Setting Behavior of Polystyrene Mortars with Elapsed Curing Time (폴리스티렌 모르타르의 양생재령에 따른 경화거동)

  • This study deals with the setting behavior of polystyrene mortars using waste expanded polystyrene(EPS) solution-based binders. The binders for polystyrene mortars are made by mixing crosslinking agent with EPS solutions prepared by dissolving EPS in styrene. Polystyrene mortars are prepared with various EPS concentrations of EPS solutions and crosslinking agent contents, subjected to a dry curing, and tested for working life, peak exotherm temperature and 10h-length change. From the test results, He working lives of polystyrene mortars are shortened with raising EPS concentration of EPS solution and crosslinking agent content. Low-shrinkage or non-shrinkage polystyrene mortars could be obtained by adjusting EPS concentration of EPS solution and crosslinking agent content.

Fundamental Properties of the Concrete Incorporating Coarse Particle Cement and Fly Ash (조립시멘트와 플라이애시를 조합 사용한 콘크리트의 기초적 특성)

  • This study analyzed is to investigate the effect of the combined use of fly ash and coarse particle cement(RCC) collected in particle classification method during ordinary portland cement(OPC) on the fundamental properties of concrete. Totally 16 batches of the concrete was fabricated vary the contends of FA and RCC. As results of experiment, in the case of flow, the more the contents of RCC, the larger the flow. And the more the contents of FA displacement rate increased, the less the flow. As for simple adiabatic temperature rise due to the RCC and FA contents, it decreased with the increase of them. And particularly in the case of RCC 30% + FA 30%, temperature rise amount, was very low. Compressive strength decreased in proportion to increase of the contents of FA and RCC. And strength ratio of the concrete incorporating FA and RCC for plain concrete at 28 days was 88%${\sim}$98%, which was relatively good results.

  • Short-circuit rotor windings on a generator causes unstable oscillation of unbalance of flux, asymmetrical heat. In order to prevent serious accidents of short-circuit rotor windings, it is important to study the shorted-turn diagnosis method for rotor windings of the generator. To improve the defects of the diagnosis with sensors, the new sensorless method for rotor shorted-turn diagnosis is proposed, which is to measure the electrical values of the voltage and current at the generator and then to detect if the shorted-turned phenomena would occurred. For the feasibility of the suggested method the theoretical results are shown in the aspects of the air-gap flux density, the flux leakage, the generated output voltage and the shorted field current through the digital simulation. Also the possibility of decision for the suggested sensorless method could be shown in this paper.

Cause Analysis Ignited at a Far Infrared Radiation Heater (원적외선 히터에서 출화된 화재의 원인분석)

  • This research studied about the cause analysis of fire that was occurred in far infrared rays heater to base on the fire examples. Fire of electric heater was apt to commit error that handled an over-heating accident by judged molten mark in heat ray. Molten mark which was attached in heat ray was appeared to the form of layer short circuit by other metal material, but other metal material was not found beside the ingredient of heat wire which was mixed to an alloy of Fe-Cr-Al according to result of ingredient distribution by SEM/EDX. Also, the result of overheating experiment by layer short circuit and overvoltage showed higher febrility than normal, but there was no possibility of fire occurrence. This paper will be contributed to science for cause analysis of electric fire through analyzing physical, chemical and flame features of burnout heater on the basis of diagnosis of fire that was happened in infrared rays heater.

The Product properties of Bituminous Coal in Two-Stage Pyrolysis (유연탄의 이단 열분해에 따른 생성물의 특성)

  • Pyrolysis of bituminous coal has been carried out in a two-stage fixed bed reactor to produce high heating value gas(7000 kcal/N㎥) for industrial or town gas usage. The effects of coke catalyst, pyrolysis temperature (468∼565$^{\circ}C$), and catalytic cracking temperature (700∼850$^{\circ}C$) on the product gas properties from pyrolysis of bituminous coal have been determined. From pyrolysis of Dong Jin coal with coke, the carbon deposition on catalyst is found to be less than 5% of product tar and approximately 15% of total energy iii the parent coal can be recovered as high heating value gas. Oil composition in the product tar from the two-stage pyrolysis is higher than that from low-temperature pyrolysis. The tar produced from pyrolysis below 516$^{\circ}C$ can be easily catalytically cracked but, the tar produced above 565$^{\circ}C$ cannot be cracked easily with catalyst. From the product gas analysis, the catalytic cracking temperature should be maintained below 800$^{\circ}C$ since cracking speed of ethylene increases remarkably with the cracking temperature above 800$^{\circ}C$.

Characteristics of White Charcoal Produced from the Charcoal Kiln for Thermotherapy (온열욕 겸용 숯가마에서 생산된 백탄의 특성)

  • In this study, the characteristics of the white charcoal from charcoal kilns made for both charcoal production and thermotherapy and from the traditional charcoal kiln were compared and examined. A charcoal kiln for thermotherapy as a secondary purpose was made to minimize environmental problems such as fine dust and harmful gas generated from sealed charcoal kiln in consideration of comfort and safety. White Charcoal produced from the charcoal kiln for both charcoal production and thermotherapy had higher ash and volatile matter and lower fixed carbon than that from the traditional charcoal kiln. The density of the white charcoal produced from the charcoal kiln for both charcoal production and thermotherapy was slightly higher than that of the traditional one, but the equilibrium moisture content and pH were not significantly different. The calorific value, refinement degree, hardness and anatomical structure were not different between the two. It was concluded that the white charcoal produced from the advanced charcoal kiln for thermotherapy as a secondary purpose meets the quality certification standards of Korea Forest Research Institute.

A Review on Fuel Properties and Liquid Biofuels Production Technologies from Sewage Sludge (하수슬러지 유래 액상 바이오연료화 기술 및 연료 특성)

  • The utilization of sewage sludge for liquid biofuel production is considered as a approach for achieving better energy security, sustainable productivity and economical raw material. Thermochemical technologies of sewage sludge into energy and fuel has been considered as one of the most effective process. Generally, sewage sludge contains more than 80% of moisture, has high metal contents and 14 ~ 20 MJ/kg of calorific value. This paper reviews the technologies of converting sewage sludge to liquid biofuel via three main thermochemical conversion processes namely pyrolysis, transesterification and supercritical. The fuel properties of liquid fuels produced by different technologies from sewage sludge and definition in relevant laws for liquid biofuels in Korea are also discussed.

Fabrication of catalytic combustible gas sensor for hydrocarbon gas detection (탄화수소계 가스 감지용 접촉연소식 가스센서의 제조)

  • Catalytic combustible gas sensors were fabricated by using ${\gamma}-Al_{2}O_{3}$ with large surface area and noble metal catalysts. The optimum conditions for ${\gamma}-Al_{2}O_{3}$ fabrication were investigated by DT/TGA and XRD analyses and it was found that fabricated ${\gamma}-Al_{2}O_{3}$ had superior value as surface area of $215.5m^{2}/g$. Gas sensors were manufactured and tested to inflammable gases by using Pt coil as a heater and temperature sensing part, fine ${\gamma}-Al_{2}O_{3}$ powder as a bead material and Pt, Pd noble metal powder as a catalyst. From the results, fabricated sensor showed good sensitivity to LPG and LNG of 20mV/l000ppm, 6.5mV/l000ppm respectively.

Structural and thermal analysis of electrochemically Li intercalated synthetic graphite (전기 화학적으로 리튬이 층간 삽입된 인조흑연의 구조와 열적 특성 분석)

  • The characteristics of the electrochemically Li intercalated synthetic graphite were determined from the studies with XRD method, DSC and solid $^7Li-NMR$ spectrophotometric analysis. From the results of X-ray diffraction method, it was found that the compounds in the stage 1 structure were predominantly formed. The enthalpy and entropy changes of the compounds can be obtained from the differential scanning calorimetric analysis results. From these results, it was found that exothermic and endothermic reactions of lithium intercalated into synthetic graphite are related to thermal stability of lithium ion between carbon graphene layers. From the $^7Li-NMR$ data, scientific observation found that bands are shift toward higher frequencies with increasing lithium concentration because non-occupied electron shells of Li increased in charge carrier density. Line widths of the Li intercalated synthetic graphite compounds decreased slowly because of non-homogeneous local magnetic order and the random electron spin direction for substituted Li.

Evaluation on Characteristics and Economical Efficiency of X-L Pipe Boiler with Electric Heat Closed Type (전열밀폐식 X-L 파이프 보일러 난방장치의 특성 및 경제성 평가)

  • In these days, the gas or kerosene boiler was usually used as heating system. This study was carried out to investigate the merits of X-L pipe boiler with electric heat line that was specially manufactured. The electric heat line was inserted into inside of X-L pipe and voltage was impressed to electric heat line and, as a result, temperature of X-L pipe filled with heat medium was increased. As changing the number of electric heat line and voltage, the characteristics of X-L pipe boiler and its mechanism on heat generation were studied. Furthermore, the economical efficiency was evaluated by comparing heating cost of X-L pipe boiler with those of kerosene boiler and natural gas boiler, respectively. As the results, it was confirmed that heating cost of X-L pipe boiler was showed as 28% of kerosene boiler and 58% of natural gas boiler.
