Design and Development of XML Document Management System for Cyber University (가상대학을 위한 XML문서관리시스템 설계)

  • Nowadays, according to the change of educational environment, an alternative educational system, called cyber university system, is appeared. The appearance of the new system requires the new executive supports for administrative purposes. From this point of view, this paper tries to design and develop an XML-based document management system for the cyber university system. In order to manage and present the multimedia documents for Cyber university effectively, the proposed document management system is divided into 3 hierarchy structures: Generation of Documents, Storage of Documentation, and Search of Documentation. Based on our proposal for the system, the actual implementation is done for the demonstrative purpose. Both the construction of document manage system for the cyber university and modules for portal page are implemented using XML.

Design of Digital Textbook Functions Based on the PATROL Instructional Model (PATROL 교수학습모형 기반의 디지털교과서 기능 설계)

  • The PATROL instructional model only uses digital textbooks. PATROL is an acronym for Planning, Action, Tracking, Recommending, Ordering, and Leading. Teachers have a difficult time using current digital textbooks to determine how much time students spend using course materials. This is because current digital textbooks can only show the content of paper textbooks and display additional multimedia materials. In this study, digital textbook functions were designed based on the PATROL model in order to analyze students' learning situations, diagnose problems, and offer solutions. Digital textbook are based on learning analytics named SEE-PAD. SEE-PAD is composed of the following: Social network analysis; Evaluation and assEssment analysis; Predictive analysis; Adaptive learning analysis; and the analysis Dashboard. I drew and showed the use case and sequence diagrams of SEE-PAD to help design digital textbook functions.

  • The goal of women's health education can be defined as improvement of the quality of their life during entire life cycle. In Korean society, women's well-being is very important to themselves as well as their families, communities. and country. Thus it is important to systematize information on women's health education. These systematized information can be used in preparation of coming 21st century called information era. Unfortunately there have been few studies in women's health education research in Korea especially distance education for women's health related with korean socio-cultural background, etc. Distance education has been internationally used in a variety of settings as a means of providing health education information. The objective of this study was to apply and evaluate a multimedia videoconferencing on women's health distance teaching-learning process. In this study I'd like to design multimedia digital educational material used in the distance teaching-learning process for women's health, and to practice a multimedia videoconferencing on women's health distance teaching-learning processs. The procedures of this study were summarized as follows ; 1. Analysis of subjects' characteristics and education contents and for women's health. 2. Design of a multimedia videoconferencing on women's health distance teaching-learning process. 3. Development of women's health distance teaching-1earning process. 4. Evaluation of developed digital multimedia and distance teaching-learning process related with women's health These results will be used in development of the distance-learning education program for improving Korean women's health. Findings su99est that the advanced methodologies for designing and evaluating the women's health distance teaching-learning programs be obtained through the collaboration with other field's staffs.

Study on User Legibility for Web-based Testing (웹 기반 평가를 위한 사용자 가독성에 관한 연구)

  • With development of computer engineering and the examination theories, new techniques to use computers in making or administrating examinations had been studied and developed. Recently, studies on web-based testing are in progress with development of Internet and information and communication technology. However, as compared with development of these technical aspects, studies on the user legibility to provide learners with comfortable environment for the evaluation have been insufficient in fact. In the web-based testing, user legibility decreases the anxiety of examinees in the examination and plays an important role in measuring their competence exactly. In this study, we tried to provide the optimum web-based evaluation interface by obtaining information through a questionnaire for primary-school students. We think that principles suggested in this study can give a great help in making the web-based evaluation screen in future. Besides, studies on more various fields including making individual questions, instructing sentences and layout of multimedia factors as well as the principles mentioned in this study should be performed.

  • The Web is evolving quantitatively into an explosive development. However, users usually have heavy burden of searching information because of the absence of contextual meaning on the Web. Due to an enormous amount of information, users have to endure for finding strong cohesive keywords by themselves and read each of the documents with enduring effort. This paper proposes an efficient method of searching more relative documents than current KEM-based searching systems on the Web by using contextual meaning. We designed a domain ontology on computer hardware, and a searching system which was searching those e-Learning objects. Owing to the Ontology-applied search system, information such as educational materials and related multimedia can be easily provided to the users. Further, learners could be informed of relationship of knowledge, e.g., class hierarchy, properties and values, and so on. The request results are semantically related to users' needs, and thus the system provides a learner-centered searching.

  • The web is expected to cause the lot of its utilizing as a means of computer instructed learning and recently the applying instance on the web is more increasing in the education. From educational perspectives. the web-based instruction is much superior to any other medium in the view of interaction and greater to the amount of transmitted information. The various learning contents of WBI program can make students feel more excited and interested in learning activities. Also the creative talent and application abilities of the learner are able to be developed by mixing various sorts of multimedia materials up such as moving pictures. graphics and sounds. In this study, a WBI courseware learning program for the problem solving was designed and Proposed on the base of the theory of constructivism for the subject of social science in the 6th grade of elementary school. The experimental results showed that the learning accomplishment of an experimental class was much better than that of an existent class.

A Novel Branch Method for Designing Educational Contents (교육용 컨텐츠 설계를 위한 새로운 분기방법)

  • In this paper, we propose a novel branch method which improve learning effects of the digital contents using a user-friendly access method by taking any conceptual object as the unit of interface. The conceptual objects may exist as a part of one or more contents pages, and we can access them to repeat, replay or return to the original branch point, that elevates the interactions of the digital contents. This method is useful for all kinds of digital contents, but it is especially effective to make educational contents in the field of science, engineering, and language courses because they contain various conceptual elements such as blocks of modeling, mathematical equations, and memorizing units. In addition, if we realize the blanch method proposed in this paper with the conventional page-branch or title-branch methods in the same contents, user interaction will be maximized and learning effects of the contents maybe beautifully improved.

The Effects of Instructional Multi-Media in Home Economics Education Perceived by Teachers. (멀티미디어 활용효과에 대한 가정과 교사의 인식)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of instructional multi-media in Home Economics Education perceived by teachers. The data for this research were attained from 139 middle & high school teachers of Home Economics. The data were analyzed by frequency of distribution, mean, stand deviation. t-test and analysis of variance, scheffe test with SPSSWin 7.5 program. The results of this study are as follows: The effects of instructional multi-media were composed of four dimensions in this study; need, frequency of use, pros and cons. 1. From these four dimensions, the need has the highest and the frequency of use has the lowest score. 2. The effects of instructional multi-media are significantly related to personal & environmental characteristics. 1)Need of the instructional multi-media effects is significantly different according to age, experience of computer education and possession of a computer at home. Low and high age groups are higher in the need of the instructional multi-media effects score than middle group age and the more experience of computer education and possession of a computer at home are higher in that score. 2) Frequency of use is significantly different according to LAN system in school. The higher score of frequency of use is in a LAN system’s school. 3) Pros of the instructional multi-media effects is significantly different according to the level of education, experience of computer education and the type of school. Undergraduate high school teachers and the lower o experience of computer education are higher in the pros of the instructional multi-media effects score. 4) Cons of the instructional multi-media effects is significantly different according to the level of education. Graduate teachers are higher in the cons of the instructional multi-media effects score.

  • Generally, Web Based Instruction has been deployed through whole studies, but the characteristic that is suit various WBI materials to a course of study is a important problem of instructional practice and it also has not to overlook. Therefore, Today's problem that is application of learning materials about the regional autonomy for Web Based Instruction, A plan that it can be solved in the social studies is propelling in this paper. Each of the whole country's region, the learning about the regional autonomy with centering around text, it is a text book, 'Social Investigation', that is developed specially is teaching until now, but developmental model of learning materials about the regional autonomy for Web Based Instruction is proposed by the efforts for improve this problem. Various learning materials about the regional autonomy for Web Based Instruction applied to learn our regional cultural life through the school homepage with based on this proposal. As a result of this study, By sloughing off old sensibility with centering around text, Student's Ability of self directed learning and solving problem is expanded with the dynamic multimedia regional Webpage's environment

  • This paper describes about a software implementation for class analysis and quantization based on our video synchronization method. We proposed a new indexing method, synchronization strategies, and data structure for our analyzer implementation. We implemented a class video analyzer using intelligent multimedia technologies which can play class video selectively. Our proposed method analyzes class videos depending on the time schedule composed of introduction, development and summary stages. We apply our analysis filters to the class videos in the predefined regular intervals. We experimented on the synchronization performance of our proposed method and software. In the experimental, we could demonstrate the effectiveness and practicality of our class analyzing method within the margin of error.
