  • In this study, an educational program was developed. The program can perform the claim for examination of medical expense, which is one of NCS Competence Unit Elements for hospital administration. Considering various coding to complex compute and process, VB.Net was employed for this development. For database, ACCESS Database was used because it is easy to learn and use. The learning effects by the developed program are expected to be as follows. First, the composition of medical expense can be understood by analyzing Medical history and then selecting insurance code according to the Standard of Medical Care Code. Second, unit cost per score can be learned according to hospital class. Third, selection of Column (medical materials) and Column II(medical practice) can classify items of additional ratio. Fourth, because patient's payment rate on hospitalization and meal expense and use of special equipment are differently applied, user can know patient's payment rate by type and can calculate it. Fifth, additional amount is the amount calculated by additional ratio of Column II(medical practice), and user can learn additional ratio according by insurance type and hospital class. Sixth, user can learn self-pay rate by hospital class and understand the process that self-pay amount and claim amount are calculated according by self-pay rate.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of forest environment and therapeutic program to the patients with major depressive disorder in antidepressant medication. The first group participated the four sessions of therapeutic program in the forest environment ("forest therapy"), the second group did in the program in a hospital environment, the third group did merely walking in the forest ("forest bath"), and the last group was controls. All the participants was diagnosed with major depressive disorder and had been taking antidepressant medication longer than 3 months. Depressive symptoms were measured by the Hamilton Rating Scales for Depression(HRSD), Montgomery-Asberg Depressin Rating Scales(MADRS), Beck Depression Inventory(BDI), and general health perception was measured by Short Form Health Survey Questionnaire(SF-36). Heart rate variability(HRV) were also examined to observe the physiological parameters before and after the program. In the results, HRSD score of forest program group was significantly lower than controls after the program. MADRS score of forest therapy group and hospital program group was also significantly lower than controls after 4 sessions of the program. The remission rate defined as below 7 points in HRSD was higher in the forest therapy group, hospital program group, forest bath group, and controls in order. These results reveals that the therapeutic program performed in forest environment may improve unremitted depressive symptoms of patients with major depressive disorder. Although not significant, the forest therapy program showed better outcome than hosptial program and forest bath.

  • Purpose: To investigate the characteristics and chronological changes of gastric cancer in Korea, the Information Committee of the Korean Gastric Cancer Association performed nationwide survey for 2004. Materials and Methods: The data on patients who underwent gastric cancer surgery in 2004 were collected from 57 institutes and compared with those of 1995 and 1999 which were reported in 2002. Fourteen factors (sex, age, tumor location and size, gross type, approach to operation, radicality, operative method, reconstruction method, WHO and Lauren classification, UICC stage, and numbers of positive and retrieved lymph nodes) were analyzed. According to the annual number of gastric cancer operations, 57 institutes were divided into 4 groups (group 1, <100; 100 ${\leq}$ group 2 < 200 operations; 200 ${\leq}$ group 3 < 500 operations; group 4, ${\geq}500$). Results: Data on 11,293 patients were collected. The sex ratio (M : F) was 2.05 : 1 (7,586/3,705). The mean age was 58.0 years old. The age of highest incidence in both male and female has increased recently. The proportion of early gastric cancer has increased from 28.6% in 1995 and 32.8% in 1999 to 47.4% in 2004. The mean number of retrieved lymph nodes was 34.0 (32.8, 34.0, 36.1, and 32.9 for group 1, 2, 3, and 4 respectively). Conclusion: Early gastric cancer has increased in 2004 compared to 1995 and 1999. Gastric cancer surgery seems to be performed with acceptable quality in view of number of retrieved lymph nodes. These data presented in nationwide survey could be used as a fundamental resource for gastric cancer in Korea.

  • Though a legged robot has high terrain adaptability as compared with a wheeled vehicle, its moving speed is considerably low in general. For attaining a high moving speed with a legged robot, a dynamically stable walking, such as running for a biped robot and a trot gait or a bound gait for a quadruped robot, is a promising solution. However, energy efficiency of a dynamically stable walking is generally lower than the efficiency of a stable gait such as a crawl gait. In this paper, we present an experimental study on the energy efficiency of a quadruped walking vehicle. Energy consumption of two walking patterns for a trot gait is investigated though experiments using a TITAN-VIII.

  • Emotional Intelligence is the ability to recognize, facilitate, understand and control and utilize one's and other's emotions and has been researched extensively in last 20 years. Of the four domains of emotional intelligence, Emotional Regulation, the ability for one to manage and modify one's emotional reactions in order to achieve goal-directed outcomes, with its influence on authentic leadership and change oriented organizational citizenship behavior was researched by surveying 300 nurses at large metropolitan hospitals in B city in South Korea. Previous research demonstrated in relationship based and long term oriented cultures, such as Korea, Japan and Chinese cultures, ability to regulate emotions is critical component in successful social dynamics yet research the topic is minimal in Korea. Authentic leadership is a leader displaying sincerity and authentic behavior and through such, trust is gained in followers and collaboration is formed. Change oriented organizational citizenship behavior is a proactive behavior where the individual performs behaviors not included in his job functions voluntarily. The results indicate the three out of four sub domains of authentic leadership influenced positively to change oriented organizational citizenship behavior with the exception of balanced information processing. Moreover, Emotional Regulation partially mediated between authentic leadership and change oriented organizational citizenship behavior. Such results validated previous studies that indicated authentic leadership as possible antecedents of individual proactive behaviors and by examining authentic leadership and change oriented organizational citizenship behavior with emotional regulation as a mediator proved possibility as another potential antecedent of change oriented organizational citizenship behavior in hospital setting.

  • The use of 3-dimensional (3D) printing is becoming more common, and its use is increasing in the orthopedic surgery. Currently, there are four major methods of using 3D printing technology in orthopedic surgery. First, surgical planning simulation using 3D printing model; second, patient-specific surgical instruments; third, production of customized prosthesis using 3D printing technique; fourth, patient-specific prosthesis produced by 3D printing. The areas of orthopedic surgery where 3D printing technology can be used are shoulder joint, spine, hip and pelvis, knee joints, ankle joint, and tumors. Since the diseases and characteristics handled by each area are different, the method of using 3D printing technology is also slightly different in each area. However, using 3D printing technology in all areas can increase the efficiency of surgery, shorten the surgery time, and reduce radiation exposure intraoperatively. 3D printing technology can be of great help in treating patients with particularly complex and difficult orthopedic diseases or fractures. Therefore, the orthopedic surgeon should make the most of the benefits of the 3D printing technology so that patient can be treated effectively.

  • Purpose To evaluate the optimal measurement location, cut-off value, and diagnostic performance of S-Shearwave in differential diagnosis of breast masses seen on ultrasonography (US). Materials and Methods During the study period, 225 breast masses in 197 women were included. S-Shearwave measurements were made by applying a square region-of-interest automatically generated by the US machine. Shearwave elasticity was measured three times at four different locations of the mass, and the highest shearwave elasticity was used for calculating the optimal cut-off value. Diagnostic performance was evaluated by using the area under the receiving operator characteristic curve (AUC). Results Of the 225 breast masses, 156 (69.3%) were benign and 69 (30.7%) were malignant. Mean S-Shearwave values were significantly higher for malignant masses (108.0 ± 70.0 kPa vs. 43.4 ± 38.3 kPa; p < 0.001). No significant differences were seen among AUC values at different measurement locations. With a cut-off value of 41.9 kPa, S-Shearwave showed 85.7% sensitivity, 63.9% specificity, 70.7% accuracy, and positive and negative predictive values of 51.7% and 90.8%, respectively. The AUCs for US and S-Shearwave did not show significant differences (p = 0.179). Conclusion S-Shearwave shows comparable diagnostic performance to that of grayscale US that can be applied for differential diagnosis of breast masses seen on US.
