  • The $FeIn_2S_4$ exhibits an inverse spinel which Fe ions are occupied to the octahedral(B) site, while In ions are occupied to both the tetrahedral(A) and the octahedral(B) site. The $N\'{e}el$ temperature($T_N$) is determined to be 13 K. The effective moment of $FeIn_2S_4$ found to be $5.094{\mu}_B$ from the fit of Curie-Weiss inverse susceptibility for the temperature range over $T_N$, implying angular momentum contribution. The angular momentum contribution is shown in $M\"{o}ssbauer$ spectra for the antiferromagnetic ordering region($T{\leq}\;13K$), too. A weak $Fe^{2+}(B)-S^2-Fe^{2+}(B)$ interaction is responsible for a low $N\'{e}el$ temperature($T_N$) in $FeIn_2S_4$ system. The temperature dependence of electric quadrupole interaction is explained by z-axial crystalline field energy.

  • The sulphur spinel $FeCr_{2-x}M_xS_4$(M=Ga, In) have been studied with Mossbauer spectroscopy, x-ray diffraction (XRD), and vibrating sample magnetometer. The XRB patterns for samples $FeCr_{2-x}M_xS_4$(M=Ga, In: x=0.1, 0.3) reveal a single phase, which the Ga and In ions are partially occupied to the tetrahedral (A) site. The Neel temperature for the Ga substituted samples increases from 180 to 188 K, with increase from x=0.1 to 0.3. While, it decreases from 173 to 160 K, for the In substituted samples of the x=0.1 and 0.3, respectively. The Mossbauer spectra were collected from 4.2 K to room temperature. We have analyzed the Mossbauer spectra using eight Lorentzian lines fitting method for the $FeCr_{2-x}In_xS_4$(x=0.1) at 4.2 K, yielding the 1311owing results; $H_{hf}=146.0kOe,\;{\Delta}E_Q=1.88mm/s,\;\theta=36^{\circ},\;\phi=0^{\circ},\;\eta=0.6$, and R=1.9. The Ga ions enter into the both sites octahedral (B) and tetrahedral (A), simultaneously the same amounts of Fe ions migrate from the A to the B site, this result is an agreement with XRD results, too. The ${\Delta}E_Q$ of the A and B site in Mossbauer spectra of the samples $FeCr_{2-x}Ga_xS_4$(x=0.3) are 0.83 and 2.94mm/s, respectively. While they are 0.56 and 2.36mm/s for the $FeCr_{2-x}In_xS_4$(x=0.3). It is noticeable that the ${\Delta}E_Q$ for the Ga doped samples are larger than that of the corresponding In doped samples, in spite of the larger ionic radius for In ions. The bond lengths of Cr-S, for the Ga and In doped samples (x=0.3) are found to be 2.41 and $2.43\;{\AA}$, respectively. We interpret that the larger covalence effect from the smaller bond length induces a large asymmetric charge distribution. Finally, it gives a large quadrupole interaction.

  • [ $ZnCr_2O_4$ ] shows geometrically frustrated magnet. Recently, $CoCr_2O_4$ has been investigated for multiferroic property and dielectric anomalies by spin-current model. Polycrystalline $CoCr_2O_4$ and $CoCrFeO_4$ compounds was prepared by wet-chemical process. Crystallographic and magnetic properties of $CoCr_2O_4$ and $CoCrFeO_4$ were investigate by using the x-ray diffractometer(XRD), vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM), superconducting quantum interference device magnetometer(SQUID), and $M\"{o}ssbauer$ spectroscopy. The crystal structure was found to be single-phase cubic spinel with space group of Fd3m. The lattice constants of $CoCr_2O_4$ and $CoCrFeO_4$ $a_0$ were determined to be 8.340 and 8.377 ${\AA}$, respectively. The ferrimagnetic transition temperature for the both samples were observed at 97 K and 320 K. The $M\"{o}ssbauer$ absorption spectra at 4.2 K show that the well developed two sextets are superposed with small difference of hyperfine field($H_{hf1}=507\;and\;H_{hf2}=492\;kOe$). Isomer shift values($\delta$) of the two sextets are found to be 0.33 and 0.34 mm/s relative to the Fe metal, respectively, which are consistent with the high spin $Fe^{3+}$ charge state.

  • Oxygen-deficient anatase and rutile titanium dioxide $(TiO_{2-\delta})$ thin films were prepared by a sol-gel method and their structural, electronic, and magnetic properties were investigated. Both anatase and rutile $TiO_{2-\delta}:Fe$ Fe films exhibited ferromagnetism at room temperature for a limited range of Fe doping. For the same amount of Fe doping, the anatase sample exhibited a higher magnetic moment than the rutile one. Result of conversion electron Mossbauer spectroscopy measurements indicates that $Fe^{3+}$ ions substituting the octahedral $Ti^{4+}$ sites mainly contribute to the room-temperature ferromagnetism. Some of the anatase $TiO_{2-\delta}:Fe$ films exhibited p-type character but the observed feromagnetism turns out to be independent of the hole concentration. The room-temperature ferromagnetism can be explained in terms of a direct ferromagnetic coupling between two neighboring $Fe^{3+}$ ions via an electron trapped in oxygen vacancy in $TiO_{2-\delta}:Fe$.

  • Pure and Fe-doped CuO thin-film and powder samples were prepared using a sol-gel method. Undoped CuO films exhibited monoclinic structure and p-type electrical conductivity $(\~10^{-2}\;{\Omega^{-1}\;cm^{-1}$ due to copper deficiency. On the other hand, CuO: Fe films were found to be insulating and Li doping on the films led to a restoration of p-type conductivity and a ferromagnetic hysteresis behaviour at room temperature. The observed properties far the CuO : Fe, Li films can be explained in terms of hole creation by substitution of $Li^+$ for $Cu^{2+}$ sites and mediation of long-range interactions between $Fe^{3+}$ ions by the $Li^+$-induced defect states. CuO: Fe powders exhibited a ferromagnetism at room temperature with its strength being dependent on post-annealing temperature. Mossbauer measurements on the CuO: Fe films and powders revealed that the octahedral $Cu^{2+}$ sites are mostly substituted by $Fe^{3+}$ ions.

  • Magnetic nanocomposites contained iron oxide were synthesized by through cross-linking polymerization of dimethylacetamide (DMAc) solution and toluen solution on the amphiphilic polymer networks based on urethan acrylate nonionomer (UAN) precursor chains. For the study on microscopic structures and magnetic properties of the magnetic nanoparticles, FESEM and XRD and Mossbauer spectroscopy were used. The results investigated show that there are magnetic nanoparticles of $Fe_2O_3$ in samples and the magnetic nanocomposites contained iron oxide in polymer networks of UAN using DMAc solution are more smaller than using toluen solution. All of the Fe ions in the samples present $Fe^{3+}$ and the magnetic property of samples are paramagnetic by superparamagnetic effect at room temperature.

  • Fe compounds of scoria distributed in northern area of Jeju island are investigated using X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, X-ray diffractometry, and $^{57}Fe$ Mossbauer spectroscopy. The samples were prepared from four parasite volcanos. These samples consist of the typical basalt comprised of $SiO_2,\;Al_2O_3$, Fe compounds, and silicate minerals. The $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectra showed doublets for olivine, pyroxene, and ilmenite as well as sextets for hematite and magnetite. The valence state of Fe is chiefly a 3+ charge state with a little 2+ charge state. It is expected that this results will add to the body of information related to the information mechanism of Jeju island. The geochemistry for these samples is the same results to mid-mountain's samples in Jeju Island.

  • Amorphous $Fe_{73.5}Cu_{1}Nb_{3}Si_{16.5}B_{6}$ ribbons were annealed for different time at $500^{\circ}C$ and $552^{\circ}C$, just before and after the exothermic reaction in DSC curve. The development of nanocrystalline phase was investigated by means of $M\"{o}ssbsuer$ spectroscopy. The crystalline phase consists mainly of $DO_{3}Fe-Si$. Though slight in amount (5%), another ferromagnetic phase which could be presumed $t-Fe_{3}B$ was detected Si content of $DO_{3}Fe-Si$, Si/(Fe+Si), was 0.218 under the heat treatment at $500^{\circ}C$ for 60 min and 0.222 at $552^{\circ}C$ for 10 min. Since then both of those values decreased with time until 120 min and finally these two values remained constant at 0.210. The variation in Si content with annealing time results in the variation in the hyperfine field and the isomer shift. The increase in the mean hyperfine fields and the decrease in the mean isomer shifts of Fe-Si are caused by the increase in Si content. The volume fractions of residual amorphous phase rapidly decrease during the early stage of annealing and come nearer to saturation after 120 min both at $500^{\circ}C$ and $552^{\circ}C$. The decrease in the mean hyperfine field of residual amorphous. in spite of slight changes in the volume fractions of Fe-Si and of residual amorphous after 120 min. is caused by the increase in the content of Nb and B in residual amorphous phase. The saturated volume fraction of the crystalline phase was 81% for $500^{\circ}C$ (180 min) and 77% for $552^{\circ}C$ (960 min), different from expectation.

  • In this paper, we composed the $LiFePO_4$ for the reversible use as the replacement material of the Li ion batteries and confirmed the good quality of the structure of the samples with the sintering temperature $675^{\circ}C,\;750^{\circ}C,\;and\;800^{\circ}C$ for 30 hours at nitrogen atmosphere. We also investigated the size of the particles through SEM picture and the change of the sintering temperature and the $Fe^{+3}$ content after charging the materials with 1 V, 160 mA and 3 V, 40 mA for 3 hours by Mossbauer spectroscopy. Also we can observe the increase on the $Fe^{+3}$ content at the charge condition and the increase of the amount ratio of the $Fe^{+3}$ ion only in sintering temperature $675^{\circ}C$ according to the increase of the electric charge. We cannot observe the change of the $Fe^{+3}$ ion in sintering temperature $800^{\circ}C$ after charging.

  • The crystal structure and magnetic properties of magnetic oxide system (F $e_2$ $O_3$)$_{5}$(A $l_2$ $O_3$)$_{4-x}$(G $a_2$ $O_3$)$_{x}$)SiO has been studied using X-ray diffraction and Mossbauer spectroscopy The changes of magnetic structure by the Ga ion substitution and the temperature variation have been investigated using Mossbauer spectroscopy, and the results are compared with those of the SQUIB measurements. Results of X-ray diffraction indicated that the crystal structures of the system change from a cubic spinel type to an orthorhombic via the intermediate region. This magnetic oxide system seems to be new kind of spinel type ferrites containing high concentration of cation vacancies. Various and complicated Mossbauer spectra were observed in the samples (x>0.2) at temperatures lower than room temperature. This result could be explained by freezing of the superparamagnetic dusters. On cooling and substitution, magnetic states of the system show various and multicritical properties. Unexpected dip in magnetization curves below 50K was observed in SQUID measurements. It was interpreted as an effect of spin canting including spin freezing or collective spin behavior.ior.r.
