Study on MMTI Signal Processing Algorithm and Analysis of the Performance for Periscope Detection in Airborne Radar (항공용 레이다를 이용한 잠망경 탐지 MMTI 신호처리 기법 연구 및 성능 분석)

  • This paper describes an MMTI(Maritime Moving Target Indicator) for periscope detection in airborne radar. Firstly, we analyze the characteristics of sea clutter, sea targets. Secondly, we study the differences between GMTI(Ground Moving Target Indicator) and MMTI. This paper proposes an optimal MMTI operating environment and method. We also suggest a signal processing algorithm using STAP(Space-Time Adaptive Processing) for detecting small RCS target moving low speed. The detection probability for moving target with MDV(Minimum Detectable Velocity) is simulated under various RCS and multi-channel system. Finally, we analyze the major performance for range, velocity and azimuth accuracy.

Analysis of Target Identification Performances Using Bistatic ISAR Images (바이스태틱 ISAR 영상을 이용한 표적식별 성능 분석)

  • Inverse synthetic aperture radar(ISAR) image generated from bistatic radar(Bi-ISAR) represents two-dimensional scattering distribution of a target, and the Bi-ISAR can be used for bistatic target identification. However, Bi-ISAR has large variability in scattering mechanisms depending on bistatic configurations and do not represent exact range-Doppler information of a target due to inherent distortion. Thus, an efficient training DB construction is the most important factor in target identification using Bi-ISARs. Recently, a database construction method based on realistic flight scenarios of a target, which provides a reliable identification performance for the monostatic target identification, was applied to target identification using high resolution range profiles(HRRPs) generated from bistatic radar(Bi-HRRPs), to construct efficient training DB under bistatic configurations. Consequently, high identification performance was achieved using only small amount of training Bi-HRRPs, when the target is a considerable distance away from the bistatic radar. Thus, flight scenarios based training DB construction is applied to target identification using Bi-ISARs. Then, the capability and efficiency of the method is analyzed.

  • In this work, the solvent permeation and separation performance of organic solvent nanofiltration (OSN) membranes were evaluated. Particularly, the PuraMem (PM) series developed for nonpolar solvents were analyzed and tested in dead-end filtration system. PM membranes exhibited higher permeance for nonpolar solvents compared to polar solvents, and their rejection data did not follow conventional trends with respect to solute size. The data showed that simple solution-diffusion model is not suitable to describe the OSN membrane behavior, and a better solvent-solute-membrane interaction parameter must be developed.

  • In a TDD system, the length of slots can be unequal, and the number of downlink (DL) and uplink (UL) slots per frame can be different as well. The advantage of using TDD is the capability to accommodate asymmetric high-bit-rate services for the DL and It, which will be one of the prominent features in 4G systems. This paper analyzes the performance of TDD system on mobile channel environments like indoor pedestrian and vehicular channel, and proposes optimum modulation/demodulation method in TDD system. A rectangular QAM (RQAM) used in various communication systems has good BER performance but the much more signal amplitudes also have become one of the barriers to implement receiver. While PSK receiver is implemented easily because it has a constant amplitude, but it's BER performance is worse than RQAM. APSK proposed in this paper integrates merits of RQAM and PSK, and minimizes demerits of then And a simple method is also proposed to demodulate the soft symbol. The results indicate that the proposed APSK has a little worse performance than RQAM but the dynamic range of APSK is about 4 dB, 8 dB better than RQAM at 16-ary, 64-ary modulation/demodulation respectively.

  • 사람 얼굴 생성을 목적으로 하는 Generative Adversarial Network(GAN)에서 판별자(discriminator)의 각 레이어에 대한 스펙트럴 정규화(spectral normalization) 적용에 따른 출력 이미지의 결과를 비교하였다. 또한 생성자(generator)에 적응 인스턴스 정규화(Adaptive Instance Normalization) 모듈의 삽입에 따른 출력 이미지의 결과를 기존 모델과 비교하고 분석하였다.

  • Recently, the SAR-GMTI mode is becoming increasingly essential in airborne radar systems. While SAR requires wideband waveforms for high resolution imaging, GMTI requires narrowband waveforms for doppler processing, which makes general LFM waveforms difficult to use for SAR-GMTI. This paper analyses the FJB(Frequency Jump Burst) waveform, which is studied for the SAR-GMTI waveform, and presents the method for the pulse compression and SAR image formation using FJB waveforms. Simulation results show that there is little difference in performances between the FJB waveform and the LFM waveform.

  • In this paper, we have analyzed a performance of fast frequency hopping communication systems when a rayleigh fading caused by envelope variations of a signal received in multipath channel is, but it is not considered that intentional or unintentional jamming can be. The multipath fading channel and rayleigh fading are confirmed by theoretical analysis. In fading or non-fading, the performance of this system is studied. When the path diversity is applied to this system, the performance is shown to be superior to non-diversity systems about 20dB. For modulation methods, BFSK was compared with DPSK.

Design and Evaluation of IMI Multilayer Hybrid Structure-based Performance Enhanced Surface Plasmon Resonance Sensor for Biological Analysis (생물학적 분석용 IMI 하이브리드 다중레이어 구조 기반 성능 향상된 표면 플라즈몬 공명 센서의 설계 및 특성 분석)

  • The performance of a surface plasmon resonance sensor is evaluated based on the sensitivity (nm/RIU) and sharpness from the full width at half maximum (FWHM) and the peak depth of a resonance peak. These factors are determined by the materials and conformational properties of the sensing structure. In this paper, we investigated an optimized insulator-metal-insulator (IMI) multilayer-based surface plasmon resonance sensor structure to simultaneously achieve high sensitivity, narrow FWHM, and deep peak depth while using gold for the metallic film layer which occurs peak broadening. By adopting the optimized structure, sensitivity of 8,390 nm/RIU, FWHM of 11.92 nm, and a resonance peak depth of 93.1% were achieved for 1.45-1.46 refractive index variation of the sensing layer. With the suggested structure conformation, high sensitivity and resolution of sensing performance can be achieved.

  • A forward-looking automotive radar typically utilizes the frequency modulated continuous wave(FMCW) or pulsed-Doppler waveform for the Information acquisition of the target range and velocity. In order to obtain the high resolution target information, however, a narrow pulse width and wide bandwidth are inherently required, thus resulting in high peak power and high speed digital converter processing. In this paper, a stepped-frequency pulsed-Doppler(SFPD) waveform algorithm is proposed for high resolution forward looking automotive radar application. The performance of the proposed SFPD waveform technique is analyzed and compared with the conventional FMCW and PD method. Since this technique can be used for the high resolution target imaging with arbitrary range and Doppler resolution, it is expected to be useful In automotive radar target classification for the precision collision avoidance applications in the future.
