A Study on Effective Deployment Method of Lean Six Sigma Actions for Management Innovation (경영혁신을 위한 린 6시그마 활동의 효과적인 전개방법에 관한 연구)

  • Lean six sigma has to be utilized considering irrational system or defects based on features of organization beforehand. Otherwise, it won't improve anything but burden another heavy responsibilities to the people in charge. Therefore, a survey was conducted in addition to a literature review and a case study about lean six sigma to verify effective deployment method for lean 6sigma tools. The survey was conducted across for 96 interviewees who have MBB or BB was selected from 15 companies which have been running six sigma projects over 10 years and SPSS 16.0 was used for verifying reliability and validity of the research. In conclusion, some issues occurred in the process of six sigma projects were identified and effective deployment method of lean six sigma tools by integrating lean manufacturing into 6sigma were suggested based on those issues.

  • Six Sigma keeps its continuous change in terms of its strategies and methodologies for 20 years since it is introduced in the industry Developing innovative business management strategies creating a higher synergy effect has been Pursued by combining Six Sigma and different business strategies. In fact, various research studies have been performed for grafting lean production theory with Six Sigma concept. Specifically, the companies which obtained positive results from the applications of Six Sigma are trying to adopt Lean Six Sigma theory for their business strategies. However, the research studies or the applications of Lean Six Sigma are insufficient in the construction industry compared to the other industries such as manufacturing. In order to deal effectively with this issue, this research study suggests the improved and restructured Six Sigma DMAIC processes by embodying the existing Six Sigma DMAIC processes applied on construction projects and improving them through the improvement territories of Lean Six Sigma studied in advance.

  • SW 기술이 급변하는 현 시점에서는 SW 관리의 중요성이 인식되어 SW 품질향상을 위한 제도 개선의 일안으로 SW 개발 산출물에 대한 SW 신뢰성 시험이 요구되고 있으나, SW 신뢰성 시험에 투입되는 비용, 시간적 제약 및 휴먼에러 등으로 인해 SW 시험요구조건을 충족하는데 어려움이 있다. 본 논문에서는 문제 해결 도구로써 린6시그마 방법론을 활용하여 SW 신뢰성시험시간을 단축하고 인적오류를 감소할 수 있는 방안을 제안한다.

  • 생산성 및 품질혁신을 위하여 Lean 6시그마에 대한 다양한 국외 적용사례는 존재하나, 고도의 하이테크 산업이며 품질을 최우선으로 삼는 항공산업에 적용 및 평가에 대한 국내 연구사례는 거의 전무한 것이 현실이다. 본 연구에서는 린 6시그마 기법이나 사상들이 국내 항공산업 프로세스의 생산성 및 품질을 향상시키는데 과연 적합한지 판단하여, 현장적용을 사례로 적용 방법론을 제안하는데 목적이 있다.

  • It is urgently requested to innovate the management process of business-service areas in all industry such as financial business, services and manufacturing because of recent business trend - de-manufacturing trend and the weight increment of service in all industries. Many enterprises introduce various management - innovation methodologies in order to meet the rapidly changing business environment. Especially in Korea, it is a vogue to introduce the innovation methodology of the advanced company's. According to this style, the six sigma has been introduced over 10 years since late 1990's and it has become a synonym of innovation indeed. But the result of six sigma introduction has not reached to the level of expectation in its beginning. And the "Lean" have been introduced in Korea in the situation of global financial crisis, economic slump and the pursuit of developing country such as China. Many Korea companies pay attention to the "Lean" innovation activity because the TPS(Toyota Production System) is the matrix of Lean and is the motive power of Toyota growth. In this study, it was analyzed for the evolution course, distinctive features and effects of Lean management and was examined for the difference of Lean management between manufacturing industry and business-service areas. From this results, the characteristics of Lean management in business-service was analyzed. After survey of innovation agent in Korea company, the Lean model of business-service Industry was developed and applied. This study will be worthy to show the right direction to the enterprises which are to apply lean methodologies, or the enterprises which examine lean management for competitive advantages or the peoples who research the same topics.

  • Recently there has been huge efforts to improve performance in construction process by applying emerging techniques such as the Lean principle, Just-in-time concept and so on. However, little achievement as we expected has come out in reality due to the lack of strategy to set a definite goal of the execution and differences of personal viewpoints on construction productivity. Accordingly, it is the most important to promote the circumstances for the construction process improvement by quantifying the goals of respective unit activity groups. This research explores feasible solutions for the improvement of construction projects performance by combining the six-sigma principle for the generic administrative innovation based on the idea of construction process performance. For this purpose, mutual comparisons of various current approaches are performed in an attempt to establish the advantages in applying six-sigma idea and to provide its fundamental strategy. Furthermore, through a case study with the simulation of applying six-sigma to a unit activity group in construction process, this paper verifies that the overall performance improves as the degree of sigma level gets advanced.

  • System is the organization of hardware, software, personnel and facilities needed to perform a designated function within a stated environment with specified results. The trend of modern systems is getting more complex and larger. The system is necessary for modern society but the minor malfunction of the system can result the enormous human and material losses. Recently it is being heightened the concern for system safety and required to be built and applied Safety Engineering standard Guideline for safety of complex and large-sized system. This paper describes the System Engineering Process model integrated with Safety Engineering and the establishment of standard safety guidelines for safety of product development using DMADOV Methodology of the Lean 6 Sigma.

  • Six sigma is focused on quality improvement through variation reduction, while lean is on process flow improvement and lead time reduction by waste elimination. However, lean cannot bring a process under statistical control and six sigma alone cannot dramatically improve process speed. Lean six sigma was developed to achieve faster rate of improvement in customer satisfaction, cost, quality, process speed, and invested capital. In this paper we present the importance of using value stream mapping and suggest a guideline on how to integrate lean and six sigma by is proposed.
