Design & Implementation of Flight Software Satellite Simulator based on Parallel Processing (병렬처리 기반의 위성 탑재소프트웨어 시뮬레이터 설계 및 개발)

  • The software-based satellite simulator has been developed from the start of the project to resolve the restriction and limitation of using hardware-based software development platform. It enables the development of flight software to be performed continuously since initial phase. The satellite simulator emulates the on-board computer, I/O modules, electronics and payloads, and it can be easily adapted and changed on hardware configuration change. It supports the debugging and test facilities for software engineers to develop flight software. Also the flight software can be loaded without any modification and can be executed as faster than real-time. This paper presents the architecture and design of software-based GEO satellite simulator which has hot-standby redundancy mechanism, and flight software development and test under this environment.

  • Nowadays, Mobile devices are now capable of supporting a wide range of applications. Unfortunately, some of applications demand an ever increasing computational power and mobile devices have limited resources due to their constraints, such as low processing power, limited memory, unpredictable connectivity, and limited battery life. To deal with mobile devices' constraints, researchers envision extending cloud computing services to mobile devices using virtualization techniques to shift the workload from mobile devices to a powerful computational infrastructure. Those techniques consist of migrating resource-intensive computations from a mobile device to the resource-rich cloud, or server (called nearby infrastructure). In this paper, we want to highlight on cloudlet architecture (nearby infrastructure with mobile devices), its functioning and in our future work, analyze effects of distance between cloudlet and mobile devices.

  • As the technical standard of hydrographic data was transferred from S-57 to S-101, a standard system was set up for producing the next generation ENCs but also various maritime safety information. ECDIS that display a S-57 ENC and include a navigation support function, should be developed considering new standard. S-10X data and e-Nav information can be used in this system. In this study, an implementation mechanism of S-100 standard was analyzed for design of navigation support system based on S-100. From the results, it was designed as loading module of S-10X data, display module of SENC, navigation supporting module. Also, this study considered a next generation ENC, a bathymetric grid data, an electronic nautical publication as an input information.

  • Web based simulation service is utilized to computationally analyze various phenomena in real world according to the progress of network and computing technology. In this paper, we present an improvement and utilization of e-AIRS (e-Science Aerospace Integrated Research System). e-AIRS, has been utilized to support web based CFD simulation service since 2008. has some problems such as stable system, pre processing, post processing. To solver this problem, we improved e-AIRS such as distributed service processing, personal simulation job assignment control, and faster data loading. After improvement, although users increase from 110 to 606, the priority of user requirements is changed from stable system to pre/post processor. User requirements and statistics about e-AIRS simulation service for each semester is analyzed to support more stable and comfortable service.

  • LTE and Wi-Fi networks provide wireless communication services to passengers in subway where the number of network access fluctuates according to passenger movement. While the number of network access increase, LTE can provide stable communication service but Wi-Fi suffers temporal access delay to network. This paper analyzes the increase in access delay of Wi-Fi network according to increasing user in subway section by making mathematical modeling of Wi-Fi network and simulation study. The access delay characteristics of Wi-Fi network is measured along an subway line and the results are compared to the theoretical study. These results can be applied to the connection method to build an efficient network structure between LTE and Wi-Fi interworking network and the future introduction of LTE-R.

FastIO: High Speed Launching of Smart TV Apps (FastIO: 스마트 TV 앱의 고속 구동 기법)

  • Smart TV uses Webkit as a web browser engine to provide contents such as web surfing, VOD watching, and games. Webkit uses web resources, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and images, in order to run applications. At the start of an application, Webkit loads resources to the memory and creates DOM tree and render tree, which is a time consuming process. However, DOM tree and render tree created by the smart TV application do not change over time because the smart TV application uses web resources stored in a disk. If DOM tree and render tree can be stored and reused, it is possible to reduce loading time of an application. In this paper, we propose FastIO technique that selectively adds persistency to dynamically allocated memory. FastIO reduces overall application loading time by eliminating the process of loading resources from storage, parsing the HTML documents, and creating DOM tree and render tree. Comparison of the application resource loading times indicates that the web browser with FastIO is 7.9x, 44.8x, and 2.9x faster than the legacy web browser in an SSD, Ramdisk, and eMMC environment, respectively.

  • We introduce a new satellite Conditional Access System(CAS) that a subscriber could watch a pay-TV knowing only his or her identity and password, without using a smart card. For this new system, two password-based protocols are presented which not only share a session key and authenticate each other but also download an authorization key. This system has some merits: First, compared with current systems, it reduces the amount of computations by eliminating the AK-encryption module in SMS(Subscriber Management System) and simplifying the receiver's CW-decryption process. Second, since this system does not need an expensive Card Adaptive Device(CAD), it can reduce costs. finally it provides descrambler independence allowing it to be used through any TV set-top box that includes a descrambler, unlike the current system that a descrambler is linked with a smart card.

An Improvement in Loading Speed Using RAM-based Java Card Installer (RAM기반 자바카드 인스톨러를 이용한 로딩속도 개선)

  • Java Card has gained genera1 acceptance with standard for smart card and (U)SIM technology, and it is in distinction from native card by its post-issuance of an application and independence from hardware platforms. However, a main weak point of Java Card is its low execution speed caused by the hardware limitation and Java programming language itself. In this paper, we propose a new Java Card Installer to improve the download speed during the post-issuance of an application by resolving symbolic references to physical references in HAM. Our Resolution_In_RAM is based on the improved new RAM writing is 100,000 times faster than EEPROM writing and PageBuffer that is operated as block mode, rather than cell mode is used to write to EEPROM. Consequently, the total number of EEPROM writing are reduced 37%, and the times of downloading are reduced over 30% by using the Resolution_In_RAM-based Java Card Installer.

  • 호스트와 타겟 간의 통신 부담과 타겟 자원이 제한적이라는 문제를 해결하기 위해서, 호스트 중심 원격 개발 환경(Remote Development Environment: RDE)을 구성하였다. 이 원격 개발 환경은 여러 개발 도구로 구성되어 있는데, 이들 도구가 타겟시스템에 접속하여 내장형 응용를 개발하는데 있어서 공통 기능, 공통 데이터가 존재한다. 그런데 이들을 각각 유지시키는 것은 타겟시스템에 부담을 줄 뿐만 아니라, 개발 도구를 추가/구현하는 것도 매우 어렵게 한다. 이 문제를 해결하기 위해 원격 개발 도구들의 공통 요소들을 모아 도구와 타겟시스템 사이에 중개자 역할을 하는 타겟관리자를 둔다. 타겟관리자는 미들웨어로서 호스트와 타겟 간의 통신 채널을 하나로 유지하면서 도구와 타겟 간의 통신을 중재하고, 도구들이 심볼 테이블을 공유할 수 있도록 심볼 테이블을 관리한다. 또한, 타겟에 있는 도구 전용 메모리를 관리하며, 호스트 상에서 개발한 내장형 소프트웨어를 타겟에 로딩하는 일을 처리한다. 이러한 타겟관리자를 사용하는 원격 개발 환경은 도구들에게 공통 인터페이스를 제공하여, 통신 방식 등의 하부 구조에 상관없이 서비스를 받을 수 있고, 새로운 도구를 추가하는 것도 용이하게 할 수 있다는 장점을 갖게 된다. 본 논문에서는 ETRI 에서 개발 중인 실시간 운영 체제인 Q+용 타겟관리자를 설계하고 구현한다. 또한, 타겟관리자가 동작하게 될 내장형 실시간 응용 개발 환경에 대하여 소개하고, 구현 결과를 도구들과 연계하여 보여주며, 타겟 관리자를 둔 원격 개발 환경이 타겟 관리자를 두지 않은 경우에 비해 호스트와 타겟 간의 통신 횟수가 얼마나 감소하는지 시험 결과를 통해 보여준다. 현재 타겟 관리자의 프로토타입을 개발하여 도구들과 통합 시험을 하였는데 기본 기능들이 성공적으로 수행됨을 확인하였다.

Effect of Particle Loading Ratio on Fluid Characteristics and Particle Distribution in Particle-laden Coaxial Jet (입자부상 동축 분사기에서 입자로딩비가 유동 특성과 입자분포에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구)

  • Experimental research on characteristics of particle-laden jet by using a coaxial injector was conducted in order to design fuel and oxidizer injectors of the supercavitation underwater vehicle. $1{\mu}m$ and $42{\mu}m$ particles was simultaneously injected to obtain particle and fluid velocity. Small particles($1{\mu}m$) and large particles represent fluid and fuel characteristics respectively. Small particles, which was processed using PIV algorithms, and one for the large particles processed using PTV algorithms. Fluid phase axial velocity increases according to particle loading ratio increases, and particles are located at the outside of the high vorticity region in a mixing layer of a coaxial injector.
