  • New electronic ballast for metal halide laws is proposed New ballast has higher efficiency than that of conventional ballast. Proposed 2 stage ballast uses low arm switch as synchronous rectifier mitch. Switch-on voltage drop is smaller than that of diode in small current(<1.5A). High arm switch is turned on in zero voltage in proposed ballast. So conduction loss and switching loss are reduced Index word - synchronous rectifier mitch, toro voltage switching, conduction loss, switching loss.

  • 150W의 정격을 가지는 150W-CDM, HCI, CMH 세라믹 메탈 할라이드 램프의 음향공명주파수를 계산하여 예측하고 Half-Bridge구조의 Inverter로 각 램프를 점등하여 음향공명이 발생할 경우와 발생하지 않을 경우의 램프 특성을 분석한 결과 음향공명 발생시 30Hz이하의 낮은 주파수의 전류 신호가 포함됨을 확인하였다.

  • High intensity metal halide discharge lamp performance, specifically the generated luminous flux and light color content, depends critically on the arc tube design. Factors influencing the design and consequent lamp efficacy include : lamp size, geometry, arc tube composition, fill chemistry, electrode design and excitation modes. Shaping of Polycrystalline Alumina(PCA) can be realized by conventional ceramic processes. Several processes are applied nowadays. Well-known in the ceramic high pressure field for decades are the pressing and the extrusion method. Newly developed slurry and precious forming technologies give the one-body seamless tubes, which improve thickness uniformity and lighting performance. Now, we reported some optical properties with different arc tube structures of ceramic metal halide lamps.

  • In recent, ceramic metal halide lamps that use the ceramic in arc tube material have the advantage of high rendering index, high efficacy, long life. According to increase applications, the research continue to improve various factor that is arc tube material, optimization of gas and metal halide. In oder to improve system characteristics of CMH Lamp with ceramic arc tube, when operating CMH lamp with magnetic and electronics ballast, we compared with electrical, optical characteristics in this paper.

  • This paper presents a digital controller of electronic ballast for the metal halide lamp. The proposed controller includes the control algorithm for soft starting, no load protection, overcurrent protection and dimming(or power control). The proposed controller, moreover, has the high frequency modulation scheme and the tracking algorithm to avoid acoustic resonance phenomena. For the math production with the low cost using the ASICs, the proposed controller has been designed with the EPLDs only, without any microprocessor. In this paper, the proposed control algorithms are described and the experimental results of prototype 150W metal halide electronic ballast are presented.

  • This paper presents the conductance model at high frequency of the Ceramic Metal Halide Lamp and the designing method of the electronic ballast with the LCC resonant tank type by using that model. Conductance model is based on a physical phenomenon in the discharge tube of the lamp and model constants of conductance model are obtained by Least Squares Method. After equivalent impedances are determined by the conductance model, The LCC resonance tank is designed by using the equation of the lamp power. Simulation result using PSpice software and experimental results show that the conductance model in this paper is very useful to design the electronic ballast at high frequency for the Ceramic Metal Halide Lamps.

  • Ceramic metal halide lamps have been widely used due to long lifetime, high luminous efficiency and good colour rendering. In this paper, we developed dimming control system of electronic ballast for 70W ceramic metal halide lamp by using 1-10V interface. The proposed electronic ballast is consists of EMI filter, Full-wave rectifier, Active PFC, DBI(Dual Buck Inverter), Igniter and control circuit.It enables to supply both low-frequency rectangular wave voltage and current to the lamp by using DBI(Dual Bcuk Inverter) structure. By using 1-10V interface, the system that able to dimming the lamp is demonstrated by P-spice simulation and experimental results.

  • 본 논문에서는 개정된 KS 기준을 만족하면서 새로이 인도 조명기구용 pole을 설치할 필요 없이 기존의 가로등 pole에 바로 적용할 수 있는 높이가 낮은 인도용 조명기구용 반사판의 설계를 실행하고 광학 성능 예측 프로그램을 사용하여 그 성능을 확인하였다. 또한 설계는 신광원에 관심이 집중되고 있는 현재 추세에 맞추어 콤팩트 메탈할라이드 램프를 적용하여 실행하고 조명기구 반사판의 소형화 및 고성능화를 이끌어 낼 수 있도록 하였다.

  • 기존 육지초인용으로 사용되는 전구식 회전형 대형등명기는 고압방전등을 사용하고 있어 고장발생 빈도가 높고 긴급수리에 장시간이 소요되어 기능 유지가 어려우며, 제품 가격이 높아 신규 설치 및 등명기 교체 시 비용 부담이 가중되는 문제점이 대두되고 있다. 따라서 기존 광원(메탈할라이드 램프 또는 텅스텐할로겐 램프)의 문제점을 개선하고, IALA에서 권고하는 규격을 만족하는 효율성과 안정성을 확보한 LED 대형등명기 개발이 국 내외에서 활발하게 수행되고 있다. 이러한 LED 대형등명기는 LED 모듈을 안정적으로 구동하는 LED 드라이버와 정확한 등질구현을 위한 모터제어회로가 필요하다. 또한 LED 모듈 및 LED 드라이버 고장 시 예비장치로 절환이 가능한 회로설계 및 교체유지관리가 용이한 제어반 기구개발 및 특성연구가 필요하다.

  • The use of arc tubes made of ceramic material further enhanced some of the metal halide lamp's properties. These properties translate into higher efficacy with better color rendering, stable color through lamp long life. Recently, due to an increase in the application of the ceramic metal-halide lamp, the study for the property etc. according to Ballast's driving scheme and the study for arc tube material, optimization of gas and so on are being proceeded to improve the property of the lamp. Especially, to control ceramic metal-halide lamp, the vigorous study and practical use with respect to Electronic Ballast, which has been improved in the disadvantages of the conventional Magnetic Ballast are made. In this paper, Electrical, optical and thermal characteristics are analyzed by comparing magnetic ballast with electronic ballast.
