A Study on the Kiosk UI Reflecting the Elderly's Characteristics (고령자의 특성을 반영한 패스트푸드점 키오스크 UI 연구)

  • This study was conducted to improve the use experience of elderly people in fast food kiosks which are actively utilizing 'un-tact' technology. First, the Kiosk design analysis criteria were discussed through literature research. Then, the UI screens of McDonald's, Lotteria and Burger King, which are currently serving kiosks in Korea, were divided into colors, layouts and buttons. Next, the usability evaluation and survey of the elderly revealed problems with the interface design of the current kiosk. As a result, older people do not recognize buttons without an outline as buttons, and errors occur when layout changes or when viewing is complicated. In addition, horizontal navigation and vertical layout menus were error-free, and the design of buttons was error-free with the same color for the same function. Research shows that the Kiosk UI design is preferred by older people. First, buttons in the form of outline or solid are recommended. Second, vertical binding of buttons combined with images and text is recommended. Third, the screen layout should be consistent with the direction of view flow and manipulation, and should avoid increasing the number of menus and information. Fourth, page navigation is recommended in horizontal form and menu arrangement is vertical form. Finally, buttons that perform the same function are efficient for buttons to use the same color, and for different functions, applying a complementary colors can reduce confusion.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide design guidelines on office layouts to improve workers' concentration and communication behavior while supporting work processes. Among the present office types, benzene-type was preferred the most was providing better concentration. Regarding communication, link and benzene were preferred types. In present office types, workers were satisfied in communication more than concentration. To increase concentration level, acoustical privacy was indicated as the most important factor In conclusion, to support both concentration and communication in office, the team area should be divided into smaller sub-team areas. The sub-team areas may support interaction within a group while preventing unnecessary distraction. The major circulation of work process should be formed outside of the sub-team areas to provide concentration within the groups.

  • Recently, common users are familiar with the various dynamic displays and interfaces owing to the developments of web browser and Flash. As Flash also has become popular, it has attracted more application of many users, which nowadays makes them focus on the unique characteristics of web - the interactive and dynamic design. Therefore, this dissertation performs the type-analysis of the layouts and the understanding of the actual condition for the existing interactive-sites, followed by the considering of the design-related methodology and the utility of Flash program.

  • HTML5의 표준 웹 환경 확산과 스마트폰 점유율 상승과 더불어 다양한 디바이스에서도 동일한 화면을 제공하는 반응형 웹이 부각되고 있다. 반응형 웹을 적용하는 사이트가 지속적으로 증가하고 있으며, 특정 분야에 치중되지 않고 다양한 분야에서 활용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 반응형 웹 디자인을 위한 주요 기법들에 대해 기술하고, 이를 기반으로 WYSIWYG HTML5 저작도구에서 컨텐츠별 페이지 레이아웃 설계 없이 태블릿과 모바일 페이지를 자동으로 생성할 수 있는 사용자 직관적인 반응형 레이아웃을 설계하였다.

  • To achieve the advertising objectives, we must first draw out consumer's advertisingto advertising, and then realize the data processing course from comprehension to the retention of the advertising contents. In current media environment, however, the value of advertising as the method of attracting consumer's attention is declining due to the current situation of newspaper and magazine advertising as follows. As for newspapers, competitive messages are increasing on a continuous basis; the size of advertising section and the number of newspaper pages has been increased along with the popularization of color advertising. As for magazines, more pages are allocated for advertising rather than for the actual contents. In such communication environment, it is believed that only the advertising capable of uniquely appealing to consumers can achieve the purpose of advertising. Hence, this research attempts to discuss the effective ways of promoting attention in print media through the case studies covering the design principles relating to layout and the layout format, among the visualization processes related to the consumers'memory.

This paper has conducted the contents and visual points of view in webmagazine. Through case study, the following and identify for the analysis of the webmagazine contents and visual format. Firstly, communication at webmagazine is carried out at the user-centered atmosphere. Secondly, Even through an aesthetic is emphasized in the webmagazine, when web designer compose of the web site, it is necessary to find the proper methodology under the basis of user's behavior. Thirdly, Although webmagazine required the visual form, we should know that the evaluation of webmagazine should be implemented by users. Therefore, webmagazine should be designed by the user-centered layout.

  • This study conducted an actual condition survey with users in order to examine the Graphic User Interface (GUI) design appearing in fast food Digital Information Display (DID). Selecting four restaurants with high sales in the hamburger industry in 2017, including Lotteria, McDonald's, Burger King, and Mom's Touch, based on this, this study investigated and analyzed GUI visual components appearing in DID, including layout, character, color, graphics, and videos based on this. As a result, this study could propose a design plan providing users with the layout that can be clearly and neatly divided, characters attracting attention with high readability, colors with high visibility, graphics attract interest, and videos with various contents, rather than a complex approach for efficient GUI design, analyzing the environmental factors of fast food restaurants.
