A Study on Reliability Evaluation for Embedded Software (임베디드 소프트웨어 신뢰성 평가에 관한 연구)

  • Nowadays there are gradually the importance issues of embedded software for productivity as the fusion and complexity of industry. Especially, people are recognizing the importance of reliability within the embedded software systems(e.g. weapons and medical equipments, etc.). It makes currently mention of software reliability on ISO/IEC 9126, 12119, etc.. However, it is insufficient for the embedded software area in spite of being mentioned the generic software. To do this, we suggest our embedded software reliability assessment through extracting the embedded software meaurement items from reliability assessment items of ISO/IEC 9126, 12119 series.

A Stepwise Rating Prediction Method for Recommender Systems (추천 시스템을 위한 단계적 평가치 예측 방안)

  • Collaborative filtering based recommender systems are currently indispensable function of commercial systems in various fields, being a useful service by providing customized products that users will prefer. However, there is a high possibility that the prediction of preferrable products is inaccurate, when the user's rating data are insufficient. In order to overcome this drawback, this study suggests a stepwise method for prediction of product ratings. If the application conditions of the prediction method corresponding to each step are not satisfied, the method of the next step is applied. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, experiments using a public dataset are conducted. As a result, our method significantly improves prediction and precision performance of collaborative filtering systems employing various conventional similarity measures and outperforms performance of the previous methods for solving rating data sparsity.

  • A condition access system (CAS) refers to a hardware-based system that allows only authenticated users to have access to contents. The CAS has many disadvantages found in that in the replacement of multiple service operator (MSO) a set-top box should be also changed and the smart-card often causes malfunction. To deal with the problems, exchangeable CAS (XCAS) was developed in 2009. However the standards or evaluation schemes for XCAS are absent. Existing evaluation schemes are not appropriate for evaluating XCAS due to the evaluation standard, the evaluation cost and efficiencies. Therefore, a specific scheme that can evaluate the security and suitability of exchangeable conditional access systems has been requested. In this paper, we propose an appropriate evaluation scheme for XCAS. The evaluation scheme includes an evaluation purpose and four components to evaluate the evaluation target, the evaluation process, the evaluation subject, and the evaluation cost involved.

Efficient Performance Evaluation Method for Digital Satellite Broadcasting Channels (효율적인 디지틀 위성방송채널 성능평가 기법)

  • In this paper, the efficient new performance evaluation method for digital communication channels is suggested and verified its efficiency in terms of simulation run-tim for the digital satellite broadcasting satellite TV channel. In order to solve the difficulties of the existing Importance Sampling(IS) Technics, we adopted the discrete probability mass function(PMF) in the new method for estimating the statistical characteristics of received signals from the measured Nth order central moments. From the discrete probability mass function obtained with less number of the received signal than the one required in the IS technic, continuous cumulative probability function and its inverse function are exactly estimated by using interpolation and extrapolation technic. And the overall channel is simplified with encoding block, inner channel performance degra-dation modeing block which is modeled with the Uniform Random Number Generator (URNG) and concatenated Inverse Cummulative Pr bility Distribution function, and decoding block. With the simplified channel model, the overall performance evaluation can be done within a drastically reduced time. The simulation results applied to the nonlinear digital satellite broadcasting TV channel showed the great efficiency of the alogrithm in the sense of computer run time, and demonstrated that the existing problems of IS for the nonlinear satellite channels with coding and M-dimensional memory can be completely solved.

방송광고산업(放送廣告産業) 정부규제(政府規制)의 문제점(問題點)과 개선방안(改善方案)(II)

  • 본(本) 논문(論文)은 졸고(拙稿)(1989)에 이어 정부규제(政府規制)의 폐해가 특히 심각한 방송광고산업(放送廣告産業)에 초점을 두고 한국방송광고공사(韓國放送廣告公社)(KOBACO)라는 규제기구(規制機構)가 중심이 된 각종 규제(規制)의 쟁점(爭點)을 분석한 결과, 대부분의 규제(規制)가 폐지 혹은 완화되어 방송광고(放送廣告)의 시장기능(市場機能)이 활성화(活性化)되어야 함을 주장하고 있다. 조속(早速)한 시일내(時日內)에 규제개선(規制改善)이 필요한 정책과제(政策課題)는 방송광고시간규제(放送廣告時間規制)의 단계적 완화, 토막광고규제(廣告規制)의 단순화, 중간광고(中間廣告)의 허용, CATV 등 신규방송매체(新規放送媒體)의 확충, 규제요금(規制料金)의 단계적 인상, 매체별(媒體別) 시급구분(時級區分)의 자율성 확대를 통한 요금체계(料金體系)의 합리화, "rotation time"제(制) 도입, KOBACO의 수탁수수료(受託手數料) 폐지, 민간대행수수료(民間代行手數料)의 인상, 계열(系列) 비계열(非系列)의 수수료차별화(手數料差別化) 폐지, 복수대행(複數代行)자유화, 한국언론회관(韓國言論會館)의 정부광고독점대행권(政府廣告獨占代行權) 폐지, 방송광고사전심의제(放送廣告事前審議制) 폐지, 매체(媒體)의 대행사(代行社) 소유(所有) 지배(支配) 경영(經營) 차단 등이다. 한편 시청률조사(視聽率調査), ABC 등의 조기정착과 광고산업에 대한 공정거래법(公正去來法)의 적용 등은 시장기능(市場機能)의 전제(前提)가 되는 정책과제로서 제시되었다. 또한 KOBACO 독점대행권(獨占代行權)의 완전폐지, 방송광고요금(放送廣告料金)의 완전자율화, 시간규제(時間規制)의 추가적 완화 등은 이러한 규제개선을 완결시키는 과제로서 제시되었다. 본(本) 논문(論文)은 이러한 정책과제가 효율적으로 추진되려면 경제행정규제완화위원회(經濟行政規制緩和委員會)와 공정거래위원회(公正去來委員會)가 중심기구가 되어야 함을 강조하였다. 규제기능이 사라진 KOBACO의 위상변화는 본(本) 논문(論文)이 고려하지 않았던 지출기능(支出機能)의 평가에 따라 결정될 것이지만, 규제폐지에 관한 한 그 존재의의는 사라진다.

Analysis of Disaster News Frame of Host Broadcaster for Disaster Broadcasting Services : Focusing on Zika Virus News (국내 재난 주관방송사의 재난보도 프레임 분석 : 지카 바이러스 보도를 중심으로)

  • Domestic broadcasting companies are obliged to provide the disaster information quickly to protect the public from the disaster, and people can prepare the disaster. Especially, Korea Broadcasting System (KBS) has a duty to deliver disaster news more quickly and accurately than other broadcasting companies because it is designated as a host broadcaster for disaster broadcasting services in accordance with Article 43 of the Broadcasting Act. This study examined how the KBS deals with social disaster news related to Zika virus, and evaluated whether they used the frames in a timely manner to help people prepare a disaster. Based on the results of this analysis, this study tried to suggest practical implications for measures to improve the efficiency and reliability of disaster news report.

Video Copy Detection Algorithm Against Online Piracy of DTV Broadcast Program (DTV 방송프로그램의 온라인 불법전송 차단을 위한 비디오 복사본 검출 알고리즘)

  • This paper presents a video copy detection algorithm that blocks online transfer of illegally copied DTV broadcast programs. Particularly, the proposed algorithm establishes a set of keyframes by detecting abrupt changes of luminance, and then exploits the spatio-temporal features of keyframes. Comparing with the preregistered features stored in the database of DTV broadcast programs, the proposed scheme performs a function of video filtering in order to distinguish whether an uploaded video is illegally copied or not. Note that we analyze only a set of keyframes instead of an entire video frame. Thus, it is highly efficient to identify illegal copied video when we deal with a vast size of broadcast programs. Also, we confirm that the proposed technique is robust to a variety of video edit-effects that are often applied by online video redistribution, such as apsect-ratio change, logo insertion, caption insertion, visual quality degradation, and resolution change (downscaling). In addition, we perform a benchmark test in which the proposed scheme outperforms previous techniques.

The Exploration of the New Model of the Committee for Viewers in PBS (방송사 시청자위원회의 새로운 모델 탐색)

  • As the mobilization of audience' media consumption getting escalating, terrestrial broadcasting, especially public broadcasting is severely affected in Korea. After 9 years' downfall, public broadcasting is trying to aim for citizen platform. Even though the Korean broadcasting law already has the articles of protecting viewer's right and profit, it has some contradictory limits also. Implied by Japanese magazine Taberutsushin, which was originated from CSA model, I suggest the new model of committee for viewers. The new committee for viewers has various planning committees and evaluation committees to ensure citizen's participation on planning, programming, and production. The new committee for viewers would function as minimum system to prompt the public broadcasting to play it's role in rapidly changing digital era.

A Study on the comparison of radio broadcasting service status to improve use (라디오방송서비스 이용현황 비교와 이용 제고 방안 )

  • In this paper, the current status of domestic radio use was compared with foreign countries such as the UK and the US. As a result of the comparison, it was found that the radio reach in both the UK and the US was very high at around 90%, but in Korea it was found to be very low at 21.7%. In addition, in the UK and the US, radio broadcasting is recognized as an important medium for delivering disaster warning messages in the event of a disaster, but in Korea, the importance of radio broadcasting in disaster situations was assessed at 0.7%, confirming that its importance is being overlooked. And the measures to increase the domestic radio broadcasting usage rate are 'Improving service quality such as expanding radio reception coverage', 'Awareness of the importance of radio broadcasting as a disaster warning medium', 'Introduction of digital radio' and 'Introduction of FM radio data broadcasting'. are presented.
