A Study on an Analysis of Core Information Literacy Competencies for Information Literacy Instruction of Undergraduate Students in Design Discipline (디자인분야 대학생의 정보문해 교육을 위한 핵심 정보문해능력 분석에 관한 연구)

  • Design discipline requires more specialized and sophisticated information literacy competencies necessary to effectively find and apply the information that students need for their teaming and the future independent designer than are outlined in general information literacy competencies. Therefore, The goals of this study is to identify specific information literacy competencies within the Design Discipline. This research analyzed design-specific core information literacy competencies through the literature analysis on the design goals & curriculum of four domestic universities and the NASAD standards & guidelines and verified those by Delphi Survey. The result showed that design discipline requires commonly 26 specific core competencies in seven broad categories and the these competencies are related to the time for information literacy Instruction. Also, The result analyzed that such majors in design as product design, visual design, need additionally more specialized and detailed competencies with specific focus and that design discipline requires commonly the information literacy competencies about general studies & fundamental ability.

  • The considerable increase of the elderly with dementia is expected annually and when we think about the family members' and the patients' suffering, it could be painful. Above all things, it imposes heavy economic burdens on the family members that have patients who suffer from diseases of age like dementia or paralysis that caring them at home and also, it is not desirable for those old people in point of physical or environmental circumstances for medical care. Thus, it is needed urgently that the expansion of specified facilities and improvement of services for these old people. Under this present condition, it is the special feature that the subject of research is people/facilities that offer services, not the elderly with dementia-the main user of those facilities. Thus, it is the time that we need various accessing plans that can grasp the patiences' activities and specialties and solve these problems in view of designing interior space. So, I tried to make designs that manage the elderly with dementia effectively and adequate to run facilities with considerations on the state of domestic specialized long-term care facilities for the elderly with dementia and researched guiding principles on physical healing surroundings with analysis that focused on the patients' activities, especially.

  • Elicitation of design concepts is the most important process in web-site design, but it is not an easy task to average designers. In this paper, we have analyzed most of the good web designs and classified them into seven large categories mainly based on design elements. This framework will give a guidance to average designers to easily tackle the elicitation process of web design concepts.

Design Guideline Development for Managed Lane Access Spacing Using Gap Acceptance Theory (간격수락 이론을 이용한 다인승전용차로 진.출입을 위한 도로 디자인 지침정립)

  • The principal objective of this paper is to develop road design guidelines, especially for managed lane access spacing between the expressway on-ramp (or off-ramp) and managed lane access point. Managed lanes are typically located in the expressway median and are accessed by weaving across the mainlines. The high level of lane-changing activity present in weaving areas affects capacity significantly. One promising tool for the analysis of lane-changing activity is "gap acceptance theory." This paper estimates the capacity of weaving areas based on the estimated degree of traffic turbulence using gap acceptance theory. The degree of traffic turbulence is represented by a function of the probability that lane-changing vehicles can complete their maneuvers successfully in a given weaving distance. In developing road design guidelines based on the developed gap acceptance model, the minimum managed lane access spacing is determined where the capacity with respect to the managed lane access spacing becomes stable.

A Study on Interior Design Improvement of the Accommodation Area in RO-PAX Ships (로팍스여객선 거주구 실내디자인 개선방안에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate user satisfaction by identifying the problems and suggesting Improvement plans of interior design in the accommodation area of Ro-Pax ships. First, the characteristics of Ro-P ax ships' accommodation area through previous studies and references, and then a field survey was conducted on seven kinds of Ro-Pax ships. Based on the field study, a questionnaire survey was administered targeting 38 experts involved in passenger ships who indicated that public facilities were the most unsatisfactory of interior design in accommodation areas. As a result of Multiple Linear Regression Analysis, the satisfaction of color showed the highest influence on user satisfaction in accommodation areas, and required the standard of the interior design in accommodation areas. The suggested results of research were the types and layout of public facilities, improvement of color design, provision of interior design standard for accommodation areas, and improvement plans for interior design of Ro-Pax ships.

A Study on the Safety-Maximizing Design of Exclusive Bus Lanes (안전성 제고를 위한 버스전용차로 디자인 연구)

  • Exclusive bus lane (EBL) is typically located in the roadway median, and is accessed by weaving across the GPLs(general purpose lanes) before entering from the left lane of the GPLs. To maximize the potential for successful EBL operations, a critical design issue that requires special attention is the length of bus weaving section before entering EBL. The process of developing guidelines for the length of bus weaving section can be supported by a sensitivity analysis of performance measure (safety) with respect to the bus weaving distance. However, field data are difficult to obtain due to inherent complexity in creating performance measure (safety) samples under various interesting flows and bus weaving distance that are keys to research success. In this paper, VISSIM simulation is applied to simulate the operation of roadway weaving areas with EBL, and based on vehicle trajectory data from microscopic traffic simulation models, the Surrogate Safety Assessment Model (SSAM) computes the number of surrogate conflicts (or degree of safety) with respect to the bus weaving distance. Then, a multiple linear regression (MLR) model using safety data (number of surrogate conflicts) is developed. Finally, guidelines for bus weaving distance are established based on the developed MLR. Developed guidelines explicitly indicate that a longer bus weaving distance is required to maintain desired safety as weaving volume increases.

  • 본 연구의 제 1보에서는 꽃문양 스카프 디자인의 두 레이아웃 변인 (모티브 크기와 반복 배열 방식)의 변화에 따른 소비자 감성을 실증적으로 분석하고,이러한 분석결과를 시장현황 조사 결과와 비교함으로써 꽃문양 스카프 디자인의 레이아웃에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 제 2보네서는 제 1보의 결과를 토대로 하여, 소비자의 감성을 만족시키는 꽃문양 스카프 디자인을 위한 지침과 디자인의 프로토타입을 제시하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 꽃문양 스카프 디자인의 레이아웃 기법이 감성에 미치는 효과에 대하여 실증적으로 접근함으로써, 스카프 디자인에 있어 레이아웃 기법 전개에 관련된 실증적 지표를 얻을 수 있었다. 또한 사변적 또는 미학적 접근이 주류를 이루었던 기존의 스카프 디자인 연구 분야에 새로운 접근방법을 제시함으로써 최근 주목받고 있는 감성과학 이론이 섬유 제품 디자인 개발에 유용한 방편으로 적용될 수 있는가에 관한 가능성을 타진하였다.
