Intelligent Prediction System for Diagnosis of Agricultural Photovoltaic Power Generation (영농형 태양광 발전의 진단을 위한 지능형 예측 시스템)

  • Agricultural Photovoltaic power generation is a new model that installs solar power generation facilities on top of farmland. Through this, it is possible to increase farm household income by producing crops and electricity at the same time. Recently, various attempts have been made to utilize agricultural solar power generation. Agricultural photovoltaic power generation has a disadvantage in that maintenance is relatively difficult because it is installed on a relatively high structure unlike conventional photovoltaic power generation. To solve these problems, intelligent and efficient operation and diagnostic functions are required. In this paper, we discuss the design and implementation of a prediction and diagnosis system to collect and store the power output of agricultural solar power generation facilities and implement an intelligent prediction model. The proposed system predicts the amount of power generation based on the amount of solar power generation and environmental sensor data, determines whether there is an abnormality in the facility, calculates the aging degree of the facility and provides it to the user.

On Method for LBS Multi-media Services using GML 3.0 (GML 3.0을 이용한 LBS 멀티미디어 서비스에 관한 연구)

  • SK Telecom has already constructed GIMS system as the base common framework of LBS/GIS service system based on OGC(OpenGIS Consortium)'s international standard for the first mobile vector map service in 2002, But as service content appears more complex, renovation has been needed to satisfy multi-purpose, multi-function and maximum efficiency as requirements have been increased. This research is for preparation ion of GML3-based platform to upgrade service from GML2 based GIMS system. And with this, it will be possible for variety of application services to provide location and geographic data easily and freely. In GML 3.0, it has been selected animation, event handling, resource for style mapping, topology specification for 3D and telematics services for mobile LBS multimedia service. And the schema and transfer protocol has been developed and organized to optimize data transfer to MS(Mobile Stat ion) Upgrade to GML 3.0-based GIMS system has provided innovative framework in the view of not only construction but also service which has been implemented and applied to previous research and system. Also GIMS channel interface has been implemented to simplify access to GIMS system, and service component of GIMS internals, WFS and WMS, has gotten enhanded and expanded function.

Usage and Analysis on Readability of Korean Typography in WBI for Children (효과적인 아동용 WBI를 위한 한글 타이포그래피의 가해성 분석과 활용)

  • Looking at multimedia education contents from a design point of view, the instructor's design model may differ from the child's understanding model due to gap of the instructor's and child's knowledge. This fact implies it impacts the effectiveness of the education contents. The learning efficiency of Korean typography in WBI for children depends on the font-family, line space, font-size, the age of user, the output device such as the monitor, and other various factors. In this paper, we measured and analyzed on readability of Korean typography in WBI for children by reading speed method. The results of experiments show that readability depends on the font-family of typography, age(grade), and sex of children. In detail, "Goolymche" has the shortest time to be read, and girl and the highest grade students of elementary school have shorter time than boy and the lower grade students. Moreover, we consider the elegance of typography in WBI for holding children's interests because they prefer "Yopseoche". We provide some CSSs in WBI for children based on the experimental results, to used in school fields.

  • There is a rapid increase in the use of digital video information in recent years, it becomes more important to manage video databases efficiently. The development of high speed data network and digital techniques has emerged new multimedia applications such as internet broadcasting, Video On Demand(VOD) combined with video data processing and computer. Video database should be construct for searching fast, efficient video be extract the accurate feature information of video with more massive and more complex characteristics. Video database are essential differences between video databases and traditional databases. These differences lead to interesting new issues in searching of video, data modeling. So, cause us to consider new generation method of database, efficient retrieval method of video. In this paper, We propose the construction and generation method of the video database based on contents which is able to accumulate the meaningful structure of video and the prior production information. And by the proposed the construction and generation method of the video database implemented the video database which can produce the new contents for the internet broadcasting centralized on the video database. For this production, We proposed the video indexing method which integrates the annotation-based retrieval and the content-based retrieval in order to extract and retrieval the feature information of the video data using the relationship between the meaningful structure and the prior production information on the process of the video parsing and extracting the representative key frame. We can improve the performance of the video contents retrieval, because the integrated video indexing method is using the content-based metadata type represented in the low level of video and the annotation-based metadata type impressed in the high level which is difficult to extract the feature information of the video at he same time.

  • The rapid growth of the mobile Internet has enabled its application area to expand, and its users want services that require more bandwidth for multimedia services. There are limits to support the various multimedia service to mobile station provided by existing mobile communications. The wireless MAN called the IEEE 802.16 Broadband Wireless Access systems which the IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN is similar to wireline Internet service being able to supper a various contents is used and is designed to consider a handoff is studying. Especially, TG(Task Group)e of IEEE 802.16 is in progress discussion to support a handoff to higher layer using BS(Base Station) or unit of sector, to UC. Yet a scheme is not detail. This thesis proposes the network model for IEEE 802.16e to support a soft handoff between BSs to use a mobile communication network called cdma2000 Ix EV-DO network. The proposed network model supports soft handoff to add a management skill in MA of each BS for MC(Mobility Controller). The proposed network model has merits that is able to apply existing systems as it is and that is able to use a various multimedia service, when using a wireless Internet.

Interactive Education of Introductory Engineering via Multimedia (멀티미디어를 이용한 인터액티브 공학개론 교육)

  • We introduce an introductory engineering education course for engineering majors and non-engineering majors. This course does not require any previous knowledge and experience on engineering. It requires strong curiosities and imaginations on current and future society we live in, where technology is inseparable ingredient. Course encourages attendees to explore fundamental issues of engineering: what is proper technology and what are proper ways of exercising engineering, issues dealt in soft engineering. Since course topics cover many aspects of technology, traditional learning methods fail to be successful and efficient. Various efficient learning methods have been proposed and implemented. We utilize various interactive tangible media, which include simulated thought experiments and physical media experiences. About twenty (20) episodes in short film format are produced based on scenario written according to related issues selected. Physical media like interactive robots are introduced for attendees' stimulated experiences. We summarize our exciting experiments on interactive teaching experiences at Pusan National University which include on/off-line interactions, assignments, projects, and evaluations.

  • 디지털방송이 시작되면서 고품질의 A/V(비디오/오디오)프로그램과 다양한 멀티미디어 컨텐츠를 제공하는 데이터방송을 처리하기 위한 수신 장치의 비중이 커지고 있다 이와 관련하여 데이터방송 환경에서 새로운 기술과 서비스가 등장할 때마다 이를 수용할 수 있는 소프트웨어를 탑재한 새로운 수신 장치가 필요하다. 일반적으로 한번 가정 내에 보급된 디지털 수신 장치의 소프트웨어 업그레이드가 용이하지 않기 때문에, 방송을 통해 이를 실현한다. 본 논문은 TV 셋탑박스 (STB) 내에 상주하는 middleware native application software 를 방송으로 다운받아 수정하는 기능을 지닌 STB 의 구현에 대해서 기술한다. 소프트웨어 업데이트 시스템은 소프트웨어를 포함하는 데이터 카루셀 스트림을 다운받아 파싱하는 다운로더, 추출된 소프트웨어를 설치하는 업데이트 로더, 그리고 예치상황이 발생하면 셋탑박스가 새로 부팅될 때, 로그 파일을 이용하여 소프트웨어를 옛날 상태의 회복시켜주는 리커버러 (recoverer)로 구성되어 있다. 다운로더는 지상파 디지털 방송 규격인 ATSC 규약에 맞게 구현하고, ATSC용 STB환경에서 테스트하고 있다.

Content-based Music Information Retrieval using Pitch Histogram (Pitch 히스토그램을 이용한 내용기반 음악 정보 검색)

  • In this paper, we proposed the content-based music information retrieval technique using some MPEG-7 low-level descriptors. Especially, pitch information and timbral features can be applied in music genre classification, music retrieval, or QBH(Query By Humming) because these can be modeling the stochasticpattern or timbral information of music signal. In this work, we restricted the music domain as O.S.T of movie or soap opera to apply broadcasting system. That is, the user can retrievalthe information of the unknown music using only an audio clip with a few seconds extracted from video content when background music sound greeted user's ear. We proposed the audio feature set organized by MPEG-7 descriptors and distance function by vector distance or ratio computation. Thus, we observed that the feature set organized by pitch information is superior to timbral spectral feature set and IFCR(Intra-Feature Component Ratio) is better than ED(Euclidean Distance) as a vector distance function.   • Digital assets denote multimedia information that exists in the form of digitized materials such as images, audio, and video. The management of digital assets demands much effort because of a huge amount of storage space requirement and multidimensional characteristics of the information needed to describe their contents. In this paper, we design and implement a Digital Asset Manager that stores and manages digital assets efficiently. Among the various types of digital assets, we focus on the video asset which has the highest complexity. Our Digital Asset Manager provides various facilities for digital contents authoring applications. In the Digital Asset Manager, video assets are managed by using a hierarchical model in order to ensure efficient accesses to any part of a video asset. Our system also guarantees the independence from the storage platform, and provides a fast content-based similarity search method on the digital assets.

Digital Image Watermarking using Subband Correlation Wavelet Domain (웨이블릿 영역의 부대역 상관도를 이용한 디지털 영상 워터마킹)

  • The watermarking is the technique that embeds or extracts the certain data without the change of the original data for the copyright protection of the multimedia contents. Watermark-embedded contents must not be distinguished by human's eye and must be robust to the various image processing and the intentional distortions. In this paper, we propose a new watermarking technique applied in the wavelet domain which has both the spatial and frequency information of a image. For both the robustness and the invisibility, the positions for embedding the watermark is selected with the multi-threshold. We search the similarity between highly correlated coefficients in the each subband and decide the mark space after verifying the significance in the specified subband. The similarity is represented by the coefficient difference between the subbands and its distribution is used in the watermark embedding and extracting. The embedded watermark can be extracted without the original image using the relationship of the subbands. By these properties the proposed watermarking algorithm has the invisibility and the robustness to the attacks such as JPEG compression and the general image processing.
