The Superintendent Office (Gamriseo) at the Open Ports in Joseon Dynasty of Korea and Related Records: Focused on the Busan Port (조선 개항장의 감리서(監理署)와 기록 - 부산항을 중심으로 -)

  • The Treaty of Friendship, Commerce and Navigation between the Joseon Dynasty and Japan began signing procedures from February 1876. Thus, Busan port became an open port to foreign vessels. This has resulted in Busan port becoming the greatest port in Korea. Because of this, the Superintendent Office (Gamriseo, 監理署) was established at 1883 but was later abolished in 1906. In this thesis, the author explored the opening procedure of Busan Port as an open port, the structure of the positions in the Superintendent Office, and the establishment and abolition, types, and contents of records of Gamriseo that were created or received. Records of the Superintendent Office were classified into diplomatic records, judge records, police records, customs records, administrative records, and the daily records of the institution. Most of the original documents of the Superintendent Office were preserved at the Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies while some were published by the National Institute of Korean History and Asiatic Research Institute of Korea University.

The Sexual Experiences of the Mentally Disabled based on the Grounded Theory (정신장애인의 성경험에 대한 근거이론적 접근)

  • This study attempts to suggest a theoretical basic frame that is needed for nursing intervention regarding the sexual experiences of the mentally disabled. The data were collected through a series of interviews with 14 participants. With permission of the mentally disabled, the interviews were recorded and transcribed. The data were analyzed using the framework of grounded theory mapped out by Strauss & Corbin(1998). The following 3 theories were confirmed on the basis of repetitive relations: becoming nest type, exercising self-restraint type, getting tangled type. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a realistic sex education that is relevant to hospital, community mental health center, and culture. The nurse is required to activily participate in educating the mentally disabled with a diverse approach to instill and nurture the sober perspective about sex such as the pleasure, life, intimacy based on sexual equality.

Rethinking Knowledge Base of Social Work Practice (사회복지 실천의 지식기반과 학문적 특성에 관한 연구)

  • As one of the essential elements of social work practice, knowledge articulates what the social work profession is doing and ought to do. With an emphasis on building a body of knowledge for the profession, this study analyses the nature of social work knowledge. First, the study examines concepts of social work theories and models, which are built around separate clusters of concepts from a broad base of theoretical orientation. The study reviews epistemological and ideological debates over how to perceive and approach social issues and the role of the social work profession. In organizing a clear conceptual framework for social work practice, different frames of reference and selective and fragmentary knowledge from other disciplines are considered barriers. For the development of a clear identity as a unified profession and the prospects of a value-based profession, more attention needs to be given to specify practical knowledge that is contextual and appropriate to practice settings and more sensitive to social issues.

  • The purpose of this paper is to explore the scope of realization of multiple perspectives so that the implementation of the right to be forgotten is more realistic than the ideal information deletion concept. We examined domestic and foreign legal system and technology/service trends, and reflected the classification realization level of service realization, processing type and information characteristics of personal information processor, and legislative/technical factors for multi-level scope analysis. As a result, we have presented a matrix of the range of realization of the right to be forgotten and the scope of diversified regulation by the subject of protection. This study will be extended to the convergence of law and engineering, and will contribute to the prediction of social costs and expansion of the market by identifying the scope of 'deletion rights'.

  • In terms of archiving. an importance of the Web is more increasing. Since the Internet has been popularized. many archivists have made efforts to preserve informational. cultural. and evidential values of the Web. Information resources on the Web raise archival issues that are significantly different from issues of preservation for tangible materials, because they are based on unique characteristics of the Web. One of issues is about a technical aspect which is based on technical architecture of Web. Another important issue is related to legal problems including copyright, authenticity and so on. In this context. it is essential to understand technical and legal characteristics of the Web. A purpose of this article is to review technical and legal aspects of Web archiving and to find an agenda for development of Web archiving.

The Characteristics and Use of Moon Ik-Hwan's Prison Letters (문익환 옥중서신의 특성과 활용)

  • Moon Ik-hwan's prison letters are valuable historical materials managed by the Moon Ik-hwan House of Unification, reflecting an aspect of modern and contemporary South Korea. He wrote these prison letters during a period of approximately 11 years and three months. Today about 800 of them remain and are in an urgent need for measures to ensure their long-term preservation and Use. This study set out to introduce their current state that had been made to the public only in fragments, analyze their characteristics as objects of records management, and propose directions and strategies to provide them as part of online service. For these purposes, the investigator analyzed Moon's personal life and life in prison as the backgrounds of their creation and examined their unique characteristics as prison letters according to the scope and size, recipients, reproduction and circulation process, and the medium of lettercards. Based on these efforts, the study shed new light on the significance of use in private archives and provided a case of online utilization tasks and strategies based on the characteristics of letters as one of the representative types of personal records.

An Analysis of Pre-service Teachers' Pedagogical Content Knowledge about Story Problem for Division of Fractions (분수 나눗셈 스토리 문제 만들기에 관한 예비교사 지식 조사 연구)

  • This study examined pre-service teachers' pedagogical content knowledge of fraction division in a context where they were asked to write a story problem for a symbolic expression illustrating a whole number divided by a proper fraction. Problem-posing is an important instructional strategy with the potential to create meaningful contexts for learning mathematical concepts, especially when real-world applications are intended. In this study, story problems written by 135 elementary pre-service teachers were analyzed with respect to mathematical correctness. error types, and division models. Patterns and tendencies in elementary pre-service teachers' knowledge of fraction division were identified. Implicaitons for teaching and teacher education are discussed.

Understanding aspects of folktale combinations based on the concept of the narrative scheme (서사도식을 통한 설화 결합 양상 이해)

  • There are different variations in folktales. Sometimes folkltales are combined with another folktales. This is probably done to make it an object-oriented narrative in which an epic attempt is made to strengthen an issue that was not resolved earlier, or a context that was not completed. The wood cutter and the heavenly maiden and Snail bride, are commonly noted for their gender relationship. These tales represent issue of continuing relationships between men and women. Particulary, how in the process of doing so, they succumb to their desires. This striving for lasting relationships does not end happily because "the man" in each case was immature and not able to think clearly. Other folktales were combined with these tales to resolve this problem. The man was transformed into a mature person and the wrongdoer's excessive greed was punished. The narrative of the folktales was changed to bring out the epic of growth, or the epic of punishment. This can be understood through the concept of narrative scheme. Folktale combinations in narrative schemes can be used effectively in narrative education.

A Study of Guidelines Development on Digital Textbooks for Students with Disabilities applying Universal Design for Learning (보편적 학습설계를 적용한 장애학생 디지털교과서 제작 지침 개발 연구)

  • The Korean ministry of education has adopted an educational policy about digital textbooks at K-12 schools since 2018, in order to provide students with individualized learning contents and activities. However, digital textbooks has been yet prepared and delivered for the students with disabilities in the inclusive education. This study aims to develop the guidelines on digital textbooks for students with disabilities applying universal design for learning, recognizing the requirements for the digital textbooks which can be utilized in the K-12 inclusive classrooms for diverse students. In this respect, guidelines on digital textbooks were developed based on previous studies and cases. The first draft of guidelines were reviewed with two rounds of the delphi methods with special teachers. In addition, scenarios were developed, representing the rich educational contexts with digital textbooks applying the guidelines in a practical way for students with 4 types of disabilities. This study can contribute to establishing educational policies and environments related to the digital textbook development and dissemination for students with disabilities.
