Radarsat-1 ScanSAR Quick-look Signal Processing and Demonstration Using SPECAN Algorithm (SPECAN 알고리즘을 이용한 Radatsat-1 ScanSAR Quick-look 신호 처리 및 검증 알고리즘 구현)

  • As the performance of the spaceborne SAR has been dramatically enhanced and demonstrated through advanced missions such as TerraSAR and LRO(Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter), the need for highly sophisticated and efficient SAR processor is also highlighted. In Korea, the activity of SAR researches has been mainly concerned with SAR image applications and the current SAR raw data studies are mostly limited to stripmap mode cases. The first Korean spaceborne SAR is scheduled to be operational from 2010 and expected to deliver vast amount of SAR raw data acquired from multiple operational scenarios including ScanSAR mode. Hence there will be an increasing demand to implement ground processing systems that enable to analyze the acquired ScanSAR data and generate corresponding images. In this paper, we have developed an efficient ScanSAR processor that can be directly applied to spaceborne ScanSAR mode data. The SPECAN(Spectrum Analysis) algorithm is employed for this purpose and its performance is verified through RADARSAT-1 ScanSAR raw data taken over Korean peninsular. An efficient quick-look processing is carried out to produce a wide-swath SAR image and compared with the conventional RDA processing case.

Guided-mode Resonances in Periodic Surface Structures Induced on Si Thin Film by a Laser (레이저에 의해 생성된 Si 박막의 주기적 표면 구조에서의 도파모드 공진 연구)

  • We examine the spectral characteristics of laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSSs) formed on an amorphous silicon film irradiated by a 355-nm nanosecond laser. A Gaussian beam with a diameter of 196 ㎛ is used to perform a two-dimensional raster scan. The laser's pulse number is varied from 190 to 280, and its intensity is adjusted within 100-130 mJ/cm2. LIPSSs with a periodicity of approximately 330 nm form on the surface of the Si film, aligned perpendicular to the laser's polarization. Transmission spectra of the samples show dips around 700 nm for transverse electric polarization and around 500 nm for transverse magnetic polarization. The features are investigated with a one-dimensional-grating model using a rigorous coupled-wave analysis. Simulations confirm that the observed dips are due to the resonant modes, depending on the polarization.

A Study on the Injection Rate Observer of the Piezo-actuated and Solenoid-operated Injectors for CRDI Diesel Engines (직분식 커먼레일 디젤엔진의 피에조 인젝터와 솔레노이드 인젝터의 연료분사율 추정)

  • Fuel injection system greatly affects the performance of a direct injection diesel engine. A common rail injection system was introduced to satisfy the stringent emission standards, low fuel consumption, and low noise in recent years. The performance of a common-rail fuel injection system is strongly influenced by the injector characteristics. The common rail injector has evolved in order to improve its injection performance. The piezo-actuated injector is more suitable for common rail injection system due to its fast response and is expected to replace current solenoid-operated injector. In this study, nonlinear mathematical models are proposed for the solenoid-operated and the piezo-actuated injectors for control applications. Based on these models, the injection rate, which is one of the most important factors for the injection characteristics, is estimated using sliding mode observer. The simulation results and the experimental data show that the proposed sliding mode observers can effectively estimate the injection timing and the injection rate for both common-rail injectors.

Engine Control TCS using Throttle Angle Control and Estimated Load Torque (스로틀 개도 제어와 부하토크 추정을 이용한 엔진 제어 방식 TCS)

  • The purpose of engine control TCS is to regulate engine torque to keep driven wheel slip in a desired range. In this paper, engine control TCS using sliding mode control law based on engine model and estimated load torque is proposed. This system includes a two-level controller. Slip controller calculates desired wheel torque, and engine torque controller determines throttle angle for engine torque corresponding to desired wheel torque. Another issue is to measure load torque for model based controller design. Luenberger observer with state variables of load torque and engine speed solves this problem as estimating load torque. The performance of controller and observer is certificated by simulation using 8-degree vehicle model, Pacejka tire model, and 2-state engine model. The simulation results in various maneuvers during slippery and split road conditions showed that acceleration performance and ability of the vehicle with TCS is improved. Also, the load torque observer could estimate real load torque very well, so its performance was proved.

  • This paper presents the system modeling, analysis, and controller design and implementation with a inverted pendulum system in order to test robust algorithm for sweeping machine. The balancing of an inverted pendulum by moving pendulum robot like as 'segway' along a horizontal track is a classic problem in the area of control. This paper will describe two methods to swing a pendulum attached to a cart from an initial downwards position to an upright position and maintain that state. The results of real experiment show that the proposed control system has superior performance for following a reference command at certain initial conditions.

  • In this paper, a novel motor control method is proposed to improve the performance of sensorless drive of BLDC motors. In the terminal voltage sensing method, which is a great portion of sensorless control, a precise rotor position cannot be obtained when excessive input is applied to the drive during synchronous operation mode. Especially in the transient state, the response characteristic decreases. To cope with this problem, the unknown input (back-EMF) is modelled as the additional state of system in this paper. Taking into account the disturbance adopted by the back-EMF, the observer can be obtained by the augmented system equation. An algorithm to detect the back-EMF of the BLDC motor using the state observer is constructed. As a result, the novel sensorless drive of BLDC motors that can strictly estimate rotor position and speed is proposed.

  • This paper proposes an adaptive sliding mode observer (SMO), which adds the estimation function of the stator resistance to a new sliding mode observer for the robust sensorless control of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) with variable parameters. To reduce the chattering problem commonly found in the conventional sliding mode observer where the low-pass filter and additional position compensation of the rotor are used, the sigmoid function is used for the control of a switching function in this research. With the estimation of the stator resistance, the proposed observer can improve the control performance by reducing the estimation error of the motor's speed. Note that the stator resistance is varying with the ambient temperature and becomes an error source for the sensorless control of PMSM. The new sliding mode observer has better efficiency than the conventional adaptive sliding mode observer by reducing the time consuming integral calculations. The stability of the proposed adaptive sliding mode observer is verified by the Lyapunov function in determining the observer gains, and the effectiveness of the observer is demonstrated by simulations and experiments.

  • 우주방사선이나 과도펄스(Transient Radiation) 형태의 감마 방사선이 반도체에 조사되면 소자 내부에서 짧은 시간에 다량의 전하가 생성된다. 이 전하들과 증폭된 과전류는 소자의 고장(Upset, Latchup)과 오동작을 유발시키게 되고 나아가 전자부품이 소진(Burnout)되는 직접적인 원인이 된다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 핵폭 방출 과도방사선에 대한 전자부품/장비의 내방사선관련 기초연구로 군전자부품의 감마-과도방사선에 대한 피해분석 시험을 수행하고 나아가 과도방사선 방호기술 체계구축의 필요성에 대해 논하였다. 과도펄스 방사선시험은 군용으로 분류된 반도체 칩을 대상으로 포항 전자빔가속기를 사용하였다. 핵폭발 방출 과도방사선을 모사하기 위해 감마선 변환장치를 MCNP 설계를 통해 제작하고 단일모드의 마이크로초 단위 감마펄스 방사선을 방출시켜 시험대상 칩을 부착한 시험보드에 조사하는 과정으로 실험을 진행하였다. 온라인 고속 측정장치를 통한 전자소자의 과도방사선시험에서 다양한 피해현상을 측정할 수 있었고, 열상카메라 촬영을 통하여 과열상태를 관측함으로써 피해현상의 검증과 더불어 소진현상으로의 전개 가능성을 확인하였다.

  • 최근 해저지진의 활동에 따른 극한 쯔나미 파랑이 해안도시와 항만에 어마어마한 손상을 가져오고 있다. 전세계에 걸쳐 특정해역에서는 강한 정진형태의 부진동과 처오름이 관측되고 있다. 한반도에서는 그렇게 빈번한 발생을 나타내고 있지는 않으나, 과거기록을 보면 동해에서 몇 개의 중요한 발생사례도 존재한다. 본 연구에서는 특히 만이나 내수해역에서 최근 해저지진의 발생 추이를 분석하고 이에 따른 쯔나미 발생 메카니즘을 해석하여 새롭게 내수역에서의 수치모델에의 적용을 통해 공진을 통한 쯔나미 파랑의 변환을 다루어 통항선박에 대한 안정성 확보에 기초자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 내수역에서의 쯔나미 파랑에 대한 반응을 정합성 및 웨이블릿 해석으로 탁월 주기와 지속시간에 대한 분석으로 파악하였으며, 쯔나미파의 입사와 독립적인 공진모드의 도출은 쯔나미 재해의 경감을 위한 시설물 및 재난지역을 식별하는데 도움을 주고, 나아가서는 장래 재난에 대한 적절한 대비에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 본다.

  • The stewart platform manipulator is a manipulator that has the closed-loop structure with an upper plate end-effector and a base frame. The stewart platform manipulator has the merit of high working accuracy and high stiffness compared with a serial manipulator. However, this is a complex structure, so controllability of the system is not so good. In this paper, we introduce a new robust motion control algorithm using partial state feedback for a class of nonlinear systems in the presence of modelling uncertainties and external disturbances. The major contribution of this work introduces the development and design of robust observer for the state and the perturbation, which is integrated into a variable structure controller(VSC) structure. The combination of controller/observer improves the control performance, because of the robust routine called sliding mode control with sliding perturbation observer(SMCSPO). Simulation and experiment are performed to apply to the manipulator. And their results show a high accuracy and a good performance.
