  • The demand for specialized human resources capable of bringing about highly advanced logistics systems and the integration of logistics centers situated in local hubs, has been on the rise. Logistics industry requires more of a systematic mind set, endless innovation, and the navigation of uncharted waters than the logistics industry. This study lays out the reasons for the importance of developing human resources in the logistics industry, and then carries out an evaluation of the current state of human resources development in that particular field in Korea. This study found that there is not only a shortage in terms of the courses needed to develop the skills required to carry out the core activities associated with the logistics sector, but also that students' ability to speak English and Chinese, which are ubiquitous in the international logistics industry, was also wanting. There is a need for the study of logistics at the university level to be based on practical applications rather than theoretical ones.

  • This study assesses Incheon Metropolitan City's potential as a global logistics hub amid intensified competition since the 2000s. Utilizing Importance-Performance Analysis(IPA), it evaluates competitive factors for logistics hub cities and Incheon's current positioning. The research identifies world-class infrastructure development and global city connectivity as key competitiveness factors. While Incheon, with its international airport and port, currently functions as a logistics hub, areas for improvement emerge. Recommendations include developing specialized cargo infrastructure for cold-chain and e-commerce, expanding the global network through multimodal transportation, and addressing gaps in smart and eco-friendly logistics. These suggestions encompass professional training, information platform establishment, and sector-wide decarbonization initiatives. The study's significance lies in its IPA-driven evaluation of competitiveness factors and Incheon's status, providing actionable recommendations for strategic planning to enhance the city's position as a global logistics hub.

  • The ship management industry in South Korea has been growing steadily, leading the government to implement policies to support its development in response to changing environmental conditions. These policies aim to improve the competitiveness of South Korea's ship management industry by recognizing the importance of skilled professionals in determining its success. Plans and policies have been put in place to cultivate these professionals, but ship management companies are currently facing a serious shortage of manpower. To enhance the industry's competitiveness, it is essential to attract and retain competent ship management professionals. Therefore, this study investigates the reasons for turnover among these professionals. The research results identified four factors contributing to turnover: Work Environment, Economic Compensation and Welfare Benefits, Self-Development, and Promotion and Career Advancement. Subsequent multiple regression analysis based on these factors revealed the need to strengthen economic rewards and benefits in order to reduce turnover rates among ship management professionals. This study provides foundational data for the development of stable human resource management policies for the future of the ship management industry.

  • There are more problems in distributing agricultural and special products than industrial products because they have such restrictions as seasonal fluctuation in the quantity, indeterminate and diverse shapes, many farm households, a small amount of shipment, and mandatory guide and maintenance. However, with social atmosphere called well-being, there are increasing concerns about inorganic agricultural products and direct trade with farmers. It is therefore urgent to stabilize the price of agricultural and special products and to correctly grasp and improve logistics activities for those dealing with agricultural and special products in order to supply fresh ones. This study aimed at examining logistics activities and the information technology level for agricultural and special products, determining how these factors affect logistics performance, and eventually suggesting a scheme to improve the logistics achievements for agricultural and special products. For this purpose, it selected information technology and logistics activity levels as independent variables and logistics performance as a dependent variable. The information technology level was measured for utility, holding level, and concern, respectively, and the logistics activity level was tested for the level of using the logistics information system in those companies concerned. From the above-mentioned findings, it is urgent to enhance distribution technology and its level immediately since distribution of agricultural and special products is poor in Korea and good distribution can contribute to a reduction of logistics costs or improvement of customer service.
