Recently, the need for integration of military-related information is increasing. The fundamental problem for integrating existing information systems is semantic inconsistency. To solve this problem, the use of metadata is essential, because metadata is a key component for effective information integration. In this paper, we present a metadata-based data grid system for integrating military data sources. First, we investigate federated database approach and data grid approach for information integration, and deal with metadata-based data grid. Then we present a data grid system for the integration of military information.

World Wide Web is not more meaningless sea of information but is becoming the Semantic Web that provides many users with meaningful information. The starting point is the XML and metadata, RDF is a stopover which gives technique to relate arbitrary web resources. And now, the semantic and logic of web resources can be settled in the Ontology. A lot of educational multimedia web resources in Korea have produced their metadata with KERIS's KEM(Korea Educational Metadata). Therefore our country have to start the study of the semantic and logic in web resources. But, many researchers in Korea are more eager to study Dublin Core's DC and SCORM's LOM metadata specification than KEM. Thus the study of method about sharing and integrating these three metadata specifications should be performed before the study of semantic and logic in web resources in Korea. We design the Ontology to integrate these three metadata specifications and implement the prototype system using this Ontology. These three metadata have some elements that have same labels and meanings, and other elements have different labels and same meanings. To match these different labels which have same meanings, we adapted the one-to-one mapping technique in designing our Ontology. This designed Ontology was imported as "integrated schema" in our prototype searching system to integrate three different metadata in databases. Moreover we know that the more specific property design of class in Ontology was needed in order to provide users with more informed searching results such as synonym, antonym, hierarchy and associations.

WThe education information have been increased. Accordingly, the necessary of developing on education information metadata standards has been increased. By the reason, the Korea Education & Research Information Service developed KEM(Korea Educational Metadata) 2.0. And MPEG-7 was developed to describe metadata of multimedia data. In this paper, we developed a education information image retrieval system. This system used XML schema to accept education information image metadata. We integrated contents-based retrieval and a semantic-based retrieval to overcome there problems that content-based retrieval system can not support semantic-based retrieval and a semantic-based retrieval can not support content-based retrieval. As a results, we expect to handle metadata more efficiently.

오늘날 과학기술 정보는 아주 다양한 곳에서 다양한 방식으로 생산 유통된다. 그러므로 원하는 정보의 위치나 각 정보 소스의 사용법을 모르는 사용자들은 일일이 정보 소스를 찾아 들어가 검색을 수행하여야 하는 번거로움이 있다. 본 논문에서는 사용자들에게 여러 곳에 위치한 과학기술 정보들을 한번에 검색하여 제공할 수 있는 과학기술 종합정보 시스템을 구현한다. 이를 위하여 KISTI와 (주)엔퀘스트에서 공동 개발한 분산통합검색 프로토콜을 사용한다. 사용된 분산통합 검색 프로토콜은 XML 기반으로 정의되어 있으며, 원천서버의 위치와 질의 형식 등에 관한 메타데이터를 유지하고 있어 분산된 서버들을 쉽게 통합검색에 참여 시킬 수 있다.

Video documents which have audio-visual and other semantics information have complex relationship among media. While user requests for topic retrieval or specific region retrieval increase, it is difficult to meet these requests with the existing design methodology, In order to support the systematic management and the various retrieval capabilities of video document, we must formulate structural and systematic model on metadata using semantics and structural informations which are abstracted automaticallv or manuallv. This paper suggests generic metadata model with which we analyze the characteristics of video document, supports various query types and serves as a generic framework for video applications, we propose the generic integrated management model(GIMM)for generic metadata,, design video documents management system(VDMS) and implement it using GIMM.

최근 인터넷과 네트워크 기술이 급격히 발전함에 따라 대용량의 동영상 데이터에 대한 서비스 요구가 급격히 증가하고 있으며, 인터넷 사용자는 비디오, 오디오, 텍스트 등으로 표현되는 다양한 멀티미디어 컨텐츠를 쉽게 이용할 수 있게 되었다. 이러한 환경에서 동영상 컨텐츠의 저장, 교환 및 검색에 있어서 보다 나은 편리성을 요구하게 되었고, 이것은 동영상 데이터의 다양한 정보를 기술하기 위한 메타데이터의 중요성을 더욱 증대시키게 되었다. 그러나 이러한 서비스들을 데이터 포맷 및 서비스 종류에 따라 각기 다른 표준을 사용하고 있어 업계간 또는 서비스간에 다르게 표현되는 메타데이터 정보들을 통합 관리하기는 어려운 실정이다. 따라서, 이 논문에서는 기존의 메타데이터 관리 시스템의 이점을 수용하고, 이를 확장하여 각각의 표준에 따라 서로 다르게 표현되는 동영상 메타데이터를 통합 관리하기 위한 시스템을 제안한다.

최근 인터넷의 발달에 따라 XML 문서의 사용과 각종 영상정보의 양이 크게 증가되었다. 이에 따라 XML 문서를 관리하기 위한 XML 데이터베이스의 필요성과 메타데이터 표준화에 대한 중요성이 증가되고 있다. XML 데이터베이스는 XML 문서의 특성을 고려하여 그 특성을 효율적으로 지원할 수 있다. 또한 국내에서는 교육정보분야 메타데이터 표준인 KEM 2.0이 제정 되었고 국외에서는 멀티미디어 데이터에 대한 표준으로 MPEG-7이 제정이 되었다. 이에 따라 본 논문에서는 MPEG-7을 기반으로 KEM 2.0을 이용한 영상정보 XML 스키마를 생성하고 이를 이용한 영상정보 검색시스템을 XML 데이터베이스 기반으로 설계하고자 한다. 본 논문에서 설계하는 XML 데이터베이스 기반의 영상정보 검색시스템은 XML 문서에 대한 빠른 저장과 검색이 가능할 것이다. 또한 검색 기능에 있어서는 키워드 기반의 의미기반 검색과 유사 이미지를 통한 내용기반 검색, 그리고 이를 내용기반과 의미기반을 통합한 검색 기능을 제공할 것이며 XML 문서에 대한 강력한 질의 수단인 XQuery 질의를 포함하게 될 것이다.

The need to support the ICT-using teaching and learning at elementary and secondary schools has led to various digital content service systems. The systems are designed to target the teachers and the students as the major users. The problems involved in them is that they do not provide such services as the integrated search and the systematic use of interface in terms of actual users' use of teaching and learning digital content. It's because they have been created at demands at each time. In an attempt to solve this problem, this study set out to suggest the integrated meta-data items of a teaching and learning digital content, which reflects the Dublin Core Education, the international meta-data standard. It also aimed to design an entity-relationship model to realize the digital content. The results of the integrated meta-data and the entity-relationship model will be utilized as a basic research to help the users to search for various teaching and learning digital contents on an integrated basis and to realize a consistent user interface. Furthermore, they are expected to contribute to the development a service system the teachers and the students can make better use of.

최근 기업들은 분산된 조직과 각 조직의 목적에 따라 데이터베이스도 분산되어 있기 때문에 이들 간의 공유 및 협업을 통한 상호 운용성을 지원하기 어려우므로 일관적인 형태로 연동하기 위해서 메타데이터 수준의 표준이 필요하다. 또한 협업적인 거래환경에서의 EAI시스템은 다양한 정보 시스템에서 관리되는 지식들을 유기적으로 통합하고 공유함으로서 효율적인 검색 및 비용절감 등 많은 효과를 기대할 수 있다. 그러나 기존의 시스템은 특정 목적에 따라 관리되고 공유되므로 사실상 통합 외 공유에는 상당한 어려움이 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서 제시하는 XMDR은 온톨로지와 메타데이터 결합된 형태로 각종 표준들을 일관적인 형태로 온톨로지와 시소러스 개념을 도입함으로서 데이터수준의 정보를 통합 하기위한 메타데이터 공유 및 정보 시스템 통합의 일관성을 유지 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서 제시되는 브리지 XMDR 검색시스템은 원시데이터 계층, XMDR 계층. 브리지 XMDR 계층으로 3계층으로 구성된다. XMDR 계층은 분산된 데이터베이스의 속성표현의 표준과 관계성을 정의한 표준 온톨로지, 카테고리 분류 온틀로지, 사이트의 정보를 제공하는 로케이션 온톨로지로 구성되는 XMDR을 정의한다. 브리지 XMDR 계층은 XMDR간의 정보를 공유하기 위한 공유 도메인 속성을 추출한 하이브리드 통합방식으로 업무간의 의미적 통합이 가능하다.

인터넷과 웹과 같은 정보사회의 교육환경 변화에 따른 교육정보의 교류 수요의 급속한 증가에 따라 교육정보 자료에 대한 메타데이터의 표준이 필요하게 되었다. 이에 따라 국내에서는 개별적으로 개발되고 있는 교육정보 자료를 통합적으로 공유, 재사용하기 위하여 KEM(Korea Education Metadata) Ver 2.0을 한국교육학술정보원에서 개발하였다. 또한 해외에서는 최근 급증하고 있는 멀티미디어 데이터의 적절한 표현을 위하여 MPEG-7 표준이 제정되었다. 본 논문에서는 다양한 형태의 교육정보 자료 중에서 교육정보 이미지에 대한 검색시스템을 설계하였다. 본 검색시스템의 설계는 한국교육학술정보원에서 개발된 KEM Ver 2.0을 수용하기 위하여 교육정보 이미지의 메타데이터 표현을 KEM Ver 2.0에서 제안된 메타 데이터 표현을 MEPG-7으로 확장한 XML 스키마를 사용하였다. KEM Ver 2.0 기반의 high-level 메타데이터와 MEPG-7 기반의 low-level 메타데이터를 이용함에 따라 국내에서 사용되는 교육정보 이미지의 상호교환 뿐 아니라 체계적이고 빠른 검색과 추출이 가능할 것이다.
