Mobile GIS Application for Managing Flood Disaster in River Basin (하천유역 홍수재해관리를 위한 Mobile GIS 기술 적용)

  • 모바일 GIS를 홍수재해관리 시스템에 도입하기 위한 목적은 홍수에 대비한 신속한 상황대처 통해 인명 및 재산피해를 최소화하는데 있다. 모바일 GIS 시스템 구축의 기본 방향은 하천유역에 대한 행정업무 및 정보화 업무의 효율성을 높여 현장업무에서 실시간으로 제공되는 수문정보 및 지형정보에 대한 다양한 컨텐츠를 주민들이 쉽게 접근하여 서비스를 제공받을 수 있도록 하고 현장 실무자가 하천 수위 및 유량을 관리하는 데 있어 즉각적인 조치를 가능하도록 하기 위한 것이다. 본 연구에서 이동 클라이언트와 홍수재해관리시스템 서버간의 무선통신채널은 AP(Access Point)를 통한 WLAN이나 CDMA망의 모바일 네트워크 또는 차세대 휴대인터넷 망을 대상으로 하였다. 홍수재해관리시스템은 ArcIMS, HTML, Java Script를 이용하여 구축하고 웹 서비스를 위해 마이크로소프트사의 IIS(Internet Information System) 사용하며, ArcIMS의 정상적인 구동을 위해 JRE(Java Runtime Environment)를 설치하도록 하였다. 주요 GIS 기능은 줌인, 줌아웃, 팬, 속성정보 검색, 거리측정, 버퍼링 기능 등이고 Layer는 침수위험건물, 대피건물, 침수지역 건물용도, 건물, 도로, 수계, 침수예상지역(100, 200년 빈도), 위성영상, DEM, 행정경계 등이 포함되도록 하였다. 시스템 구축에 사용될 데이터는 수리수문학적 데이터(유출량, 강우강도, 대상지역의 면적, Manning 계수 등)와 대상지역의 수치지도, DEM, 고해상 위성영상, 문헌조사와 현장조사를 통해 얻은 자료를 바탕으로 구성하도록 하였으며, 수리수문학적 데이터와 DEM 데이터를 바탕으로 침수지역 데이터를 생성하고 문헌조사와 현장조사를 통해 얻은 속성정보와 디지털 지도인 공간정보를 연결하기 위해 디지털 지도에서 건물 Layer, 도로 Layer, 등고선 Layer, 수계 Layer를 추출하여 ArcGIS에서 Coverage로 변환하여 위상관계를 설정한 후 다시 Shape 파일로 변환하여 속성정보와 연결시키도록 데이터베이스 구축방안을 제시하였다. 이와 같이 본 연구에서는 홍수재해 관리시스템에서 모바일 GIS를 적용하기 위하여 Pocket PC를 탑재한 이동 클라이언트인 PDA에 GPS 모듈을 확장하여 GPS 위성으로부터 위치정보를 획득하고 지리정보를 제공하는 모바일 GIS 서버간에 XML 기술을 이용하여 수문정보 및 지형정보 서비스를 제공하는 방안을 제시하였다.

Smart Phone Sensor-Based Indoor Location Tracking System for Improving the Location Error of the Radio Environment (무선 환경의 위치 정보 오차 개선을 위한 스마트폰 센서 기반 실내 위치 추적 시스템)

  • In this paper, in order to improve the error is utilized to location tracking the smart sensor detects a walking information user, RSSI is to provide an indoor position tracking system that is capable of correcting an error in terms weak. The acceleration sensor is able to detect the activity in the user walking and detects the number of step and the moving distance using the same. The Direction sensor is utilized as a digital compass, to detect the moving direction of the user. As a result of detecting the walking information using the sensor, it can be showed that this proposed indoor positioning system has a high degree of accuracy for the number of steps and the movement direction. Therefore, this paper shows that the proposed technique can correct the error of the location information to be problem in the conventional indoor location system which uses the only Wi-Fi APs by estimating the user's movement direction and distance using the sensors in smartphone without an additional equipment and cost.

  • An ad hoc network is infra(Base Sstation or Access Point) free wireless mobile communication technology. Mobile nodes function as routers and servers in ad hoc networks. Many routing protocols for ad hoc network have been proposed. If any route is broken owing to moving node, source must repair broken route again. But route repair technology after route collapses is not suitable to transmit real-time data packet for QoS guarantee. So this paper presents route repair technology that prevents route from breaking. If intermediate node moves to critical section, the node issues handoff packet and sends the packet to the next node. After next node receives handoff packet, the node broadcasts route request packet to the previous node for intermediate node. Finally, even if intermediate node moves out of the routing region, the source can continuously transmit data packets to the destination through the new path.

  • The synchronization is one of the important issues for successful operation of femtocell. The synchronization of femtocell is distinctly different from that of larger wireless base stations in a number of important respects such as 1) The femtocell is located in indoor environment which may make it difficult to receive the adequate GNSS signals. 2) The backhaul of femtocell is connected to the public network which may have more PDV than private network. 3) The entire cost of femtocell needs to be very low. In our thesis, we investigate the candidate solutions including AGNSS (Assisted GNSS), NTP (Network Time Protocol), PTP (Precision Timing Protocol) and Cellular Network Listen for indoor timing solution. We propose the AGNSS-PTP Hybrid scheme which can improve time and frequency quality by selecting the better reference between AGNSS and PTP, and cover the standard status which are under discussion from IEEE, ITU-T, and IETF.

  • LoRa (Long Range) is a long-distance, low-power communication technology. Broader range of communication than NFC technology allows communication without having to install multiple APs and reduces the cost of initial infrastructure deployment. MQTT (Message, Queuing, Telemetry, Transport) protocol is also low power and lightweight protocols. It can increase module persistence and reduce maintenance costs when used with LoRa. In this paper, we developed a system for compiling various environmental information in a factory using LoRa and MQTT. Environmental sensor data from long distances can be monitored by the management system and the facilities in each workshop can be controlled. Performance tests have also shown that the use of LoRa and MQTT is effective in terms of long-distance and power consumption.

  • Recently Wi-Fi Alliance defined Wi-Fi direct, which can communicate through a direct connection between the mobile device anytime, anywhere. In Wi-Fi direct, all devices are categorized by group of owner (GO) and client. Since portability is emphasized in Wi-Fi direct devices, it is essential to control the energy consumption of a device very efficiently. In order to avoid unnecessary power consumed by GO, Wi-Fi direct standard defines two power management schemes: Opportunistic power saving scheme and Notice Of Absence (NOA) scheme. But, these two schemes do not consider the traffic pattern, so we cannot expect high energy efficiency. In this paper, we suggest an algorithm to enhance the energy efficiency of Wi-Fi direct power saving, considering the characteristics of multimedia video traffic. Proposed algorithm utilizes the statistical distribution for the size of video frames and adjusts the length of awake interval dynamically. Also, considering the inter-dependency among video frames, the proposed algorithm assigns priorities to video frames and ensures that a video frame with high priority is transmitted with higher probability than other frames with low priority. Simulation results shows that the proposed method outperforms the traditional NOA in terms with average delay and energy efficiency.

DTN Routing Method using Spatial Regularity in Urban Area (도시 환경에서 지역적 주기성을 이용한 DTN 라우팅 기법)

  • The Delay/Disruption Tolerant Network (DTN) is a network designed to operate effectively using the mobility and storage of intermediate nodes under no end-to-end guaranteed network. This new network paradigm is well-suited for networks which have unstable path and long latencies (e.g. interplanetary network, vehicular network). In this paper, we first found that each taxi has its own regularly visiting area and define this property as spatial regularity. We analyze 4000 taxi trace data in Shanghai and show the existence of spatial regularity experimentally. Based on a spatial regularity in urban environment, we present a new DTN routing method. We introduce a Weighted Center (WC) which represents spatial regularity of each node. Through the association with evenly distributed access points (APs) in urban environment, most of vehicles get their grid locations and calculate their WCs. Since our routing method only uses neighbors' WCs for building routing paths, it can be regarded as distributed and practical protocols. Our experiments involving realistic network scenarios created by the traces of about 1500 Shanghai taxies show that our routing method achieves the higher performance compared to ECT, LET by 10%~110%.

  • In order to provide the real time and proper information to the pedestrian who is using the transport connection and transfer center through data collecting and processing process, the design of the test-bed (Gimpo airport)'s communication construction and the technology of the pedestrian location tracking has been researched. The design of the communication construction should make sure that it can provide believable data to the user of the transfer center. At the same time, the location tracking should also be considered, so that the require of the communication efficiency and the location tracking efficiency can be met together. In order to make the efficient location tracking technology, the problems related to the commercial technology based real time location identification will be resolved and the new approach method was proposed and be applied and analysed to the test-bed. The wireless access points can be located in the most real-world situation which has added the characteristics of the real building to the electronic map, and through the analysis of theirs location, they can be set as the mainly necessary points for the communication construction design and the location tracking and the method to locate that points has been proposed. How to set, how to apply it to the test-bed and the examination result will be introduced in this paper.

IEEE 802.11-based Power-aware Location Tracking System (저전력을 고려한 IEEE 802.11 기반 위치 추적 시스템)

  • Location tracking system through GPS and Wi-Fi is available at no additional cost in an environment of IEEE 802.11-based wireless network. It is useful for many applications in outdoor environment. However, a previous systems used for general device to tag. It is unsuitable for power aware location tracking system because general devices is more expensive and non-optimized for tracking. The hand-off method of IEEE 802.11 standard is not enough considering power consumption. This thesis analyzes the previous location tracking systems and proposes power aware system. First, we designed and implemented tag to optimize location tracking. Next, we propose low-power hand-off method and low-power behavior model in implemented tag. The proposed hand-off method resolve power problem by using the location information and behavior model minimize power consumption of tag through power-saving mode and the concept of duty cycle. To evaluating proposed methods and system performance, we perform simulations and experiments in real environment. And then, we calculate tag's power consumption based on the actual measured current consumption of each operation. In a simulation result, the proposed behavior model and hand-off method reduced about 98%, 59% than the standard's hand-off and default behavior model.
