A Development of Small-diameter Composite Helical Spring for Reinforcement of Optical Fiber Jumper Cord (OJC) (광점퍼코드 (OJC) 보호용 미소 직경 복합재료 스프링 개발)

  • Small diameter composite helical springs (CS) are developed using a hot plated mold for reinforcement of common optical fiber jumper cord (OJC). The outer diameters of the springs are about 2 ~ 3mm. These springs are inserted into the OJC to protect the damage of an optical fiber from the sudden lateral load. Two types of CS, Yarn type (Y-type) and Band type (B-type), are manufactured to compare the effectiveness for the damage protection. The experimental works were conducted to check the effect of the CS covered around OJC on the mechanical and optical properties. Experimental observations show a considerable effect on the flexural resistance, hence slowing down the deterioration of the optical power by the internal damage of the fiber. Obtained main results are as follows: (1) Y-type CS has better protection abilities to lateral loading than B-types. (2) Compared with bare OJC, CS-OJC has less power loss under the loading. (3) OJC covered with the composite coil spring has a possibility for a practical usage with full fruits.

  • 자동차용 타이어는 고무와 고무의 보강 및 치수 안정용으로 사용되는 다량의 타이어코드로 이루어져 있다. 고무는 신축성이 크고 공기압 등에 의해 물성이 현저하게 저하하므로 신축을 적게 하고 물성의 저하를 막기 위해 보강용으로 사용되는 타이어코드는 타이어의 성능과 수명을 좌우하는 중요 요소가 된다[1]. 타이어코드용 PET섬유는 타이어 내에서 계속적인 신장, 굽힘 및 압축변형 등의 물리적 피로를 받고 있기 때문에 이들로 인하여 내피로성이 아주 중요한 의미를 가진다. 이러한 타이어코드용 섬유의 내피로성에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 것은 섬유의 미세구조인데 주로 결정영역보다는 비결정영역의 구조이고, 피로를 가했을 때 크랙의 성장으로 인해 내피로성이 감소하며 파단이 일어난다.   • Air springs are prevalently used as suspension in train. However, air springs are seldom used in automobiles where they improve stability and comfort by enhancing the impact-relief, breaking, and cornering performance. Thus, this study proposed a new method to analyze air springs and obtained some reliable design parameter which can be utilized in vehicle suspension system in contrast to conventional method. Among air spring types of suspension, this study focused on sleeve type of air spring as an analysis model since it has potential for ameliorating the quality of automobiles, specifically in its stability and comfort improvement by decreasing the shock through rubber sleeve. As a methodology, this study used MARC, as a nonlinear finite element analysis program, in order to find out maximum stress and maximum strain depending on reinforcement cord's angle variation in sleeves. The properties were found through uniaxial tension and pure shear test, and they were developed using Ogden Foam which is an input program of MARC. As a result, the internal maximum stresses and deformation according to the changes of cord angle are obtained. Also, the results showed that the Young's modulus becomes smaller, then maximum stresses decrease. It is believed that these studies can be contributed in automobile suspension system.

  • This paper deals with an Umbrealla Arch Reinforcement Method (UARM) in tunnelling. It is known that the mechanism of the reinforcement system is too complex to be simulated in existent finite element (FE) frameworks when considering its complex geometry of pipe arrangements and contribution of each component of the reinforcement to reinforcing effect. In this study a 3-D elastoplastic FE procedure is, therefore, proposed by introducing homogenisation technique, which is used to define mathematically elastic as well as elastoplastic characteristics of a reinforced ground material as a composite. A number of practical suggestions are addressed considering staged constructions of tunnels. For illustrative purposes, a series of parametric studies are undertaken and anisotropic characteristics of the reinforced ground as well as effects of the reinforcement on tunnel convergences are investigated. It is found that the reinforced ground material defined in homogenisation framework has its mechanical characteristics reasonably representing inherent geometrical and quantitative characteristics of each of constituents.

  • 국내 경수로 원자력발전소 가압기는 안전성향상을 위하여 보다 많은 배관과 부수적인 배관이 설치 될 수 있다. 이에 따라 ASME 코드의 공식에 의한 설계(Design by Formula)보다는 해석에 의한 설계 (Design by Analysis)의 필요성이 증가하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 한국 표준형 원자로의 가압기 헤드 및 노즐에 대하여 ASME 코드의 해석에 의한 설계를 적용하여 범용유한요소 코드인 IDEAS로 응력해석 하고 구조적 건전성을 분석, 고찰하였다. 또한 해석결과에 따른 가압기헤드, 노즐 그리고 노즐보강에 대한 설계시 고려되어야 할 인자를 분석하였다.

  • 타이어코드는 복합재료의 원조라고도 불리는 타이어의 적절한 보강용 재료로 복합재료용 섬유의 선구자라고 할 수 있다. 1888년 Du Pont에서 공기를 넣는 타이어를 만든 이후 타이어코드는 마, 면, 레이온, 나일론, 스틸, 폴리에스테르, 글라스, 아라미드 등과 같은 새로운 소재가 계속적으로 개발되어 타이어의 고기능화와 함께 타이어코드의 고기능화도 이루어져 왔다[1]. 이러한 타이어 코드 소재로는 현재 여러 가지가 있으나, High Modulus Low Shrinkage (HMLS) 타입의 PET 타이어코드는 다른 소재에 비해 가격이 안정적이고, 강도가 탄성률이 우수하며 특희 나일론에 비하여 초기 탄성계수 및 치수 안정성이 우수하여 평탄점(flot spot)현상도 적기 때문에 레이온을 대신하여 승합차용으로 사용량이 계속 증가되고 있다[2]. A Study on the Flexural Minimum Reinforcement for Prevention of Brittle Failure Specified in KCI and EN Codes (유럽과 국내기준에 규정된 취성파괴 방지를 위한 휨 최소철근량 고찰)

  • In the design of reinforced rectangular concrete beam structure, the minimum amount of flexural reinforcement is required to avoid brittle failure. KCI code is based on concept of ultimate strength and usually used as a model code. But bridge design code enacted by Ministry of land, transportation and maritime affairs in 2012 is based on concept of limit state and similar to Euro code EN 1992-2. This means that the minimum reinforcement presented in both design codes has different origination and safety margin. When rectangular concrete beams with minimum reinforcement are designed according to EN and KCI codes, the amount of minimum reinforcement specified in EN code is only 76% of that in KCI code. This makes the design engineers to be confused. In this study, flexural tests were conducted on nine beams with the two different minimum reinforcement specified in KCI and EN design codes. In results, the measured ratios of nominal strength to crack strength from the test were about 25% greater than those evaluated from the equations presented in KCI and EN codes. The EN beams having only 76% of the minimum reinforcement for the KCI beams were fractured by rupture of steel reinforcement but in ductile manner. It is confirmed that the minimum reinforcement concrete beams designed according to both codes have enough safety margin in flexural capacity and moreover in ductility.

CELP speech coder by the structure of multi-codebook (다중 코드북 구조를 이용한 CELP형 음성부호화기)

  • In this paper we propose a multi-codebook structure which can synthesize high quality speech without increasing of CELP coder's computation. We also design a 4.8kbps CELP speech coder with the proposed codebook structure. The proposed multi-codebook structure is made up of basic codebook and the other codebook which Is formed for strengthen spectrum an4 pitch. Multi-codebook structure can represent accurate gains since it represents excitation signals as summation of two kinds of codebooks and uses different codebook gains respectively. Therefore it can provide better speech quality than other conventional structures. In computer simulation of the 4.8kpbs CELP coder designed with the proposed codebook structure its segSNR was 0.81dB more high than the DoD CELP coder of same transmission rates.
