  • The prime objective of this study is to analyze tourist's behaviors and satisfaction of the Gwangneung area and get a reading on the tourist's socio-economic traits and the propensity of activities. In addition, it highlights surveys of the tourist's consciousness of cultural, ecological and environmental tourism resources available in the Gwangneung area and the possibility for sustainable development and ways to make the most of these resources. This study found that even though Gwangneung is mostly a place for one day family outings. the tourist's demand for actually unreachable ecological resources is high while existing cultural tourism resources have less than the expected drawing power. It was also found that tourists recognize the need for preservation of the tourism resources of Gwangneung and its potential for further sustainable development. In particular, most tourists to Gwangneung are relatively satisfied with the status of preservation of its cultural and ecological resources and environment On the other hand, accessibility, tourism facilities, and management are estimated at less than desired. Gwangneung would benefit by making efforts for the positive use of its tourism resources and improvement of convenience facilities, management and operation.

  • This paper aims to explore the geographic characteristics of ecotour resources in Gumho-river basin and to study the educational application of ecotour resources. To grasp the characteristics of ecotour resources in Gurnho-basin, this research carried out a literature review about Gumho-river basin and arranged ecotour resources by different types. Ecotour resources are divided into geomorphic and geologic resources, plant communities, wildlife habitats, cultural and historical resources, regional events with eco-resources. The case studies of New Zealand present good examples of how to successfully use the ecotour goals as a educational applications to Korea. The ecotourism in Korea has not still achieved the real benefits which meet environmental conservation, regional economic advantages and educational effects. Thus, the ecotour programmes should be include entrance limitations, strict opening time schedules, natural trails, museums for study, boards for study, well trained information officers and guides organized by residents. • As the tourists of ecotourism are increasing, the supply for detailed information on tourist attraction is also significantly increasing. As a result of survey given to tourists, it showed that they are more interested in natural ecological resources rather than history or culture among resources of ecotourism and pointed out that more information on the region needs to be supplemented. In order to provide accurate, detailed and standardized information to tourists, ecotourism resources were categorized as experience type from the position of consumer and ecological resource type. And the category of experience is again divided into 4 types - nature, education, communication and adventure. Moreover, after developing the web-based homepage for it, the research proposed the cases of Tae-an area and Ulleungdo Island. If the problems from test operation are supplemented, it is expected to suggest the standard of mobile based digital storytelling technology in the field of ecotourism.

  • This study aims to calculate reasonable carving capacity of the Gwangneung area and to review its tourism policies from the perspective of the tourist's demands. According to the analysis results, The socio-psychological carrying capacity by targeted intervals of time is generally underestimated and less than desired. Parking lots followed by stores and then roads are the biggest issues weighing down the area's carving capacity Also, another finding shows that the physical carrying capacity, analyzed based on area use, is estimated for 600 tourists and 130 cars. This study recommends following that Gwangneung establish various tour programs linking its cultural and historical sites to forest and ecological resources. Further to this, Gwangneung might be better off exerting efforts to developing environmental education programs and training more cultural and ecological guides. The findings necessitate that should be made off limits to cars, and instead servicing the area with shuttle buses. Management offices can also be classrooms used for cultural, historical and ecological education and exhibitions. Other findings suggest an expansion of convenience facilities such as more potable water stations, benches, resting areas and a continued monitoring of tourism activities in the area.

  • Ecotourism is widely known to be a sort of alternative tourism which seeks to keep balance between conservation and development. Successful ecotourism is not just dependent upon natural/cultural resources but also the consensus-building and collaboration among actors involved in the development of ecotourist attractions. In this sense, the establishment of good local governance can be crucial to achieve both conservation and development which are incompatible one another. Governance is carried out through self-organising, inter-organisational networks, which is emerging as new forms of collective decision-making at local level. Governance leads to the development of different relationships, not simply between public/ nonpublic agencies but between citizens and public/nonpublic agencies. I represent some key dimensions to construct good local governance in ecotourism: i) the creation of socio-institutional milieu that facilitate interactions among actors related to ecotourism; ii) actors involved in ecotourism taking responsibility to play an appropriate role in their own position. I argue that interactive relationships and consensus-building between different actors can be promoted by collective actions such as the sharing of information and resources, co-education and co-training, and seminars. It therefore implies that local good governance cannot be established without local social capital based on trust and cooperation between actors.

  • This study is a basic study to evaluate the ecological environment of Changwon City. The study site was 6 ecotourism districts in Changwon-si, and the ecotourism index was evaluated through direct visits and interviews with the person in charge through preliminary research and various literature data from June to July 2021. There are six ecotourism indicators: climate crisis, air quality improvement, water conservation, natural coexistence, citizen participation, and tourism resource management. When looking at the scores for the six ecotourism areas in Changwon, it received the highest score in the areas of natural coexistence and air quality improvement. However, the ecoregion received the lowest score in the water resource conservation category, indicating that the water resource conservation as a whole was weak. Next, tourism resource management, climate crisis, and citizen participation are at the same level in all regions. As a result of the evaluation through the low-carbon ecotourism index, the Changwon City low-carbon ecotourism certification system should first be operated as a measure to revitalize the ecotourism region. It is necessary to prepare a low-carbon ecotourism level for Changwon City. Second, it is very important to guide and promote ecotourism areas to revitalize ecotourism areas. Lastly, to operate a sustainable eco-environment area, it is necessary to operate using local governance above all else.
