The meaning of "added value" refers to the contribution of the factors of production, i.e., land, labor, and capital goods, to raising the value of a product and corresponds to the incomes received by the owners of these factors. The importance of added value in service industry has been recognized as one of the critical factors to economic growth, even in logistics industry. But, it is hard to find out the previous studies providing a clear definition and framework for designing and analyzing the performance of Value Added Logistics(VAL). The purpose of this study is to define the meaning of extended VAL that extensively includes activities initiating and operating the reverse logistics under the closed-loop logistic scheme, and to suggest the framework that describes the partnerships among participants involving in operating the value added logistics. Also, in this paper, we emphasize on the need for investigation of added value logistics definition and framework based on previous academic studies, and examine various value added logistics service activities of current leading 3PL companies across the world. Finally, we suggest the analytic framework for value added logistics throughout closed-loop logistics.
Since the outsourcing logistics business has been an emerging opportunities for many new service providers entering into such an ever-changing technology, knowledge and logistics market, it has resulted into a price-sensitive and high competition industry. In order to sharpen the global competitive power of the information-contents business in this severe environment, this research is engaged in meeting the following purposes: 1. well position the outsourcing logistics services in the logistics business industry 2. articulate the business model to compete in the outsourcing logistics services market, Information-contents industry. 3. propose a competitive strategy for a outsourcing logistics services provider to grow the information-contents business. This research report could also serve as a framework for the other logistics and the outsourcing services companies to plan out their competitive strategies of information-contents industry. For new comers to join the same market, it will be also helpful in positioning their services and making business decisions in a holistic view.
정보기술의 급격한 발전에 따라 21세기의 물류기업은 조직경영에 필수적인 협업화, 유비쿼터스화, 지능화를 특정으로 하는 실시간 물류 역량을 요구하고 있으며, 우편사업의 경우도 예외가 될 수 없다. 본 논문은 우편 정보화 시스템의 실시간 통합성 및 고도화를 실현하기 위한 우편 정보화 전략 계획을 수립한다. 먼저 국내외 우편사업 환경 및 현황을 살펴보고, 핵심현안을 도출한 후 차세대 우편 정보화 목표시스템의 구축방향 및 기본 모형을 제안한다. 본 연구에 제시된 구축방향 및 모형을 토대로 우편 정보화 정책들이 수립되어 지속적으로 추진된다면 우편사업의 생산성 향상과 국제적 경쟁력 제고에 크게 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
The purpose of this study was to extract and evaluate the factors to improve the quality of shipping logistics platform suggested as an alternative to the stagnant shipping logistics industry. For this, we selected factors through previous research and expert interviews, and conducted surveys on carriers, forwarders, shippers, and platform operators with experience using shipping logistics platforms. As a method of analysis, quality evaluation of the shipping logistics platform was conducted using IPA (Importance-Performance Analysis). The results of this study are as follows "Competitiveness of services provided", "Connectivity with other transportation mode", "Competitiveness of freight", "Transparency of freight", and "Stability of booking space". For the shipping logistics platform to be activated in the future, priority should be given to focusing on these factors. This study has academic significance for establishing configuration function of shipping logistics platform and deriving evaluation factor. Additionally it is an industrial significance for suggesting strategies to improve users' participation in the shipping logistics platform.
Global competition has resulted in companies' expectations to heighten competitiveness and enhance customer service through ownership companies' reduced investment on logistics costs, in turn focusing on the development of core competence, in addition to logistics companies' increased tendencies to satisfy customers' needs and requirements through logistics outsourcing. However, a partial perspective of the logistics contract exists due to its flexible characteristic in order to act accordingly in times of sudden changes and uncertainty. Therefore, this study is designed to test through a survey the standard of desired format of logistics contract in comparison to the currently existing format based on the results of researcher's previous study on the specific clauses in the logistics contract and its effect on the logistics outcome. A hypothesis has been designed to test the differences of perspective between two test groups, and a t-test &IPA (Importance-Performance Analysis) was performed. As a result, firstly, there was a significant difference of perspective between the ownership companies and logistics companies when dealing with the logistics contract; secondly, a significant difference of perspective was also expressed between the two groups on how to guide and re-direct the present standard of logistics contract. In addition, the two groups also showed a difference of expectations between the current and future service standard. Therefore, this study is designed to specify the difference of perspective and expectations between the ownership companies and the logistics companies in order to provide a gateway for the two groups in order to further develop and enhance the field of logistics.

As the awareness of the importance of Start-up increases, the number of entrepreneurs who decide to start their career is gradually increasing. However, the rate of start-up failure is still high and the qualitative level is very low due to lack of start-up performance. In this study, we analyzed the effect of entrepreneurship capability and start-up support system on start-up performance. To that end, 361 valid data were collected from businesses that were established less than seven years ago in Jeollabuk-do on August 1, 2018 and used for study verification through SPSS 21 and AMOS 21. First, the entrepreneurial competence (entrepreneurial competence, managerial competency) has a positive effect on the start-up support system and the technical competency has no significant effect. Second, entrepreneurial competence (entrepreneurial competence, managerial competency, technical competency) has a significant effect on entrepreneurial performance. However, entrepreneurial competence has a meaningful effect on the start-up performance of entrepreneurs with a negative (-) effect. Third, it was found that the start - up support system had a positive effect on the start - up performance. Finally, the start - up support system proved to have mediating effect between entrepreneurial competence and start - up performance. The implications of this study are as follows. In order to increase the start-up performance of the start-up companies, it is proved that increasing the capacity of the start-ups is an important factor. In addition, empirical studies have proved that the use of start-up support system is an important factor that directly or indirectly has a significant effect on start-up performance, We have made meaningful implications that actively supporting and utilizing entrepreneurship is necessary to enhance start-up performance.
Today, Manufacturing companies execute the logistics outsourcing that commits the non-core logistic function to the specialized logistics corporation, which makes the manufacturing company focus on its core competence, product development and marketing, reduces logistics cost and improves customer service level. Recently, Logistics outsourcing is developed into cooperative sourcing based on the partnership. Case study on the logistics outsourcing will provide the good guideline for planning of the outsourcing strategy. The objective of this research is making a sense about 4PL through the case of UPS-Samsung Electro-Mechanics and catching major issue to provide the guideline for the cooperation outsourcing strategy. We investigated historical backgrounds of the logistics outsourcing between UPS and Samsung Electro-Mechanics. We also investigated problems occurred in outsourcing process at the five dimensions-organizational problem, CEO's short-term views, cultural gap between two companies, integration of IT system, and different understanding about outcomes. We expect to give many implications to manufacturing companies which want to cooperate with specialized logistics corporation.
As UAE has witnessed tremendous growth and diversification in its economy, logistics in particular has had great success as one of the first logistics clusters and hub to develop global business competitiveness but a few data and practical study related with logistics business competitiveness have existed due to lack of the openness in the region. In this sense, the purpose of this study was to carry out competitive analysis between UAE and not only major Middle East countries and but also Global countries using Porter's Diamond model. As a result of analysis with Middle East Countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE gained the highest score in factor conditions followed by logistics conditions, supported industries and demand conditions. UAE also is required to reduce cost and time of logistics process and get higher ease of international shipment, logistics competency and logistics timeliness. The logistics data set released from international and reputable bodies like WEF, OECD and IMD will assist to analyses logistics competitiveness among hub countries in future studies.
Modern enterprises should concentrate their efforts on continuous improvements in focusing their development in the core areas of business and to reduce their expenses and to enhance the quality of service for customers. The enterprises should focus on their core business while outsourcing the non-core areas of business to external specialists for the purpose of reducing cost. In South Korea, the enterprises are becoming increasingly interested in outsourcing their logistics function, especially in using IT technologies to the 3PL. The underlying reason for this trend is because the logistics costs of Korean businesses are much higher than that of other advanced countries. This higher logistic costs weakens the price competitiveness of Korean companies in the overseas export markets and even dampening the balance of international trade. Domestically, the higher logistics costs have the effect of raising prices in the local markets and thus affecting the local economy. Therefore a solution is urgently needed to save the logistics costs for the Korean companies in the interest of increasing national competitiveness. Outsourcing to the 3PL is becoming an attraction solution to this problem. Thanks to the increasing supply of professional logistics companies, many of the enterprises are switching to the Third Party Logistics. Nevertheless the enterprises do not yet utilize the integrated third-party logistics services on a full scale. This study analyzes present conditions and problems of the domestic third-party logistics market and suggests directions for future development. To solve the problems in the domestic third-party logistics market, four actions are recommended. First there should be new supporting policies in the laws and regulations and a system for small and medium sized companies to grow. Solutions to structural problems such as abnormal multilevel merchandising, illegal operation of private cars, and freight dumping should be implemented concurrently. Furthermore, standards for new companies entry into the market should be enhanced to allow only the competitive distribution companies to enter the market. Second, development of variety of educational programs is needed through establishing human-resource development system and specialized formal educational institution focused on this market. Third, the third party distribution companies, which seek long-term relationships with the owners of goods, should endeavor to strengthen their communications capability. Fourth, adoption of high-tech distribution system and the advent of U-Logistics, making use of RFID is urgent. This study has the limitation of objectivity because it does not include various comparative case studies about companies relating to the Third Party Logistics and domestic franchise companies. However, this study is significant to the extent that it analyzes the general present conditions and the problems of domestic Third Party Logistics and suggests recommendations for revitalization of Third Party Logistics. For future studies, analyzing the successful cases of international third party logistics companies' empirical data and studying the application into domestic franchise companies would improve the objectivity of the results. This would assist the domestic third party logistics companies not only to perform excellent domestic logistics function but also to enter into the global market for international logistics.
The change in the management environment of the logistics industry in the era of global competition is becoming an era in which customers choose companies. Differentiation from competitors through the provision of products and services suitable for customers As customers' choices change depending on their superiority, companies are constantly striving to receive or retain customers' choices. Ultimately, this competitive structure can be seen as the importance of long-term relationship building. Therefore, in this study, we examined how factors related to transaction characteristics performed by logistics companies for customer satisfaction in the transaction relationship between cargo companies and shippers affect performance and long-term transaction intentions. First, we derived the factors of logistics service, cost, logistics infrastructure, and company competency, which are transaction characteristics factors of a logistics company that must be specifically realized for customer satisfaction in transactions between logistics companies. Second, we analyzed how the transaction characteristics factors of a logistics company affect the company's performance, and finally, how the company's performance factors affect long-term transaction intentions. As a result of empirical analysis, there were no statistically significant results on the relationship between transaction characteristics and performance of logistics companies, which can be attributed to the small size of the logistics companies that were the sample. In other words, logistics companies that do not have sufficient capacity to provide services at low prices have no choice but to engage in constant bleeding competition. It can be seen that it reflects the characteristics of the industry. On the other hand, the relationship between corporate performance factors and long-term transaction intention was found to have a positive relationship. The higher the level of partnership with logistics companies and visible financial performance is, the higher the transaction will be in the future, and the more the transaction volume will be gradually increased. And even if it costs a little more, it can be seen that the intention to continue trading is greatly expressed.
