Measurements and Numerical Analysis of Electric Cart and Fuel Cell to Estimate Operating Characteristic of FCEV (연료전지 자동차의 주행성능 예측을 위한 전기자동차 및 연료전지의 성능실험과 수학적 모델링)

  • In new generation vehicle technologies, a fuel cell vehicle becomes more important, by virtue of their emission merits. In addition, a fuel cell is considered as a major source to generate the electricity for vehicles in near future. This paper focuses on modeling of not only an electric vehicle and but also a fuel cell vehicle to estimate performances. And an EV cart is manufactured to verify the modeling. Speed, voltage, and current of the vehicle and modeling are compared to estimate them at acceleration test and driving mode test. The estimations are also compared with the data of the Ballard Nexa fuel cell stack. In order to investigate a fuel cell based vehicle, motor and fuel cell models are integrated in a electric vehicle model. The characteristics of individual components are also integrated. Calculated fuel cell equations show good agreements with test results. In the fuel cell vehicle simulation, maximum speed and hydrogen fuel consumption are estimated. Even though there is no experimental data from vehicle tests, the vehicle simulation showed physically-acceptable vehicle characteristics.

  • A large signal stability analysis of the solar array regulator system is performed to facilitate the design and analysis of a Low-Earth-Orbit satellite power system. The effective load characteristics of every controllable method in the solar array system are classified to analyze the large signal stability. Then, using the state plane analysis technique, the stability of various equilibrium points is analyzed. A nonlinear transformation algorithm, which changes the effective load characteristic of the solar array regulator as constant resistive load, is also proposed for the large signal stability. The proposed resistive current mode control system can control the solar array output for purposes such as peak power tracking control and battery charging control. For the verification of the proposed large signal analysis and resistive current mode control, a solar array regulator system consisting of two 100W parallel module buck converters has been built and tested using a real 200W solar array.

  • The plug-in hybrid electric vehicle has a high fuel economy and can be driven long distances. Its different modes include the electric vehicle, hybrid electric vehicle, and only engine operating mode. A power management strategy is important to determine which mode should be selected. The strategy makes the vehicle more efficient using appropriate power sources for driving. However, the strategy usually needs a driving speed profile which is future driving cycle. If the profile is known, the strategy easily determines which mode is driven efficiently. However, it is difficult to estimate the speed profile for a real system. To address this problem, this paper proposes a new power distribution strategy using a neural network. The average speed and driving range are used as input parameters to train the neural network system. The strategy determines a limit for the use of the battery and the desired power is distributed between the engine and the motor simultaneously. Its fuel economy can increase by improving the basic strategy.

Take-off and landing assistance system for efficient operation of compact drone CCTV in remote locations (원격지의 초소형 드론 CCTV의 효율적인 운영을 위한 이착륙 보조 시스템)

  • In the case of fixed CCTV, there is a problem in that a shadow area occurs, even if the visible range is maximized by utilizing the pan-tilt and zoom functions. The representative solution for that problem is that a plurality of fixed CCTVs are used. This requires a large amount of additional equipment (e.g., wires, facilities, monitors, etc.) proportional to the number of the CCTVs. Another solution is to use drones that are equipped with cameras and fly. However, Drone's operation time is much short. In order to extend the time, we can use multiple drones and can fly one by one. In this case, drones that need to recharge their batteries re-enter into a ready state at the drone port for next operation. In this paper, we propose a system for precised positioning and stable landing on the drone port by utilizing a small drone equipped with a fixed forward-facing monocular camera. For our conclusion, we implement our proposed system, operate, and finally verify our feasibility.

휴대형 당도판정센서를 이용한 배의 당도 판정

  • 과수원에서 재배되는 배는 과수원 내의 위치, 시비, 토양 등의 요인에 따라 다양한 품질을 나타내며, 당도와 숙도의 편차가 크기 때문에 과수농가에서는 경험에 의존하여 적정 숙기로 판단되는 배를 수확하고 있다. 그러나 과학적이지 못한 사실에 기초한 수확 관행은 시장유통되는 배에 대하여 소비자들의 신뢰성 저하를 초래하게 되고 소비 감소와 더불어 농가 소득 감소로 이어지게 된다. 최근, 전국의 청과물 산지유통센터에는 근적외선을 이용하여 과일 내부의 당도, 산도, 결함 등을 실시간으로 판정할 수 있는 비파괴 선별기가 보급되고 있으나 이는 수확이후의 선별.규격화 유통을 위한 것이다. 본 연구에서는 이와는 달리, 수확 이전, 즉 재배 단계에서 배의 당도와 숙도를 판정하여 수확적기를 판단할 수 있도록 나무에 매달린 배에 대하여 가시광선과 근적외선 반사스펙트럼을 측정할 수 있고 이를 이용하여 당도와 숙도가 판정가능한 휴대형 센서를 개발하였으며, 개발된 시작기를 이용하여 당도판정의 가능성을 시험하였다. 휴대형 당도판정센서는 광원과 광섬유프로브, 광검출부, 당도판정부, 전원공급부로 구성된다. 광원은 할로겐램프(6V)를 이용하였고, 광섬유프로브는 동심원 형태로서 외부의 광섬유를 통하여 광원에서 시료로 빛이 조사되게 하고, 내부의 광섬유를 통하여 광검출기로 확산반사되는 광이 전달될 수 있도록 하였다. 전원공급부는 휴대와 충전이 가능한 배터리(12V, 2AH)와 이 배터리에서 정전류가 광원으로 보내어 질 수 있도록 제작된 회로로 구성하였다. 당도 판정을 위하여 518nm에서 1046nm의 파장대역에서의 반사스펙트럼을 이용하였고, 레퍼런스로써 백색 테플론 구를 제작하여 사용하였다. 수원 농산물 도매시장에서 판매중인 2002년산 신고 배를 구매하고, 시작기를 이용하여 총 113개의 배에 대한 반사스펙트럼을 측정하였다. 다음으로 굴절당도계로 당도값을 측정하고 반사스펙트림을 이용하여 당도값을 예측하기 위한 부분최소제곱회귀(PLSR)모델을 개발하였다. 여기서 모델의 정밀도는 교차검정법을 이용하여 검증하였다. 시료 표면과 광섬유프로브와의 접촉상태 불균일, 광원의 시간에 따른 경시 변화, 과일 형상의 차이 등에 의하여 측정된 반사스펙트럼은 상당한 변이를 나타내었으므로 이를 보정하기 위하여 반사 스펙트럼은 다분산보정처리하여 이용하였다. 당도 예측용 PLSR모델 개발의 결과, 모델의 결정계수($R^2$)는 0.67, SEC는 $\pm$0.4brix.로 나타났으며, 교차검정에 의한 미지 시료의 예측에서 총 113개의 미지 시료에 대한 결정계수는 0.57, SEP는 $\pm$ 0.46brix.로 나타났으며, 이는 현장에서 충분히 활용가능할 것으로 판단되었다. 금후, 전체 시스템의 부피와 중량을 줄이고 각 부분품들의 전력소모의 최소화할 수 있도록 개선할 계획이다.

Comparison of Control Strategies for Military Series-Type HEVs in Terms of Fuel Economy Based on Vehicle Simulation (시뮬레이션을 이용한 군용 직렬형 HEV 의 주행 전략에 따른 연비 성능 비교에 관한 연구)

  • Military vehicles, compared to conventional vehicles, require higher driving performance, quieter operation, and longer driving distances with minimal fuel supplies. The series hybrid electric vehicle can be driven with no noise and has high initial startup performance, because it uses only a traction motor that has a high startup torque to drive the vehicle. Moreover, the fuel economy can be improved if the vehicle is hybridized. In series hybrid electric vehicles, the electric generation system, which consists of an engine and a generator, supplies electric energy to a battery or traction motor depending on the vehicle driving state and battery state of charge (SOC). The control strategy determines the operation of the generation system. Thus, the fuel economy of the series hybrid electric vehicle relies on the control strategy. In this study, thermostat, power-follower, and combined strategies were compared, and a 37% improvement in the fuel economy was implemented using the combined control strategy suggested in this study.

Smart Electric Mobility Operating System Integrated with Off-Grid Solar Power Plants in Tanzania: Vision and Trial Run (탄자니아의 태양광 발전소와 통합된 전기 모빌리티 운영 시스템 : 비전과 시범운행)

  • To respond to the threat of global warming, countries around the world are promoting the spread of renewable energy and reduction of carbon emissions. In accordance with the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goal to combat climate change and its impacts, global automakers are pushing for a full transition to electric vehicles within the next 10 years. Electric vehicles can be a useful means for reducing carbon emissions, but in order to reduce carbon generated in the stage of producing electricity for charging, a power generation system using eco-friendly renewable energy is required. In this study, we propose a smart electric mobility operating system integrated with off-grid solar power plants established in Tanzania, Africa. By applying smart monitoring and communication functions based on Arduino-based computing devices, information such as remaining battery capacity, battery status, location, speed, altitude, and road conditions of an electric vehicle or electric motorcycle is monitored. In addition, we present a scenario that communicates with the surrounding independent solar power plant infrastructure to predict the drivable distance and optimize the charging schedule and route to the destination. The feasibility of the proposed system was verified through test runs of electric motorcycles. In considering local environmental characteristics in Tanzania for the operation of the electric mobility system, factors such as eco-friendliness, economic feasibility, ease of operation, and compatibility should be weighed. The smart electric mobility operating system proposed in this study can be an important basis for implementing the SDGs' climate change response.

  • The advantage of electric taxies is that people who are not familiar with electric vehicle(EV) can have easily experience to ride EV. So, EV taxi would be a reasonable strategy for triggering EV market expansion. However, the EV taxi can be adopted by taxi companies with financial benefits. Therefore the feasibility study should be required by analyzing the cost with the points of view of the taxi company. In this study we suggested the methodology for feasibility study of the EV taxi based on the real taxi data and presented political implication. According to the study result, EV taxies could have economic value under the specific conditions such that the government subsidy is added to the purchase price of the vehicle. Also, the charging time should be used as drivers' rest time or mealtime in order not to consider the loss cost. We suggest that the new feasibility study which compares an EV taxi with other alternative vehicles such as PHEV or with an old EV taxi is needed as the future works.

  • In this paper, the research on the energy storage system adapting super-capacitor has been performed. The most advanced features compared to the conventional lead-acid battery systems is that it can obtain high power capability due to the super capacitor power characteristics. The suggested system can attain high power in short times and achieve high power quality improvements. The application areas are power quality improvement system, motor start power which requires high power during transient times. The energy conversion system consists of bi-directional converter and inverter and advantages of high speed, high power charging and discharging performances. The design steps for the two loop controller of the bi-directional inverter are suggested and verified by the experiment and manufacturing. The two loop controller design starts from linearized transfer function which is calculated from the state averaging model including state decoupling method. The current controller requirements are 20% overshoot and settling time and voltage controller are no overshoot and settling time which is 10 times longer than current controller. The design is verified from the step input response. The designed controllers have unity power factor characteristics and thus can improve the power quality of the grid. It also has fast response time and zero steady state error.

A survey on installation and management of automated external defibrillators (자동심장충격기 설치현황 및 관리 실태 조사)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the status of the installation, maintenance and management of automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) in all mandatory institutions and buildings of the providence to be equipped with AEDs. The study was conducted from November 20, 2017 to December 20, 2017, during which time 169 AED units were surveyed. The collected data was analyzed by frequency analysis and the percentage was determined using the SPSS/WIN 20.0 program. A total of 168 units (99.41%) of AEDs were installed inside. Additionally, 47 units (27.80%) were available 24 hours a day, and 44 units (26.00%) were available outside business hours of the institution. Moreover, 87 units (51.43%) of the responsible managers received rescue and first aid training. Evaluation of the management status of the AEDs revealed two (1.20%) that had problems with their battery state of charge battery charge and seven (4.10%) for which the AED pads were past the expiration date. A management system for the manager of AEDs should be established and a regular training program for their systematic maintenance should be developed and applied. It is also suggested that awareness of the necessity of continuous management be raised through reinforcement of laws and legal system reorganization.
