Characteristics and Applications of a Strain Modal Testing Method (변형률 모드시험방법의 특성 및 응용)

  • A strain modal testing method has been applied to a cantilever beam to investigate the characteristics of the method. By applying the method to an analytical and an experimental system, it was shown that accurate modal parameters can be estimated from strain frequency response functions using a current modal parameter extraction algorithm. The modal parameters estimated by the method are more accurate than those by the conventional method which uses accelerometers when the tested system is of light weight. The method can be used to predict strain responses and excitation forces for given excitation forces and responses, respectively. Cracks on a structure can be detected by measuring strian FRFs and comparing them with the original ones.

  • The dynamic vehicle running tests were performed to analyze dynamic behavioral characteristics such as displacement, strain history loop and vibration acceleration in arch bridges. Also, the validity of the modeling was verified by comparing the results of the tests and those of the structural analysis modeling. With the resonance revision of verified modeling, when the ratio of excited frequencies to natural frequencies exceeds ${1{\pm}0.04}$, the stability of the bridge is obtained. Also, in the event of resonance by speed parameter, the second mode shape is dominant to the dynamic behaviors of arch bridges. It is found that manipulating the parameters involving arch ribs can increase the second mode natural frequency. It makes critical velocity greater than operational velocities to guarantee the stability of arch bridges.

  • 주어진 시계열 자료의 경향성을 분석하고 판별하는 것은 수문 자료의 분석에서 가장 우선적으로 수행되어야 할 절차이며 경향성의 유무에 따라 자료를 분석하는 방법이 달라지게 되므로 매우 중요한 부분이다. 일반적으로 국내에서 주로 사용되는 수문 시계열 자료의 경향성 분석 방법으로는 비매개변수적인 방법인 Mann-Kendall test, Spearman's rho test, Hotelling Pabst test, Sentest 등이 있으며 그 중에서도 국내외 수문 자료의 경향성 분석에는 비교적 높은 기각력을 보이는 Mann-Kendall test가 주된 방법으로 활용되어 오고 있다. Mann-Kendall test는 통계적 유의성을 바탕으로 한 경향성 판별 방법으로 시계열 자료 내에 존재하는 경향성의 형태를 분석하여 경향성 유무를 판별하는 것에는 한계가 있다. 경험적 모드분해법을 활용한 경향성 분석 방법은 체거름 과정을 통하여 주어진 시계열 자료를 내재모드함수로 분해한 후, 추출된 모든 요소를 제거하고 남은 잔여값의 형태를 이용하여 경향성 유무를 판별하는 방법으로 자료에 내재된 경향성의 형태를 확인할 수 있는 장점을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 경험적 모드분해법을 이용한 경향성 분석 방법을 소개하고, 모의를 통한 시계열 자료를 이용하여 경향성 분석에 적용한 후 기존에 사용되어온 Mann-Kendall test와의 비교를 통해 적용성을 평가하였다.

Evaluation of the Effect of Metal Artifacts Varying the Parameters of the Attenuation Map for the artificial Hip Joint in SPECT/CT (SPECT/CT에서 인공고관절에 대한 감쇠보정지도(Attenuation Map)의 매개변수 변화에 따른 금속 인공물(Metal Artifact)의 영향 평가)

  • Purpose SPECT/CT scan to be performed attenuation correction on the basis of CT induce an overestimation of the site due to the beam hardening artifact by metal cover and reduce the images quality. Therefore, this study using a phantom that has been inserted artificial hip joint investigated that effect on the SPECT/CT image causing by metal artifact for varying the parameters of the Attenuation Map. Materials and Methods Siemens Symbia T16 SPECT/CT equipment was used. Artificial hip joint was inserted to SPECT/PET phantom, 17 mm sphere of Bright Streak area in CT image was filled with Tc-99m so that the radiation activity was 8 times compared to background. And then Hot and Background was measured in varying Wide Beam Coefficient on Attenuation Map and RBR (Region to Background Ratio) of Metal and Non-Metal was calculated and analyzed depending on the presence or absence of the hip joint. Results It tended to hot count of Non-Metal and Metal to increase as the value of the manual mode is increased, hot count ratio with the group of both manual mode 0.5 and 0.4 is the best match. Also, in automatic mode, the ratio of RBRNon-Metal and RBRMetal was 1.135, statistically significant difference was not observed in the manual mode 0.5 and 0.4. Conclusion In the automatic mode of Wide Beam Coefficient in attenuation correction map, it was found that it is over-correction by 13.52%, it was possible to minimize the over-correction by the artifact in 0.5 and 0.4 of manual mode. Further studies should be performed in order to apply to a patient with the help of this and it is considered possible to reduce the over-correction by the metal artifact of an artificial hip joint for Hip-Resurfacing Arthroplasty patients, and to improve the diagnostic performance.

  • 복합재료의 피로특성과 해석방법에 대하여 간략하게 살펴보았다. 복합재료의 피로현상에 대한 이해의 폭이 넓어짐에 따라 앞에서 소개한 방법외에 파단모드별 연구, 역학에 기초를 둔 해석법, 유한요소법의 적용, 혼성복합재료(hybrid composites)의 피로수명 예측 등의 다양한 연구가 진 행중이나, 아직 정립된 피로수명 예측식은 없다고 말할 수 있다. 재료의 손상을 나타내는 매개 변수로서 강성변화의 유용성이 밝혀진 상태이므로 앞으로 이를 이용하여 실제의 현상을 표현할 수 있는 손상함수의 구성과 피로수명 예측에 관한 연구가 수행되어야 한다.

  • This study was performed to make a close inquiry into a pseudo 3-dimensional structure of the liquid-propellant spray emerging from nonimpinging-type injector. Spray configuration near the injector exit was captured by a high-speed camera, and then its periodic phenomena (shedding) was observed. Detailed spatial structure of spray was investigated by spray characteristic parameters (velocity, diameter, volume flux, etc.) with the aid of a Dual-mode Phase Doppler Anemometry (DPDA). Experiment was carried out at various locations along the geometric axis of the nozzle orifice and on the plane normal to the spray stream with the injection pressures of 17.2 to 27.6 bar.

  • In this paper the feasibility of Nondestructive Damage Detection (NDD) in large structures is demonstrated via simulating vibration monitoring of such structures. The theory of NDD for truss type structures is formulated. To examine the feasibility of the theory, a finite element model of a 3-D truss structure, which consists of sixteen bays and includes 246 elements, is developed to simulate damage. Four damage cases are simulated numerically and the cases range from the structure being damaged in one location to the structure being damaged in three locations. For the given modal parameters, this study reveals very good results for small amounts of damage as well as large damage.

  • Two-dimensional distribution characteristics on the spray droplets emanating from an injector employed in a liquid-propellant thruster are investigated through dual-mode phase Doppler anemometry (DPDA). Spray-breakup characteristic parameters such as spray droplet velocity, turbulent intensity, Sauter mean diameter (SMD), number density, and volumetric flux are quantified to scrutinize the macroscopic behavior of injector-spray breakup. The present study will be able to contribute to the comprehension for performance features of the thruster in current use and to the design engineering of a brand-new thruster as well.

  • Dual-mode Phase Doppler Anemometry (DPDA) was used to scrutinize the spatial distribution characteristics of spray emanating from a small Liquid-Rocket Engine (LRE) injector. Droplet size and velocity were measured according to the variation of injection pressure along the plane normal to the spray stream and then the spray characteristic parameters such as Arithmetic Mean Diameter (AMD), Sauter Mean Diameter (SMD), number density, span of drop size distribution, and volume flux were deduced for an investigation of spray breakup characteristics. As the injection pressure increases, the number density, span, and volume flux of spray droplets become higher, whereas the AMD gets smaller.

  • A method, termed as the substructural sensitivity synthesis method, which utilizes the computational merits of the component mode synthesis technique is proposed to calculate design sensitivity of modal parameters of substructurally combined structures. In this method, the sensitivity analysis is combined with component mode synthesis thchnique. thus the degrees of freedom of a combined structure can be dramatically reduced. Free-interface mode method including the residual attachment modes among the component mode synthesis methods is used to calculate the modal sensitivity of the combined structure. For the design sensitivities of modal properties of structure, the Nelson's method, which is exact solving method is used. It is shown that the modal sensitivities of the entire structure can be obtained by synthesizing the substructural modal data, and the sensitivities of the modal data about the design variables of modifiable substructure. Using the proposed method, the final degrees of freedom of entire structure can be remarkably reduced to calculate the modal parameter sensitivities. With a structure composed of beams and plates, as an example, the sensitivities of the eigenvalues and eigenvectors obtained by this proposed method were compared with the exact solutions in terms of accuracy.
