Daily life such as society, economy, and culture is fundamentally changing due to COVID-19, and digital transformation based on information technology (IT) such as artificial intelligence, data, and cloud is accelerating. In this study, we focused on the metaverse, which is based on the interaction between the virtual world and the real world, and explored the possibility of using the metaverse-based platform for education. The metaverse-based platform was approached from the perspective of the online education ecosystem, which means that not only online teaching and learning activities but also holistic educational activities such as learning, communication, and empathy are performed within the metaverse. In this metaverse platform, learners can feel the presence of learning, and learning motivation and immersion can be promoted. In addition, it is possible to experience self-directed learning based on the autonomy of spatial movement. Although there are technical and ethical limitations to applying the metaverse platform, it would be preferable to focus more on the interaction between learners in the metaverse world rather than high expectations.
This paper is presents an intelligent control system that visualizes the direction of arrival for hearing impaired using personal mobility, and aims to recognize and prevent dangerous situations caused by sound such as alarm sounds and crack sounds on roads. The position estimation method of sound source uses a machine learning classification model characterized by generalized correlated phase transformation based on time difference of arrival. In the experimental environment reproducing the road situations, four classification models learned after extracting learning data according to wind speeds 0km/h, 5.8km/h, 14.2km/h, and 26.4km/h were compared with grid search cross validation, and the Muti-Layer Perceptron(MLP) model with the best performance was applied as the optimal algorithm. When wind occurred, the proposed algorithm showed an average performance improvement of 7.6-11.5% compared to the previous studies.

Clinical nomogram is a graphical representation of numeric formula, constructed from clinical cases database of followed patients' treatment, which is used for medical predication. For a clinical nomogram to contribute patient care, it is required to accumulate as many as clinical cases and to extract medical prediction knowledge. It needs to be equipped with an effective method to build medical nomogram with high predication accuracy. It is desirable for medical nomogram to be accessible at patient care point. This paper proposes a medical nomogram service system architecture which takes into account the above-mentioned issues. The proposed system architecture includes a web-based database subsystem to maintain and keep track of clinical cases. On the periodic basis, a new clinical nomogram is reconstructed for the updated clinical database. For the convenient use of patient care practice environment, an app-based program is provided which makes prediction based on the most recent clinical nomogram constructed in the service system. The proposed method has been applied to a clinical nomogram service system development for recurrence and survival prediction in bladder cancer patients.
This paper is designed to report the results of development and validation procedures in relation to the Freeway Incident Management System (FIMS) prototype development as part of Intelligent Transportation Systems Research and Development program. The central core of the FIMS is an integration of the component parts and the modular, but the integrated system for freeway management. The whole approach has been component-orientated, with a secondary emphasis being placed on the traffic characteristics at the sites. The first action taken during the development process was the selection of the required data for each components within the existing infrastructure of Korean freeway system. After through review and analysis of vehicle detection data, the pilot site led to the utilization of different technologies in relation to the specific needs and character of the implementation. This meant that the existing system was tested in a different configuration at different sections of freeway, thereby increasing the validity and scope of the overall findings. The incident detection module has been performed according to predefined system validation specifications. The system validation specifications have identified two component data collection and analysis patterns which were outlined in the validation specifications; the on-line and off-line testing procedural frameworks. The off-line testing was achieved using asynchronous analysis, commonly in conjunction with simulation of device input data to take full advantage of the opportunity to test and calibrate the incident detection algorithms focused on APID, DES, DELOS and McMaster. The simulation was done with the use of synchronous analysis, thereby providing a means for testing the incident detection module.

Urban flooding threatens human beings and facilities with chemical and physical hazards since the beginning of human civilization. Recent studies have emphasized the integration of data and models for effective urban flood inundation modeling. However, the model set-up process is tend to be time consuming and to require a high level of data processing skill. Furthermore, in spite of the use of high resolution grid data, inundation depth and velocity are varied with building treatment methods in 2-D inundation model, because undesirable grids are generated and resulted in the reliability decline of the simulation results. Thus, it requires building generalization process or enhancing building orthogonality to minimize the distortion of building before converting building footprint into grid data. This study aims to develop building generalization method for 2-dimensional inundation analysis to enhance the model reliability, and to investigate the effect of building generalization method on urban inundation in terms of geographical engineering and hydraulic engineering. As a result to improve the reliability of 2-dimensional inundation analysis, the building generalization method developed in this study should be adapted using Digital Building Model(DBM) before model implementation in urban area. The proposed building generalization sequence was aggregation-simplification, and the threshold of the each method should be determined by considering spatial characteristics, which should not exceed the summation of building gap average and standard deviation.

The paper describes a case study in which Sungkyunkwan University Library participated in the official ARL(Assoication of Research Libraries) LibQUAL+ evaluation program. LibQUAL+ model is based on the SERVQUAL service quality evaluation model originally developed in the marketing area. It details a number of processes including translation of the LibQUAL+ survey instrument into Korean, selection of study sample and choice of survey versions. In addition, it offers a number of strategies that can be adopted in order to analyze the survey data for various comparisons among different user groups and institutions. LibQUAL+ is more that a survey instrument; it a holistic system for assessing library service quality. Despite criticisms on LibQUAL+, we expect that university libraries in Korean will benefit from participating in the program. It is preferable that a group of libraries form a consortium to participate in the LibQUAL+ program as opposed to individual participation. The consortium can function as a learning community through various workshops and sharing activities, thus elevate the overall evaluation efforts in Korean libraries to a higher level.

Data transfer rate and storage capacity are main criteria of the performance of the optical disk drive. The highest data transfer rate and the largest storage capacity is most desirable. To increase these performances, the actuator of the optical disk drive should have a high servo bandwidth to compensate the vibration of an optical disk. The servo bandwidth is limited by some flexible modes of the actuator, thus it is essential to increase the natural frequencies of the flexible modes. In this paper, we suggested a moving magnet type actuator having high frequencies of the flexible modes. Generally, the moving magnet type actuator has an advantage to increase the natural frequencies of the flexible modes because the moving magnet type actuator has simple structure and the Young's modulus of magnet is high. However, large moving mass and inefficiency of EM(electromagnetic) circuit cut down driving sensitivities of the actuator. To improve driving sensitivities, we designed the model with the closed electromagnetic circuit for tracking direction. In addition, driving sensitivities and the natural frequencies of the flexible modes were improved by using DOE(design of experiments) for electromagnetic circuit and modifying the lens holder.
Recently, ICT environments have been increasingly developed and the pattern of the war also has been changed to NCW. The development of communication and network technology, for example, C4I and TDL(Tactical Data Link), has been prosperous and rapid. But the geospatial intelligence field which is the basis of the network frames relatively has not been developed. The purpose of this paper is to foster the geospatial governance in terms of the defense perspective. In order to do that, this paper deals with the U.S. Intelligence Community(IC) and the U.S. Army Global Information Grid(GIG), LandWarNet and those could be good examples of roles and statuses of geospatial intelligence. IC has been produced essential intelligence which is required for policymakers and military leaders. IC has several stove-piped intelligence process systems which have been separately developed and competed. And so as to complete GIG, the U.S. Army adopted LandWarNet. The U.S. Corps of Engineers organized the Army Geospatial Center(AGC) on 1 October 2009 to support LandWarNet. In order to develop NCW, we should recognize geospatial intelligence as the basis of network framework and make a central leading organization of defense geospatial intelligence. The mission of Korea Defense Geospatial-Intelligence Agency should be changed from producing GEOINT to a strategic GEOINT agency. The Army should organize a laboratory of geospatial intelligence field. The mission of producing GEOINT should be transferred to a geospatial intelligence battalion which is newly organized.
This paper analyzes the performance of symbol timing recovery and equalizer in 8VSB digital terrestrial TV receiver under various multipath signals and proposes equalization techniques which improve indoor reception performance. Data segment sync is used for symbol timing recovery and timing offset is measured for echoes of various delays and amplitudes by using symbol timing detection filter whose pattern is +1. +1. -1. and -1. Measured timing offsets were below 10% for long echoes with more than 5 symbol delay and above 30% for short echoes with around 1 symbol delay. Indoor reception is always more challenging than outdoor reception due to lower signal strength. large and short multipaths. and moving interfering objects. So it is considered to use FSE (Fractionally Spaced Equalizer) which is very robust to timing offset and blind equalizer which can update equalizer tap coefficients even by information data. We compare the performance of conventional DFE (Decision Feedback Equalizer) and FSE-DFE using LMS algorithm and Stop and Go algorithm for the indoor reception. Experiments reveals FSE has excellent performance for large timing offset and Stop and Go algorithm shows good performance for Doppler shift. so we propose to use FSE-DFE structure with Stop and Go algorithm for the reliable indoor reception.

Large vessels are currently operating by using an ECDIS, a system enabling automatic navigation and checking marine conditions. In the past, the ECDIS was used for vessels but in these days, it has been used as a method for collecting and verifying marine information, etc. from land by using a computer, instead of taking a boat out. The ECDIS on sale is generally used by companies which operate marine workers. However, this system has caused inconvenience to marine workers, in terms of tasks, services, or operations. Marine workers move out to the sea after checking the status of the system at the office. Due to the weather such as waves and winds, marine devices are not often found on the relevant coordinates. In such a case, the workers onerously need to come back to the land and track the marine devices again. In order to solve such a problem, this thesis purposes to develop a system which can check the locations of marine devices and verify a marine chart even on the sea by using a mobile. The proposed system can integrate and support a variety of protocols of relevant devices in the system itself and check data via mobile through the data transmission and streaming functions.
