Analysis of The Chinese Information Technology Curriculum (중국의 정보기술 교육과정 분석)

  • Design of a new information technology curriculum is very difficult work. It has relatively short history of operation. It advances very fast. Furthermore, people have very different understandings between information application and information knowledge. Therefore making decision for information technology contents is very difficult work. So we try to get effectiveness of the curriculum design through the comparison with other countries' cases. In this paper we tried to search and analyze about the historical trends, current states, and characteristics of Chinese information technology curriculum. China has strong focus on information technology education while she makes great success in economic development. We also suggested some good points of Chinese information technology curriculum which can be adapted to the design of a new Korean computer curriculum. The China's information technology curriculum is summarized by four categories. They are (1) educations on the basic knowledges and functions of the stable level of information technology, (2) educations on the information technology applications for the problem solving, (3) educations for the individualized learning through the research and project implementations in depth, and (4) systematic arrangements and integrated operations of the information technology curriculum.

Development of mathematical learning materials through geometric problems and the invention of pentominoes (기하학적 문제와 펜토미노의 발명을 통한 수학 학습에서의 자료 개발)

  • Recently, dissection puzzles such as pentominoes have been used in mathematics education. But they are not actively applicable as a tool of problem solving or introducing mathematical concepts since researches about the historical background and developments of mathematical applications of such puzzles have not been effectively accomplished. In this article, in order to use pentominoes in mathematical teaming effectively, we first investigate geometric problems related to dissection puzzles and the historic background of development of pentominoes. And then we collect and classify data related to pentomino activities which can be applicable to mathematics classes based on the 7th elementary school national curriculum. Finally, we suggest several basic materials and directions to develop more systematic learning materials about pentominoes.

Inquiry Problem Solving Characteristics among Categories with Science Process Skills and Concepts by High School Student's Protocol Analysis (고등학생의 프로토콜 분석을 통한 과학 탐구능력과 개념 중심의 탐구능력 대범주별 과학 문제 해결 특성)

  • In this study, the characteristics of science inquiry problem solving were analyzed in the interactions between science process skills and science concepts by each related its category. Nine types of problem solving, which were based on two elements and the thinking aloud were found largely by protocol analysis, but six types when integrated similar thinking processes. There were quite differences in the representative types between students who succeeded and failed when science inquiry items were solved in the abilities of recognizing problems and generating hypotheses or those of drawing conclusions and evaluating. But there were not complete differences in those types between students who succeeded and failed when they were solved in the abilities of designing and performing experiments or those of interpreting and analyzing data. The data were divided into independent variables: $D_1,\;D_2,\;D_3,\;D_4,\;D$ and $C_1,\;C_2,\;C_3,\;C_4,\;C$ and dependant variables; $E_1,\;E_2,\;E_3,\;E_4,\;E$. The former consisted of the content-free science process skill achievement levels by each category of science inquiry skill and the science concept achievement levels, the latter the science inquiry problem achievement levels by each category of science inquiry skill. The regression equations were acquired within the 0.05 significant level by regression analysis: $E_1=0.03+0.16D_1+0.29C_1,\;E_2=-0.203+0.21D_2+0.45C_2,\;E_3=-0.32+0.13D_3+0.47C_3,\;E_4=0.61+0.09D_4+0.29C_4,\;E=-1.41+0.13D+0.47C$(E : the achievement of science problems, D : the achievement of science process skills, C : the achievement of science concepts).

Performative Writing of Coding Game (코딩 교육용 게임에 나타난 수행적 글쓰기 - 를 중심으로)

  • This study tries to present a new perspective for the coding and coding education. Therefore, this study analyzes coding game as performative writing. First, coding as writing process has the mechanism of serial expansion and circulation by utilizing basic code blocks. And coding as writing process produces a meaning as unit operation that generate an emergent game play. Second, coding as performative writing displays the speaking and writing at the same time and is embodied in game play. Also, absence of failure and correction makes possible users to explore the problem area and to strengthen the problem-solving ability.

A Study on the Cases of the Disaster Psychology Course in the field of Disaster & Security based on the Problem-Based Learning (PBL(문제 중심 학습)을 적용한 방재안전분야의 재해 심리 수업사례 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is designed to apply the model of the problem-based learning in the class of Disaster Psychology and then analyze the experiences that its students felt. The participants in this research are 56 undergraduates. The class of Disaster Psychology was conducted with blended learning using lecture and PBL. The PBL problem should be solved just for 3 weeks. The data collected after the class is an analysis of the PBL problem, log on group activities, personal reflection diary, Group evaluation. Then, each data should be collected and analyzed quantitatively through the repetitive comparison, and the triangle-measurement. The findings suggest that there is a remarkable educational learning experience in seven categories: acquire expertise, confidence, practical problem-solving skill, communication ability, roles of calling, efficacy, change in perspective. This study introduces a case of PBL course development and expects subsequent applications and research.

  • There is an increasing concern about computer education with the age of knowledge-based society. The learning programming language is taking an important role of computer education. However, the special emphasis in learning programming language has been attached to memorizing the programming language by rote and learning computer programs. Therefore, those were not much useful tools to develope a logical intelligence of the meanings of programming language and the methods of realization. It is positively necessary to improve the programming education efficiently because of the objects of knowledge of computing and raising an efficiency of problem solving. Under the circumstances, this research is aimed at representing an useful education model through developing a mathmatical program into each part of the C programming language, which would be a new supplier of an basic insight into the programming language and techniques. Accordingly it is thought that the research material will be an useful model to increase interests and concerns as well as to raise an efficiency of problem solving or a logical intelligence going through the process of studying programming language.

Critical Thinking Disposition and Problem-Solving Ability of Dental Hygiene Students (치위생과 학생의 비판적 사고 성향과 문제해결능력)

  • This study attempts to measure the critical thinking disposition and problem-solving ability levels of dental hygiene students and to investigate their correlation. A self-administered survey was conducted with respect to dental hygiene students from three-year colleges in Busan, Ulsan and the Gyeongsangbuk-do region between April 2013 and May 2013. A total of 649 surveys were subject to a final analysis. Critical thinking disposition of the dental hygiene students resulted in a score of 3.20 out of a total of 5.0. Freshmen, students with high academic performance results, students with good interpersonal relations, students with a high level of satisfaction regarding major subject and clinical training and students with no clinical training experience showed a high score for critical thinking disposition. Problem-solving ability of the dental hygiene students resulted in a score of 3.06 out of a total of 5.0. Students with high academic performance results, students with good interpersonal relations and students with a high level of satisfaction regarding major subject and clinical training showed a high score for problem-solving ability. It was found that critical thinking disposition and problem-solving ability had a pure correlation. The critical thinking disposition appeared to problem solving, interpersonal relations, major factors affect satisfaction, was a critical thinking disposition, academic factors affect the ability to problem solve. Regarding education for dental hygiene students, the reinforcement of training to increase critical thinking and problem-solving abilities is necessary and the development of an educational curriculum and change in educational environment that can increase interpersonal skills and communication skills is necessary.

  • 문제해결력 및 의사결정능력 향상이라는 교육 목표를 달성하기 위한 대표적인 방법 중 협동학습은 큰 효과를 보인다. 이러한 협동학습은 학습 환경이 변화함에 따라 오프라인 협동학습에서 웹기반 협동학습으로 발전되었고 요즘은 웹2.0 기반의 협동학습까지 등장하고 있다. 그러나 웹2.0의 '참여, 공유, 개방' 개념의 교육적 활용을 높이기 위해서는 무선네트워크 환경이 필수적이다. 따라서 본 연구는 무선네트워크 환경의 웹2.0 기반의 협동학습 전략을 구안하고 적용함으로서 교육적 요구에 맞는 타당성과 효과성을 검증하였다. 또한 본 연구에서 제안하는 학습전략에서 웹2.0을 통한 온라인 학습지원시스템(WCLS) 활용 방안을 제시하고 이를 통해 협동학습의 효과를 높이기 위한 교사의 역할 모형을 제안한다.

  • 과학 문명의 발달은 산업 분야뿐만 아니라 사회, 문화의 영역에 이르기까지 폭발적 발전을 가능하게 하였으나, 자연 환경을 함부로 파괴하게 되었고 인류의 삶의 터전을 회복불능의 상태로 만들어 인간을 포함한 모든 생명체의 생존을 위협하고 있다. 환경은 한번 파괴되면 이를 회복시키는데 많은 시간과 비용이 소요된다. 따라서 환경에 대한 인식과 지식 및 기능을 습득하고 올바른 태도를 기르는 환경교육이 절실히 요구된다. 그러나 현재 우리 나라 초등학교에서의 환경교육은 대부분 인지적 측면만을 지고하고 있어 환경보전 인식의 내면화를 위한 교수-학습 방법을 필요로 하고 있다. 최근 웹을 교육에 활용하는 다양한 방법이 시도되고 있으며, 특히 웹 기반 프로젝트 학습은 정보의 수용이 아니라, 학생들의 연구에 의한 학습의 개념을 도입하고 있어 교사의 지도에 의지하지 않고 학생들의 자발적인 노력으로 프로젝트를 완성해 가는 것을 가능하게 해준다. 본 논문에서는 웹 기반 프로젝트를 활용하여 개인 또는 학급내 및 타 학급간의 협력을 전제로 환경을 탐구하고 환경 문제를 발견하며 이를 해결해 나가는 환경교육이 가능한 시스템을 설계하고 구현하였다. 이러한 웹 학습 공간을 마련하여 학습자가 다양한 자료를 쉽게 얻을 수 있게 함과 동시에 상호 정보 교환을 통한 협력 학습을 함으로써 이들에게 자연의 소중함을 일깨우고 환경보전을 실천하는 기틀을 다질 수 있도록 하였다.
