• [ $F_0$ ]-values of the canned tuna in cottonseed oil (CTCO) were investigated under different sterilizing conditions to optimize the energy consumption and microbiological safety. The $F_0$-values were measured using a microcomputer based technique. The exact cold point was not the volumetric center of the cans, and it was located in the center of meat mass in can which had ca. $6\%$ of head space. Location of the test cans in retort showed no remarkable influence on the $F_0$-values when the cans were jumble loaded. The process time before sterilization should be shortened as much as possible to prevent the contamination of microorganisms. Thermophilic spore forming bacteria found from raw and precooked tuna were Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus cereus and Bacillus pasteurii, and the most heat resistant was Bacillus subtilis. The rational $F_0$-value for the CTCO obtained from the preservation test was regarded as 6min.

  • According to increase of nonlinear power electronics equipment, active power filters have been researched and developed for many years to compensate harmonic disturbances and reactive power. However the commercial of active power filter is being proceeded slowly, because the cost of active power filter compared to the passive filter for harmonic and reactive power compensation is expensive. Especially, the use of DSP (Digital Signal Processing) chip, which is frequently used to control 3-phase active power filter, is a factor of increasing the cost of active power filters. On the other hand, the use of only analog controller makes the controller's circuits much more complicate and depreciates the flexibilities of controller. In this paper, a controller with low cost for 5[kVA] 3-phase active power filter system is designed. To reduce the expense of active filter system, the presented controller is composed of digital control part using Intel 80C196KC $\mu$P and analog control part using hysteresis controller for current control. Characteristic analysis of designed controller for active filter system is performed by computer simulation and compensating characteristics of the designed controller are verified by experiment.tegy can apply to the vector control, leading to better output torque capability in the ac motor drive system. This strategy is that in the overmodulation range, the d-axis output current is given a priority to regulate the flux well, instead the q-axis output curent is sacrificed. Therefore, the vector control even in the overmodulation PWM operation can be achieved well. For this purpose, the d-axis output voltage of a current controller to control the flux is conserved. the q-axis output voltage to control the torque is controlled to place the reference voltage vector on the hexagon boundary in case of the overmodulation. The validity of the proposed overall scheme is confirmed by simulation and experiments for a 22[kW] induction motor drive system.

  • In the cloud computing environment, cloud service users purchase and use the virtualized resources from cloud resource providers on a pay as you go manner. Typically, there are two billing plans for computing resource allocation adopted by large cloud resource providers such as Amazon, Gogrid, and Microsoft, on-demand and reserved plans. Reserved Virtual Machine(VM) instance is provided to users based on the lengthy allocation with the cheaper price than the one of on-demand VM instance which is based on shortly allocation. With the proper mixture allocation of reserved and on-demand VM corresponding to users' requests, cloud service providers are able to reduce the resource allocation cost. To do this, prior researches about VM allocation scheme have been focused on the optimization approach with the users' request prediction techniques. However, it is difficult to predict the expected demands exactly because there are various cloud service users and the their request patterns are heavily fluctuated in reality. Moreover, the previous optimization processing techniques might require unacceptable huge time so it is hard to apply them to the current cloud computing system. In this paper, we propose the cloud brokering system with the adaptive VM allocation schemes called A3R(Adaptive 3 Resource allocation schemes) that do not need any optimization processes and kinds of prediction techniques. By using A3R, the VM instances are allocated to users in response to their service demands adaptively. We demonstrate that our proposed schemes are able to reduce the resource use cost significantly while maintaining the acceptable Quality of Service(QoS) of cloud service users through the evaluation results.

  • Visualization of documents will help users when they do search similar documents. and all research in information retrieval addresses itself to the problem of a user with an information need facing a data source containing an acceptable solution to that need. In various contexts. adequate solutions to this problem have included alphabetized cubbyholes housing papyrus rolls. microfilm registers. card catalogs and inverted files coded onto discs. Many information retrieval systems rely on the use of a document surrogate. Though they might be surprise to discover it. nearly every information seeker uses an array of document surrogates. Summaries. tables of contents. abstracts. reviews, and MARC recordsthese are all document surrogates. That is, they stand infor a document allowing a user to make some decision regarding it. whether to retrieve a book from the stacks, whether to read an entire article, etc. In this paper another type of document surrogate is investigated using a grouping method of term list. lising Multidimensional Scaling Method (MDS) those surrogates are visualized on two-dimensional graph. The distances between dots on the two-dimensional graph can be represented as the similarity of the documents. More close the distance. more similar the documents.

  • We are at the onset of a major revolution in education, a revolution unparalleled since the invention of the printing press. The computer will be the instrument of this revolution. Computers and computer application are everywhere these days. Everyone can't avoid the influence of the computer in today's world. The computer is no longer a magical, unfamiliar tool that is used only by researchers or scholars or scientists. The computer helps us do our jobs and even routine tasks more effectively and efficiently. More importantly, it gives us power never before available to solve complex problems. Mathematics instruction in secondary schools is frequently perceived to be more a amendable to the use of computers than are other areas of the school curriculum. This is based on the perception of mathematics as a subject with clearly defined objectives and outcomes that can be reliably measured by devices readily at hand or easily constructed by teachers or researchers. Because of this reason, the first large-scale computerized curriculum projects were in mathematics, and the first educational computer games were mathematics games. And now, the entire mathematics curriculum appears to be the first of the traditional school curriculum areas to be undergoing substantial trasformation because of computers. Recently, many research-Institutes of our country are going to study on computers in orders to use it in mathematics education, but the study is still start ing-step. In order to keep abreast of this trend necessity, and to enhance mathematics teaching/learning which is instructed lecture-based teaching/learning at the present time, this study aims to develop/present practical method of computer-using. This is devided into three methods. 1. Programming teaching/learning method This part is presented the following five types which can teach/learn the mathematical concepts and principle through concise program. (Type 1) Complete a program. (Type 2) Know the given program's content and predict the output. (Type 3) Write a program of the given flow-chart and solve the problem. (Type 4) Make an inference from an error message, find errors and correct them. (Type 5) Investigate complex mathematical fact through program and annotate a program. 2. Problem-solving teaching/learning method solving This part is illustrated how a computer can be used as a tool to help students solve realistic mathematical problems while simultaneously reinforcing their understanding of problem-solving processes. Here, four different problems are presented. For each problem, a four-stage problem-solving model of polya is given: Problem statement, Problem analysis, Computer program, and Looking back/Looking ahead. 3. CAI program teaching/learning method This part is developed/presented courseware of sine theorem section (Mathematics I for high school) in order to avail individualized learning or interactive learning with teacher. • Kinect depth sensor, a depth camera developed by Microsoft as a natural user interface for game appeared as a very useful tool in computer vision field. In this paper, due to kinect's depth sensor and its high frame rate, we developed a distance measurement system using Kinect camera to test it for unmanned vehicles which need vision systems to perceive the surrounding environment like human do in order to detect objects in their path. Therefore, kinect depth sensor is used to detect objects in its field of view and enhance the distance measurement system from objects to the vision sensor. Detected object is identified in accuracy way to determine if it is a real object or a pixel nose to reduce the processing time by ignoring pixels which are not a part of a real object. Using depth segmentation techniques along with Open CV library for image processing, we can identify present objects within Kinect camera's field of view and measure the distance from them to the sensor. Tests show promising results that this system can be used as well for autonomous vehicles equipped with low-cost range sensor, Kinect camera, for further processing depending on the application type when they reach a certain distance far from detected objects.

  • Fine particulate matter known as PM 2.5 refers to the atmospheric particulate matter that has a diameter less than 2.5 micrometer identified as dangerous element for human health and its concentration can provide us a clear picture about air dust concentration. Humans stay indoor almost 90% of their life time and also there is no official indoor dust concentration data, so our study is focused on measuring the indoor air quality. Indoor dust data monitoring is very important in hospital environments beside that other places can also be considered for monitoring like classrooms, cements factories, computer server rooms, petrochemical storage etc. In this paper, visible light communication system is proposed by Manchester encoding technique for electromagnetic interference (EMI)-free indoor dust monitoring. Important indoor environment information like dust concentration is transferred by visible light channel in wide range. An average voltage-tracking technique is utilized for robust light detection to eliminate ambient light and low-frequency noise. The incoming light is recognized by a photo diode and are simultaneously processed by a receiver micro-controller. We can monitor indoor air quality in real-time and can take necessary action according to the result.

  • Caries remains prevalent throughout modern society and is the main disease in the field of dentistry. Although studies of this disease have used diverse methodology, recently, X-ray microtomography has gained popularity as a non-destructive, 3-dimensional (3D) analytical technique, and has several advantages over the conventional methods. According to X-ray source, it is classified as monochromatic or polychromatic with the latter being more widely used due to the high cost of the monochromatic source despite some advantages. The determination of mineral density profiles based on changes in X-ray attenuation is the principle of this method and calibration and image processing procedures are needed for the better image and reproducible measurements. Using this tool, 3D reconstruction is also possible and it enables to visualize the internal structures of dental caries. With the advances in the computer technology, more diverse applications are being studied, such automated caries assessment algorithms.
