Security Check Scheduling for Detecting Malicious Web Sites (악성사이트 검출을 위한 안전진단 스케줄링)

  • Current web has evolved to a mashed-up format according to the change of the implementation and usage patterns. Web services and user experiences have improved, however, security threats are also increased as the web contents that are not yet verified combine together. To mitigate the threats incurred as an adverse effect of the web development, we need to check security on the combined web contents. In this paper, we propose a scheduling method to detect malicious web pages not only inside but also outside through extended links for secure operation of a web site. The scheduling method considers several aspects of each page including connection popularity, suspiciousness, and check elapse time to make a decision on the order for security check on numerous web pages connected with links. We verified the effectiveness of the security check complying with the scheduling method that uses the priority given to each page.

Improved Solutions for Honorable Failure Policy on National R&D Projects (국가연구개발사업 성실실패제도 개선방안)

  • The importance of challenging and creative research recently has been increased, risk-taking on the R&D is being needed. The settlement of policy is urgently required in order to protect the result of high-risk research. 'Honorable Failure' is statutory by 'Regulation on the National R&D Program management' to resolve this issue, however its standards and detailed guides are not provided enough or the ministerial funding agencies apply different guidelines, making the researchers on the field confused by far. Therefore this paper reviews the current state of 'Honorable Failure Policy'(saving the 'failed' research despite of its adequate process or performance) and compares with the cases of major countries, then points out following issues; the uncertainty of the criterion, the difference of the main agent performing evaluation, admission of the failure, the utilization of the result of 'failed' research, the vagueness of the range of sanctions and restriction, and the lack of method of inspection and prevention for repetitive failure of the research projects. Finally, this paper proposes the solutions for these issues to improve.

  • When an unexpected software exception arises, we programmers are to analyze what causes it. Precisely speaking, we need to analyze the cause and property of the unexpected exception. But if exceptions arise irregularly from unknown causes, it is even more difficult for us to handle them, especially in embedded system like mobile phone software development. In this paper, we propose a debugger-friendly analyzing method for exceptions using aspect oriented programming technique. What we need to know upon arising exceptions is the function call history in order to identify the reason for the exceptions. Since programmers used to spend their debugging time on unidentified exceptions, which arise irregularly our method would greatly improve the embedded software development productivity.

  • Least squares (${\ell}^2-norm$) solutions of seismic inversion tend to be very sensitive to data points with large errors. The ${\ell}^p-norm$ minimization for $1{\le}p<2$ gives more robust solutions, but usually with higher computational cost. Iteratively reweighted least squares (IRLS) gives efficient approximate solutions of these ${\ell}^p-norm$ problems. I propose a simple way to implement the IRLS method for a hybrid ${\ell}^1/{\ell}^2$ minimization problem that behaves as ${\ell}^2$ fit for small residual and ${\ell}^1$ fit for large residuals. Synthetic and a field-data examples demonstrates the improvement of the hybrid method over least squares when there are outliers in the data.

  • 1980년대 북 핵개발을 처음 발견 이후, 미국은 북한의 비핵화라는 정책목적달성을 위해 다양한 정책을 사용해 왔지만 현재까지 실패하였다. 미국의 대북 정책 실패의 결과는 북핵 문제의 고착화 속에서, 평양의 핵무기 개발 가속화 야기로 한반도 및 미국을 핵위협 속에 놓이게 하였다. 특히, 지난 해, 북미간의 가열된 공격적 수사와 행동에 의한 한반도 위기설은 절정에 달하였다. 해결의 실마리가 보이지 않던 한반도의 갈등 및 위기는, 지난 4월에 열린 남북 정상회담을 통해 25년간의 핵위협의 굴레를 벗어날 기회를 다시 한번 맞이하게 되었다. 남북 정상회담 이후 이어질 북미 정상회담 등 향후 미국의 정책은 한반도 비핵화를 위한 중요한 분수령에 다시 한번 서있다. 하지만, 과거의 25년간의 역사는 다시 맞이한 '한반도의 봄'에 대한 낙관적 희망만을 주지 않는다. 과거, 양자적, 다자적 협상을 이룸에도 불구하고, 북핵 문제는 다시 위기에 접어드는 반복된 패턴과 사이클 속에 악화 되어 왔기 때문이다. 비핵화의 분수령에 있는 미 정부는 다시 한번 과거의 정책을 뒤돌아 보고, 남북 정상회담을 통해 어렵게 맞이한 기회를 결실로 이룰 수 있도록 어느 때 보다 신중한 노력이 필요하다. 최근 몇 달간 북핵 문제는 경이로운 속도로 진전을 보였지만, 한순간의 정책의 실패는 최근 보여진 진전의 속도 이상의 속도로 문제를 악화 시킬 수 있으며, 그 결과는 작년 여름과 겨울의 위기보다 더욱 심각 할 수 있음을 명심해야 한다. 이러한 점에서 이 보고서는 과거의 역사 및 이론적 분석을 통해 과거 미국의 북핵정책 실패 원인을 분석하고 정책을 제언하는데 그 목적이 있다. 과거 미 북핵 실패의 원인은 크게 3가지로 보인다. 먼저, 포괄적인 그리고 북한 정권의 특성에서 비롯된 북핵 개발의 모티브를 정확히 이해하는데 실패하여, 북한의 정책적 계산을 변화 시키는데 실패 하였다. 둘째, 북한 문제를 둘러싼 외부적 복잡성이 미북핵 정책실패를 야기하였다. 한반도 문제는 과거부터 다양한 국가들의 이해관계에 둘러 싸여 왔다. 북핵 문제도 남북 및 미국을 비롯 중국 등 주변국의 복잡성이 불확실성을 가중시켜 문제를 더욱 복잡하게 하였으며, 미국의 대북 협상의 영향력을 약화 시켰다. 셋째, 과거 누적된 두 국가간의 불신은 협상 이후 상대의 신뢰 있는 이행에 대한 불신을 야기하여 미국의 정책의 효과성을 저해하였다. 미국은 북핵 개발 모티브에 대한 포괄적 이해와 한국 및 중국과의 다자외교로 과거의 실패를 극복하고 25년간의 북핵문제의 고리를 끊어야 할 것이다.

Development of Electric Power Management System for Electric Furnace (전기로 전력관리 시스템 개발)

  • Demand Controller is a control device that if current electric power consumption seems to exceed the targeted amount of electric power, block the connected load devices. When this ON/OFF way is applied to electric power management of electric furnace, start and stop operation of inverter and an electric heater which supplying electric power is being performed repeatedly. This has a problem of life-shortening of inverter and an electric heater by electrical damage. In addition, when electric power supplying is blocked, attemperation is not allowed until return to normal operation condition. In this paper, we develop power management system for electric furnace using the electric furnace remote controller. This system provides the automatic control for approved electric power to electric furnace organically and prevent electric damage of inverter and an electric heater through continuous electric power supply within the targeted amount of electric power.

Object Tracking Algorithm Using Weighted Color Centroids Shifting (가중 컬러 중심 이동을 이용한 물체 추적 알고리즘)

  • Recently, mean shift tracking algorithms have been proposed which use the information of color histogram together with some spatial information provided by the kernel. In spite of their fast speed, the algorithms are suffer from an inherent instability problem which is due to the use of an isotropic kernel for spatiality and the use of the Bhattacharyya coefficient as a similarity function. In this paper, we analyze how the kernel and the Bhattacharyya coefficient can arouse the instability problem. Based on the analysis, we propose a novel tracking scheme that uses a new representation of the location of the target which is constrained by the color, the area, and the spatiality information of the target in a more stable way than the mean shift algorithm. With this representation, the target localization in the next frame can be achieved by one step computation, which makes the tracking stable, even in difficult situations such as low-rate-frame environment, and partial occlusion.

Non-Intrusive Speech Quality Estimation of G.729 Codec using a Packet Loss Effect Model (G.729 코덱의 패킷 손실 영향 모델을 이용한 비 침입적 음질 예측 기법)

  • This paper proposes a non-intrusive speech quality estimation method considering the effects of packet loss to perceptual quality. Packet loss is a major reason of quality degradation in a packet based speech communications network, whose effects are different according to the input speech characteristics or the performance of the embedded packet loss concealment (PLC) algorithm. For the quality estimation system that involves packet loss effects, we first observe the packet loss of G.729 codec which is one of narrowband codec in VoIP system. In order to quantify the lost packet affects, we design a classification algorithm only using speech parameters of G.729 decoder. Then, the degradation values of each class are iteratively selected that maximizes the correlation with the degradation PESQ-LQ scores, and total quality degradation is modeled by the weighted sum. From analyzing the correlation measures, we obtained correlation values of 0.8950 for the intrusive model and 0.8911 for the non-intrusive method.

In this paper, the true bispectrum is defined as the expectation of the sample bispectrum, which IS the Fourier representation of the triple correlation given one realization The characteristics of the sample bispectrum are analyzed and a way to obtain an estimate of the true bispectrum without stochastic expectation, using the generalized theory of weighted regularization is shown. The bispectrum estimated by the proposed algorithm is experimentally demonstrated to be useful for signal recovery under blurred noisy condition.

Iteratively reweighted least squares (IRLS) method gives efficient approximate solutions of these $l^1$ norm problems. I propose an efficient implementation of the IRLS method for a hybrid $l^1/l^2$ minimization problem that behaves as $l^2$ norm fit for small residual and $l^1$ norm fit for large residuals. The proposed algorithm shows more robust characteristics to the decision of the threshold value than the l1 norm IRLS inversion does with respect to the threshold value to avoid singularity.
