  • This study attempted to analyze technology convergence structure and key technology research sectors in bio-health. For this, network analysis was performed based on the patent outcomes achieved through national R&Ds. Then, a patent network was analyzed to derive problems and collect data from the National Science & Technology Information Service. With the five groups obtained through the analysis of IPC network and national R&D patents in bio-health based on a research frame network, topics were chosen based on the bio-healthcare technology system. Then, the technology with the greatest ripple effects was derived and compared to other sectors, suggesting a direction for national R&D investments. It is anticipated that this study would make a contribution to a search for R&D investment direction by additionally analyzing overseas patent data and improving correlation analysis between technology convergence and government-led R&D expenses.

  • The digital bio-healthcare industry is one of the three major fostering industries of the Korean Moon Jae-In government. The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the ripple effect and investment effect in digital bio-healthcare industry. Analyzing the ripple effects of the digital bio-healthcare industry is very important to induce policies on industry and technology development. First, the research methods were reclassified into 33 industries in the standard industry classification and rewritten into 35 industry classification tables. Second, various trigger coefficients and ripple effects coefficients were rewritten by the analysis framework of the industrial association table. Third, we compared the ripple effects of related industries in the production, investment, value-added and jobs sectors of the digital bio-healthcare industry. Finally, in terms of investment effects, the effects of in-house and related industries were compared. The result of this study would be helpful in the establishment of industrial policy and technology development policy.

  • Korean pharmaceutical and bio-health companies began applying for FDA approval in 2000. However, drug companies in South Korea are not required to obtain FDA approval to market their products on the South Korean market, and the approval process is highly resource-intensive. This study utilizes event study methodology to examine the information effect of US FDA approval announcements on the stock prices of pharmaceutical and bio-health companies listed on South Korean stock markets. The study's results show that FDA approval announcements caused abnormal increases in corporate stock prices, indicating that these announcements have a transnational information effect on South Korean companies' value. Furthermore, the results show that the impact of FDA approval announcements on stock prices is greater for small companies than mid-sized and large companies and in bio and healthcare industries than in the traditional pharmaceutical industry. This impact is also more significant on the KOSDAQ (Korea Securities Dealers Automated Quotation) companies than the KOSPI (Korean Composite Stock Price Index) companies and after the expansion of stock price limits. These findings signal that the information effect is more significant when regulatory controls are weaker. The results also indicate that obtaining FDA approval brings above-normal returns for companies and that FDA application is a high-risk, high-return investment.

  • A novel diagnosis scheme PCADP(personalized computer aided diagnosis probability) is proposed to overcome the problems mentioned above. PCADP scheme is a personalized diagnosis method based on ontology and it makes the bio-data analysis just a 'process' in the Smart healthcare service system. In addition, we offer a semantics modeling of the smart healthcare ontology framework in order to describe smart healthcare data and service specifications as meaningful representations based on this PCADP. The PCADP scheme is a kind of statistical diagnosis method which has real-time processing, characteristics of flexible structure, easy monitoring of decision process, and continuous improvement.

  • The purpose of this study is to establish the direction of industrial policy by comparing the employment inducement effect on the related industries of the digital bio-healthcare industry. The analysis data used the three-year input-output table measured by the Bank of Korea. First, the research method was rewritten into 7 major industries to compare statistical data by period. Second, the Bank of Korea's industry-related analysis methodology was utilized. Third, the weight was reflected and compared by employment, production, and investment sectors of the digital bio-healthcare industry. As a result of the analysis, first, the employment sector had a higher effect than the average of the entire industry, second, the production sector was low, and third, the investment sector required investment in the service sector. The conclusions drawn from the analysis showed that direct investment and continuous investment are required in the employment sector, the development of professional manpower is urgent, and direct investment and long-term investment are effective in the production sector.

  • This study sought to identify the effects of entrepreneurship orientation and self efficacy on entrepreneurial intentions among workers in the bio-healthcare industry in Korea. As interest in health increases in the age of aging, the bio-healthcare industry is attracting a lot of attention for start-ups as an industry that can create high added value, but there are also aspects that take a relatively long time to develop technology, require a lot of money, and have a relatively high probability of failure. In this study, we measured the level of entrepreneurship orientation and self efficacy of bio-healthcare industry workers and identified the degree of influence on entrepreneurial intentions. Studies have shown that innovativeness, progressiveness, and risk-taking among entrepreneurship orientations all have a significant impact on entrepreneurial intention. In addition, self efficacy has been shown to have a mediating effect on the relationship between innovativeness, progressiveness, risk-taking and entrepreneurial intention.
