Effect of Graphite on Rice Growth (흑연(GRAPHITE)의 벼 생육에 미치는 영향)

  • Carbon material such as graphite and activated charcoal can promote the growth of some formsog bacteria. We examined whether this bacterial growth promoting effect can have a positive influence on field crops. Refined graphite was mixed into the standard soil used in rice cultivation. Varying soil graphite mixtures of 0.1%, 0.5% and 1% were used to cultivate rice seedling for 3 weeks. After transplanting in the filed, rice plants were cultivated for 4 months. To observe the effect of graphite(carbon material) during the cultivation of rice, we examined various different growth components in this research. During the transplanting stage, growth promoting effect of carbon was observed in the 0.1% carbon added soil. However, there were not much difference between graphite added soil and standard soil in the other stages. Rice yield was highest in the soil with 0.1% graphite.

Effect of Cyclosulfamuron on Rice Growth and Acetolactate Synthase Activity (Cyclosulfamuron이 벼의 생육과 Acetolactate Synthase 활성에 미치는 영향)

  • Cyclosulfamuron a herbicide of sulfonylurea type, is a relatively new compound which control broad leaves and perennial weeds in rice field. However, this herbicide has a minor disadvantage of decreasing rice plant growth, especially in early growth stage. Therefore, far introducing this cyclosulfamuron as a herbicide in rice field, it is important to minimize the suppression of early plant growth with maintaining weed control efficacy. This study was conducted to evaluate effects of cyclosulfamuron early plant growth and acetolactate synthase activity of rice (Oryza sativa cv Dongjinbyeo, Hwasungbyeo, Ilpumbyeo). Rice growth was inhibited by cyclosulfamuron in their early growth stage. The concentrations required far 50% inhibition of Dongjinbyeo, Hwasungbyeo and Ilpumbyeo growth were 6.3, 9.2 and 146.mg/kg, respectively. Inhibition effect of cyclosulfamuron on the root elongation was greater than the effect on the shoot growth. Concentrations required far 50% inhibition of acetolactate synthase activity from Dongjinbyeo, Hwasungbyeo, Ilpumbyeo were 42.7, 32.7 and $56.7\;{\mu}M$, respectively.

  • 6월은 1년중 가장 바쁜 시기이며 안전다수확의 기틀을 마련하는 달이다. 1모작지대는 병충해방제 $\cdot$잡초약뿌리기$\cdot$물관리 $\cdot$옷거름주기 등을 하여야 하고 2모작지대는 보리베기와 모내기가 겹쳐 잠시라도 뒤돌아 볼 겨를도 없기 때문이다. 그러나 우리는 바쁠수록 계획적인 일손 배분으로 모든 농작업을 제때에 실천함으로서 벼 생육을 좋게 하여 안전다수확을 기하여야 한다.

  • The effect of different cultural patterns on the growth and herbicidal response of rice(Oryza sativa L.) and barnyardgrass(Echinochloa crus-galli var. oryzicola) was studied tinder direct-seeded rice and early rice seedling conditions. In dry-seeded rice condition, the growth of rice and barnyardgrass was the greatest in 3cm-seeding depth and 40% soil moisture, respectively. At 10 days after herbicide application, plant height of rice was severely inhibited in 1cm-seeding depth and 50% soil moisture, and the degree of inhibition was severer at application of pendi+molinate EC as compared to that of butachlor EC. On the other hand, plant heigth of barnyardgrass by treatment of herbicides was severely reduced regardless of seeding depth and soil moisture. The lengths of barnyardgrass mesocotyl and rice coleoptile were increased with increasing seeding depth and were severely inhibited by applied herbicides in 1cm-seeding depth under dry-seeded rice condition. The dry weight of rice at different leaching times after herbicides application showed slightly decreasing trend as the leaching time was delayed, but the growth of barnyardgrass was very severely inhibited regardless of the leaching time. In addition, the phytotoxicity of rice showed decreasing trend with the increase in transplanting depth and delay of application time under early rice seedling condition.

Variation of Panicle Differentiation Stage by Leaf Growth According to Rice Cultivars and Transplanting Time (품종과 이앙시기별 엽 생장속도에 의한 벼의 유수분화시기 변화)

  • The time of panicle initiation change by transplanting date, and this change is affected by heading ecotype and seedling age. So we assessed the variations of panicle initiation, spikelet differentiation and heading date affected by transplanting dates, rice cultivars and seedling ages. And we compared the growth durations and meterological factors between chief growth stages. The differences of growth duration from transplanting date to spikelet differentiation by seedling age were 1~3 days in all transplanting of Unkwang, but it increased to 4 days in Hwayeong transplanting on May 1 and June 30, and Nampyeong transplanting on June 30. The growth durations from panicle initiation to heading of Unkwang and Hwayeong increased until transplanting time by May 31, and decreased thereafter. The growth durations of Nampyeong increased in transplanting on May 16 and May 31. In each transplanting, mean temperature of 30 days after heading was highest in early transplanting, but sunshine hours in the period were highest in transplanting on June 30 in Unkwang, in transplanting on June 15 in Hwayeong, and higher in transplanting on May 31 and June 15 in Nampyeong. The growth duration between spikelet differentiation and heading showed variation according to rice cultivars and transplanting date, Those were 22~26 days in Unkwang, 21~27 days in Hwayeong and 21~28 days in Nampyeong.

Varietal Differences on Growth Characteristics of Direct-sown Rice under No-tillage Paddy Field (남부지방의 벼 무경운 직파재배에서 품종간 생육특성 비교)

  • In order to establish a labour-saved and environment friendly paddy rice system in southern Korea, no-tillage paddy system was proposed and investigated from 1992 to 1993. Basically this system includes a complete return of crop residules into the soil, and zero-tillage. In an effort to minimize labour requirement in rice farming, several cultivars were directly sown and grown under the system and the characteristics of the growth and yield potential of the cultivars were compared with those grown in an ordinary paddy soil. Joryeongbyeo, Dongjinbyeo, Daeyabyeo and Calose rices showed high level of seedling establishment in the no-tillage padddy system. However, the value was significantly lower than in those of the cultivars direct-sown in an ordinary tillage paddy condition. The rice direct-sown and grown under the no-tillage paddy system showed significantly decreased number of tillers per square meter and plant height, but increased ripened grains. The lodging-related characteristics of rice plant, such as band breaking weight, the length of top 3rd ∼4th internodes, the height of weight center, and lodging index, were observed positive aspects in cultivars such as Hwasungbyeo, Hwayongbyeo, Joryeongbyeo, Calose and Calose 76 and being considered adaptable to direct-sown under the no-tillage paddy system.

Comparison of Rice Growth and Yield in Different Direct Seeding Methods (벼 직파 유형별 생육 및 수량 비교 연구)

  • The field trial was performed to evaluate the rice growth and yield in different direct seeding methods. The required time for seed emergence was for 8~ 9days in the tested direct seeding methods and there was high in seedling establishment according to wet hill-seeding with iron-coated seeds> wet hill-seeding with soil coverage>water seeding with iron-coated seeds and water seeding with pregerminated seeds as the conventional treatment. The rice plant height was taller in wet hill-seeding methods than that of water seeding with broadcasting method but there was not significant difference in terms of statistical analysis at 75day after seeding except the water seeding with pregerminated seeds. The growth of tiller number in the rice plant was highest in water seeding with iron-coated seeds. The milled rice yield was highest in water seeding with iron-coated seed being with 6.4t/ha and percentage of head rice was the highest in wet hill-seeding and water seeding with iron-coated seeds.

  • It was conducted to investigate the effect of rice downy mildew (RDM) infection to plant growth and yield components in water seeding stage, and to screen of varietal resistance to downy mildew. Being infected by rice downy mildew, chlorotic spot appeared in the leaf and leaf length was shortened. As the infected rice was growing, internode was not elongated properly and was deformed, and then panicle was not arised or mal-formed. Plant height of infected rice was shortened at all growth stage, and while the number of tillers of infected rice was more decreased than that of healthy plant before maximum tillering stage, and that of infected rice was more increased after heading stage. While the number of internode of infected tiller was much increased than that of healthy tiller internode length of infected tiller was shorter. As the rice infected by RDM severely, the number of panicles per square meter and ripening of rice was more decreased and yield of rice was extremely much decreased. As result of the varietal resistance screening with rice seedling, Geyh-wabyeo and Donjinbyeo were resistant varieties to downy mildew.

Assessing climate change response on runoff and T-N loads of rice growing season shift using coupled SWAT-APEX model (SWAT-APEX 연계 모형을 이용한 벼 생육기간 조절을 통한 기후변화 대응 영향 평가)

  • 본 연구에서는 SWAT 모형과 APEX-Paddy 모형의 연계 모델링을 통한 대표 BMP(Best management practice) 적용, 정식시기 및 벼 생육기간을 고려한 시나리오 적용을 통해 농업용수의 관리 및 수질환경 개선 등에 활용할 수 있는 저영향 영농활동을 분석하고자 하였다. 만경강 유역을 대상으로 SWAT 모형을 구축하고 유역 내에 위치한 논 시험포장을 대상으로 강우-유출 및 비점오염원 모니터링 자료를 활용하여 APEX-Paddy 모형을 구축하였다. SWAT 모형과 APEX 모형을 연계하여 유역의 수문, 수질에 대한 정밀한 모델링을 수행하였으며, 이는 저영향 영농활동을 분석하기 위한 필드단위의 정확한 결과를 유역차원에 반영하기 위함이다. 특히, 본 연구에 사용된 APEX-Paddy 모형은 농촌진흥청과 Texas A&M의 공동연구를 통해 개발된 새로운 모형으로서 한국의 논 영농활동 및 담수환경을 반영하여 논에서의 유출 및 비점오염원을 모의할 수 있다. 연계 모형의 적합성 평가를 위해 R2 (Determine of Coefficient), RMSE (Root mean square error), NSE (Nash-sutcliffe efficiency)를 사용하였다. 적합성 평가 지표를 분석한 결과, 유출량은 R2 평균 0.91, RMSE 평균 2.87 mm/day, NSE 평균 0.78로 나타났다. T-N 부하량은 R2 평균 0.74, RMSE 평균 59.3 kg/ha/day, NSE 평균 0.50으로 나타났다. 저영향 영농활동 관리방안을 위한 시나리오로 1) 논의 물꼬높이(BMP) 관리 적용, 2) 벼 생육기간 조절을 고려하여 기온변화에 따른 정식시기, 벼 생육기간 등을 조정하여 적용하였다. 기후변화 시나리오는 10개 GCM 모델의 RCP 8.5 시나리오를 통해 분석하였으며, 유역차원의 미래 영향을 분석한 결과, 물꼬관리 BMP에 따라 담수심이 증가되며, 관개량이 감소하고 유출량 10.7%, T-N 11.2% 저감되는 것을 나타냈으며, 벼 생육기간 조절은 BMP보다 상대적으로 효과가 높진 않았지만, 유출량 1.4%, T-N 3.1%의 저감효과를 나타냈다. 따라서 두 가지의 저영향 영농활동 관리방안은 미래기간의 기후변화에 대응하여 농업용수 및 물관리에 도움이 될 것으로 사료된다. 하지만 본 연구결과는 모델링 결과에 의존한 것이며, 추후 지속적인 연구와 보완이 필요하다.
