실험적 베리오그램의 모델링에 SA(Simulated Annealing)기법을 이용하였다.

This paper comprises two specific objectives. The first is to examine the applicability of Ordinary Kriging interpolation(OK) to finite element method that is based on variogram modeling in conjunction with different allowable limits of separation distance. The second is to investigate the accuracy according to theoretical variograms such as polynomial, Gauss, and spherical models. For this purpose, the weighted least square method is applied to obtain the estimated new stress field from the stress data at the Gauss points. The weight factor is determined by experimental and theoretical variograms for interpolation of stress data apart from the conventional interpolation methods that use an equal weight factor. The validity of the proposed approach has been tested by analyzing two numerical examples. It is noted that the numerical results by Gauss model using 25% allowable limit of separation distance show an excellent agreement with theoretical solutions in literature.
In this paper, we propose a spatial filtering scheme using factorial kriging, one of geostatistical filtering methodin order to separate regional and residual gravity anomaly. This scheme is based on the assumption that regional anomalies have longer distance relation and residual anomalies have effected on smaller range. We decomposed gravity anomalies intotwo variogram models with long and short effectiveranges by means of factorial kriging. And decomposed variogram models produced the regional and residual anomalies. This algorithm was examined using by a synthetic gravity data, and applied to a real microgravity data to figure out abandoned mineshaft.
Recently, a considerable number of studies have been conducted on the high resolution imagery showing the boundaries of objects clearly. When urban areas are analyzed in detail using the high resolution imagery, the size of analyzed zone is apt to be decided arbitrarily. Sufficient prior information about study area makes the decision of analysis zone possible; otherwise, it is difficult to determine the optimized analysis zone using only satellite imagery. In this study, the variograms of artificial simple images are analyzed before applying to the real satellite images. As a result of the analysis of simple images, the sill has an effect on the density of objects and also the size of objects and spacing influence the range. The variograms of real satellite images are analyzed with reference to the result of model test and are applied to determining the optimized analysis zone. This study shows that variogram can be applied to determining effectively the optimized analysis zone in case of no prior information on study area; moreover it will be expected to be used for an index to express the characteristics of urban imagery as well as conventional kriging and simulation.
In any applications using various types of spatial data, it is very important to account for the scale differences among available data sets and to change the scale to the target one as well. In this paper, we propose to use a geostatistical downscaling approach based on vaiorgram deconvloution and block simulation to generate fine-scale categorical thematic maps from coarse-scale fraction data. First, an iterative variogram deconvolution method is applied to estimate a point-support variogram model from a block-support variogram model. Then, both a direct sequential simulation based on area-to-point kriging and the estimated point-support variogram are applied to produce alternative fine-scale fraction realizations. Finally, a maximum a posteriori decision rule is applied to generate the fine-scale categorical thematic maps. These analytical steps are illustrated through a case study of land-cover mapping only using the block fraction data of thematic classes without point data. Alternative fine-scale fraction maps by the downscaling method presented in this study reproduce the coarse-scale block fraction values. The final fine-scale land-cover realizations can reflect overall spatial patterns of the reference land-cover map, thus providing reasonable inputs for the impact assessment in change of support problems.

The objective of this study was to improve the accuracy of calculation and estimation of solar radiation and duration of sunshine, which are the most important variables of photovoltaic power generation in deciding the location of photovoltaic facilities efficiently. With increasing interest in new and renewable energies, research on solar energy is also being conducted actively, but there have not been many studies on the location of photovoltaic facilities. Thus, this study calculated solar duration and solar radiation based on geographical factors, which have the most significant effect on solar energy in GIS environment, and corrected the results of analysis using diffuse radiation. Moreover, we performed ordinary kriging, a spatial statistical analysis method, for estimating values for parts deviating from the spatial resolution of input data, and used variogram, which can determine the spatial interrelation and continuity of data, in order to estimate accurate values. In the course, we compared the values of variogram factors and estimates from applicable variogram models, and selected the model with the lowest error rate. This method is considered helpful to accurate decision making on the location of photovoltaic facilities.
Site index information given from forest site map only exist in the sampled locations. In this study, site index for unsampled locations were estimated using kriging interpolation method which can interpolate values between point samples to generate a continuous surface. Site index of Pinus densiplora in Danyang area were calculated using Chapman-Richards model by plot unit. Then site index for unsampled locations were interpolated by theoretical variogram models and ordinary kriging. Also in order to assess parameter selection, cross-validation was performed by calculating mean error (ME), average standard error (ASE) and root mean square error (RMSE). In result, gaussian model was excluded because of the biggest relative nugget (37.40%). Then spherical model (16.80%) and exponential model (8.77%) were selected. Site index estimates of Pinus densiplora throughout the entire area in Danyang showed 4.39~19.53 based on exponential model, and 4.54~19.23 based on spherical model. By cross-validation, RMSE had almost no difference. But ME and ASE from spherical model were slightly lower than exponential model. Therefore site index prediction map from spherical model were finally selected. Average site index from site prediction map was 10.78. It can be expected that regional variance can be considered by site index prediction map in order to estimate forest biomass which has big spatial variance and eventually it is helpful to improve an accuracy of forest carbon estimation.

Climatic variables such as temperature and precipitation tend to vary both in space and in time simultaneously. Thus, it is necessary to include space-time autocorrelation into conventional spatial interpolation methods for reliable time-series mapping. This paper introduces and applies space-time variogram modeling and space-time kriging to generate time-series temperature maps using hourly Automatic Weather System(AWS) temperature observation data for a one-month period. First, temperature observation data are decomposed into deterministic trend and stochastic residual components. For trend component modeling, elevation data which have reasonable correlation with temperature are used as secondary information to generate trend component with topographic effects. Then, space-time variograms of residual components are estimated and modelled by using a product-sum space-time variogram model to account for not only autocorrelation both in space and in time, but also their interactions. From a case study, space-time kriging outperforms both conventional space only ordinary kriging and regression-kriging, which indicates the importance of using space-time autocorrelation information as well as elevation data. It is expected that space-time kriging would be a useful tool when a space-poor but time-rich dataset is analyzed.

Geo-layer information is important to determine pile length and estimate residual settlement in the construction site. An overall spatial distribution of geo-layers in the entire construction site can be predicted using drill-log information. In this study, the geo-layer distribution at Song-do area was estimated by kriging and inverse distance weighting methods, and a cross validation was adopted to verify the reliability of estimation results. The analysis results indicate that the best fitted theoretical variogram model to the experimental variogram does not always provide the most reliable estimation in the kriging method. The proper $\alpha$ value of inverse distance weighting method must be determined by types of geo-layer, because the $\alpha$ value is affected by types of geo-layer. Results of the kriging method show more reliable results than those of inverse distance weighting method, and the structure of geo-layer distribution could be evaluated by variogram in the kriging method.
A stochastic continuum(SC) modeling technique was developed to simulate the groundwater flow pathway in fractured rocks. This model was developed to overcome the disadvantageous points of discrete fracture network(DFN) modes which has the limitation of fracture numbers. Besides, SC model is able to perform probabilistic analysis and to simulate the conductive groundwater pathway as discrete fracture network model. The SC model was formulated based on the discrete fracture network(DFN) model. The spatial distribution of permeability in the stochastic continuum model was defined by the probability distribution and variogram functions defined from the permeabilities of subdivided smaller blocks of the DFN model. The analysis of groundwater travel time was performed to show the consistency between DFN and SC models by the numerical experiment. It was found that the stochastic continuum modes was an appropriate way to provide the probability density distribution of groundwater velocity which is required for the probabilistic safety assessment of a radioactive waste disposal facility.
