By using geometrical structure of Fresnel lens, it can be applied with receiver antenna and geodetic system. In this paper, radiation pattern from fresnel lens array of Soret type is calculate by the FDTD method. For simplicity, fresnel lens should be located linearly and considered to be dielectric rod with a relative permittivity.

A variety of factors such as the pattern of intake (acute or chronic), monitoring interval and the characteristics of the radionuclides could have a significant influence on the estimates for the intake and internal dose. The relative differences of the assessed intakes based on the assumption of an acute intake to that of a chronic intake were evaluated by using the predicted bioassay quantity in the whole body or organs for an acute and chronic intake through the inhalation of $^{125}$ I, $^{137}$ C, $^{235}$ U with the AMAD of 1 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and 5 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ for the monitoring intervals of 7, 14, 30, 60, 90, 120, 180, 360 days, respectively, The relative difference of the assessed intakes based on the intake pattern is affected by the monitoring interval, radionuclide and absorption type, but the particle size has little influence on the difference of the assessed intakes based on the intake pattern. The maximum monitoring interval, which is defined as the monitoring interval that the relative difference of the assessed intakes based on the assumption of an acute intake to that of a chronic intake is less than 10%, is 60 d for $^{125}$ I with Type F, 180 d for $^{137}$ C with Type F, 90 d for $^{235}$ U with Type M, and 360 d for $^{235}$ U with Type S. It was concluded that an intake pattern has little influence on the estimates of the assessed intake in the case where the monitoring interval is shorter than the maximum monitoring interval for each radionuclide.
The purpose of this study was to find out the difference of radiation dose value through energy, exposure number, fluoroscopy time, the number of days of exposed scatter X-ray when TLD and OSLD is used in diagnostic radiology. The difference of value were measured by relative ratio and interval. Energy makes high relative ratio of TLD($1.81{\pm}0.41$) than OSLD($1.40{\pm}0.26$), exposure number makes high of OSLD($1.40{\pm}0.26$) than TLD($2.10{\pm}0.10$). There are no significant differences between relative ratio of TLD and OSLD in fluoroscopy time and the number of days of exposed scatter X-ray. But interval of relative ratio in the number of days of exposed scatter X-ray was narrowed in less 0.2. That means, the measurement of scatter X-ray could more confident in TLD and OSLD than the measurement of direct ray. In conclusion, we have to recognize the relative ratio of TLD and OSLD could be vary depending on exposed condition of radiation. And in some cases, double test of TLD and OSLD get more creditable results of dose value.

Collection Efficiency of a tritium bubbler being used at domestic nuclear power plants was studied. Equilibrium is attained while tritium vapour in air passes through the bubbler. When a lot of gas sample passes through the bubbler, the tritium concentration of water is raised and volume of water is decreased or increased. These phenomena give effect to the collection efficiency. Estimation of the tritium concentration of the water agreed with our experiments. If relative humidity is higher than 0.5, the efficiency becomes lower than 1 and if relative humidity is lower than 0.5, the efficiency becomes higher than 1, provided collected tritium is evaluated with original volume of the water. Though the relative humidity is riot 0.5, the efficiency can be maintained near 1 by making $\frac{saturated\; water\; vapour(cm^3_w)\times volume \; of \; gas \; sample(cm^3)}{volume\; of\; water(cm^3)}$ small
Cracking of rice caused by moisture migration during storage under different relative humidity conditions was investigated for the establishment of safe storage condition of rice. Rice was cracked when a large difference in equilibrium relative humidity $({\Delta}ERH)$ between the rice and the environment was present. External and internal cracks were generated as the results of moisture desorption and adsorption, respectively. The external cracks by moisture desorption generated in all directions and shaped irregularly, while the internal cracks by moisture adsorption did in radial direction and showed a typical shape. The cracking trend could be analyzed by the Weibull function, and the cracking constant increased with ${\Delta}ERH$. The frequency of cracked rice increased linearly with In $({\Delta}ERH)$. The critical crack-inducing ${\Delta}ERH$ was $11.3{\sim}16.4%$ during desorption and $10.8{\sim}17.1%$ during adsorption. A diagram for the safe storage of rice was developed with respect to the initial moisture content and the water activity of rice.
The aim of this study is to introduce the accuracy of Ir-192 source's apparent activity using the well-type chamber and the Farmer-type ionization chamber in the high dose rate brachytherapy. We measured the apparent activity of Ir-192 that each medical center in the country has and the apparent activity of calibration certificate provided by manufacturer is compared with that by our experimental measurement. The number of sources used for the activity comparison was 5. The accuracy of the measured activity was in the range of -2.8% to -1.0% and -2.1% to 0.2% for the Farmer-type chamber system (Jig) and for the well-type, respectively. The maximum difference was within 1.0% for comparison with two calibration's tool. Our results demonstrate that well-type chamber as wall as Farmer-type chamber is a appropriate system as the routine source calibration procedures in HDR brachytherapy. Whenever a new source is installed to use in clinics, by periods, a source calibration should be carried out.
Purpose: The studied the effect of such variables as the symptom improvement rate, survival and prognostic factors on the treatment results of radiation therapy for Superior Vena Cava Syndrome (SVCS). Materials and Methods: From 1988 to 2003, seventy two patients with SVCS were treated with radiation therapy at the Department of Radiation Oncology, Keimyung University Dongsan Medical Center. The patients' ages ranged from 10 to 83 years old with the median age being 61, and sixty four patients were male. For the causes of the SVCS, 64 patients had lung cancer, four had metastatic lung cancer, two had malignant lymphoma and two had thymoma. The radiotherapy was delivered with 6-MV X-rays and all patients received above 900 cGy up to 6,600 cGy, with the median dose being 4,000 cGy The follow-up periods were from 1 to 180 months with a median of 5.6 months. Results: The main clinical manifestations were dyspnea ($84.7\%$), facial edema ($81.9\%$), arm edema ($22.2\%$), neck vein distension ($25\%$), hoarseness ($12.5\%$) and facial plethora ($5.6\%$). Eighty percent of patients achieved excellent to good symptom improvement and $19.4\%$ experienced minimal improvement. The median survival period was 5.1 months, and overall survival rates were $17.7\%$ at 2 years (2YOS) and $14.8\%$ at five years (5YOS) for all the patients. The median survival period, the two and five year disease free survival rates were 4.3 months, $16.7\%$ and $13.4\%$ for the lung cancer patients, respectively. The total tumor dose was a statistically significant survival factor on the univariate analysis for the patients with lung cancer (2YSR; > 30 Gy, $25.6\%$, $\leq$ 30 Gy $6.7\%$, p<0.01). On the multivariated analysis, a higher total tumor dose (p<0.01) and younger age (p<0.05) were statistically significant factors of survival for the lung cancer patients. Patients with NSCLC showed better survival than did the patients with SCLC, but this was not statistically significant (p > 0.05), Conclusion: Radiation therapy for the patients with SVCS due to malignancy could be an effective treatment. We considered that radiation therapy above 30 Gy of the total tumor dose may improve survival for SVCS due to lung cancer.
Mediastinal hemangioma is a rare tumor and only few cases have been reported in the literatures. We have experienced one case of cavernous hemangioma occuring at the superior vena cana. The patient was a thrity-five year old female with no specific symtoms except palpable cystic mass in the right cervical area. A routine chest radiography showed an upper mediastinal mass. Computed Tomography showed about 4$\times$5 cm sized cystic mass communicating to the superior vena cava 2 cm above of the veno-atrial junction. After the evaluation, surgical excision was performed and the pathologic diagnosis was confirmed to cavernous hemangioma. Postoperative course was uneventful and the patient has been followed up without any problems.
