was noticed by analyzing and comparing the results of the in-situ data and FEM. Results of in-situ data showed that according as progress of rehabilitation works tip pressures increased and volume of injection decreased, voids of damaged dam core were filled with materials similar to origin dam core. Rehabilitations caused turbidity and volume of leakage to decrease at the same water level. Also, results of FEM analysis indicated that permeability decreased by rehabilitation. Through this study, it is proved that CGS is able to decrease permeability coefficient, volume of leakage and turbidity on damaged earth dam core.
