Wrinkling is a common phenomenon in nature and the shape of a wrinkle can be defined using characteristic dimensions such as pitch, length, amplitude, and density etc. Wrinkle structure can be utilized in various research fields, and especially it has special characteristics when it used in applications of heat transfer; a wrinkly surface has the effect to promote turbulent flow and increasing surface area. However, the generation of wrinkle structures in somewhat regular is not easy. Till now, there are some research works focused on realization of wrinkles in micro scale. However, most of the processes generally requires high precision equipments and high costs, and also there is a limitation to generate the wrinkles in a large area. In this study, we propose a novel method named as a RCO (repetitive contact-and-open) process to fabricate wrinkle structure with low cost and relative easy way. Using the RCO, we fabricated micro-corrugate structures successfully. From the experimental results, we found out the process parameters of RCO, and showed the possibility of RCO to be used in real applications.

In this study, Insertion loss according to the structural variant of interposer to Through Silicon Via (TSV) and Redistributed Layer (RDL) was studied through design of experiment. 3-Factors was considered as a variant, TSV depth, TSV diameter, RDL width with factor arrangement method and the response surface method from 400 MHz to 20 GHz. As a result, it was confirmed that as the frequency increased, the effect of RDL width was decreased and the effect of TSV depth and TSV diameter was increased. Also within the analysis range, to increasing RDL width, decreasing TSV depth, and fixing TSV diameter about 10.7 ㎛ was observed optimal result of Insertion loss.
In this study, conventional solvent extraction (CSE), microwave-assisted extraction (MAE), and ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) were compared for the recovery of paclitaxel from biomass. As a result of investigating the effect of the extraction solvent type (acetone, chloroform, ethanol, methanol, methylene chloride), methanol was the most suitable for all extraction methods. In the case of MAE and UAE using methanol, most of the paclitaxel (> 95%) was recovered by only one extraction. The recovery rate of paclitaxel increased with the increase of extraction temperature (25-45 ℃), microwave power (50-150 W), and ultrasonic power (180-380 W) for MAE and UAE. In addition, SEM analysis showed that the biomass surface structure was slightly corrugated in CSE, while in the MAE and UAE, it was very rough and destroyed by strong impact.
Dielectric heating materials were prepared through the thermal treatment for composites of Li and Zn type precursors that are major materials being responded to microwave under diversified conditions. The prepared heating material samples were analyzed by SEM and it was confirmed that $Li_5Fe_5O_8$ materials being formed on the surface was a major influencing factor for the heating performance. Heating materials improved the moisture removal in a sludge drying facility, for example, the moisture content of 25 v/v% sludge decreased to 15.22 v/v%. Accordingly, heating materials were confirmed to directly affect the performance and efficiency of the microwave drying process.
Recently many studies to reduce the noise of dental hand piece which generate inevitably mechanical sound to offend to the ear of a patient have been spotlighted. Generally, methods of adding a sound absorbing material inside the exhaust valve, air pump of machine or automobile are widely reported as optimal way to reduce the mechanical noise. In this paper we studied a new UV laser aided manufacturing of micro-porous structure of EPP substrate and applied dental hand piece to improve the efficiency of sound absorption. A lot of micro-sized pores were fabricated with UV laser processing on the surface of sliced EPP substrate. From fundamental experiments, more high-performance of micro-porous EPP substrate has finally demonstrated for sound-absorbing structure of the micro muffler inside dental hand piece, which actually has the excellent potential to apply a lot of potable machine.

In this study, $Al_xTa_{1-x}$(x=0.0∼1.0) alloy thin films were grown by RF-Magnetron sputtering system, and the structural, mechanical and electrical properties of samples were examined by 4-point probe, XRD, AFM and micro-Vickers hardness profiler. The electrical resistivity was maximum and the crystal quality was optimum for the samples with Al content x=0.245 (Al 24.5 at.%). Regarding the surface hillock formation, the hillock density decreased with an increase of Al content for the low Al content range, and the hillock was eliminated for the sample with Al=24.5 at.%. The hillock density increased with the further increase of Al content. The high values of micro-Vickers hardness were obtained for the samples with x=0.2∼0.45. The results obtained demonstrate that the crystal quality, electrical resistivity, surface morphology and micro-hardness are closely inter-related, and that the optimum physical properties are obtained for the sample with x=0.245.

This research was performed to investigate the mechanical performance of lightweight concrete including phase changing material(Low temperature PCM). Micro capsulised PCM consisted of wax type core and melamine based wall. Also, for PCM of one single kind, paraffin wax was inserted into Vermiculite and the surface was coated with melamine resin. Interfacial polymerization is based on the principle that macromolecule reaction takes place on the surfaces between 1-dodecanol(core material) and water (solvent) to form the wall material. Lightweight concrete has compressive strength of 10 MPa, tensile strength of 1.5 MPa, and oven dried density of 1.0kg/liter which included 10%, 20%, or 30% PCM by weight. To do so, this study fabricated light-weight foamed concrete ($1.0kg/m^3$) in pre-foaming method and mixed it with PCM micro capsule of 1-dodecanol and melamine to examine its physical properties.
A straightforward, yet effective surface modification method of stainless steel mesh and its interesting anti-wetting characteristics are reported in this study. The stainless steel mesh is electrochemically etched, and the specimen has both micro and nano-scale structures on its surface. This process transforms the two types of mesh specimens known as the regular and dense specimens into hydrophobic specimens without applying any hydrophobic chemical coating process. The fundamental wettability of the modified mesh is analyzed through a dedicatedly designed experiment to investigate the waterproof characteristics, for instance, the penetration threshold. The waterproof characteristics are evaluated in a manner that the modified mesh resists as high as approximately 2.7 times the pressure compared with the bare mesh, i.e., the non-modified mesh. The results show that the penetration threshold depends primarily on the advancing contact angles, and the penetration stop behaviors are affected by the contact angle hysteresis on the surfaces. The findings further confirm that the inexpensive waterproof meshes created using the proposed straightforward electrochemical etching process are effective and can be adapted along with appropriate designs for various practical applications, such as underwater devices, passive valves, and transducers. In general, , additional chemical coatings are applied using hydrophobic materials on the surfaces for the applications that require water-repelling capabilities. Although these chemical coatings can often cause aging, the process proposed in this study is not only cost-effective, but also durable implying that it does not lose its waterproof properties over time.

In this study, graphene layer was grown on metal microwire using chemical vapor deposition. The difference of carbon solubility between copper and nickel resulted in the formation of mono-layer and multi-layer graphene were formed on the surfaces of copper and nickel microwires, respectively. During the growth of graphene at high temperature, copper and nickel were recrytallized and the grain size increased. The ampacity of graphene/copper microwire was improved by approximately 27%, 1.91×105 A/㎠, compared to pristine copper microwire. Similar to this behavior, the ampacity of multilayer graphene/nickel microwire was 4.41×104 A/㎠ which is about about 36% improved compared to the pure nickel microwire. The excellent electrical properties of graphene/metal composites are beneficial for supplying the electrical energy to the high-power electronic devices and equipment.

In this study, an optical PCB was proposed which can overcome the limitations of the conventional PCB, and a new structure with pluggable lens was considered for a high-efficient passive alignment. The structure was a lens-added optical waveguide for the improvement of misalignment between the lens and the waveguide in the alignment. Also, as it had a barrier-type structure to prevent the surface damage of the lens by desorption, the high-efficient passive alignment can be realized. The structure was designed by optimizing the simulation and the fabrication process of the pluggable lens structure was conducted using the repetitive photolithography and the thermal reflow. The optical waveguide with the lens-integrated pluggable interconnection was fabricated by the imprint process using the polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS) replica mold. Therefore, we confirmed the possibility of pluggable lens-added optical waveguide structure fabrication for high-efficient passive alignment.
