Longitudinal Control of Acceleration Lanes and its Impact on Congestion Alleviation (가속차로의 길이 제어와 고속도로 접속부 혼잡저감 효과)

  • This paper introduces the dynamic control of acceleration lanes at freeway-ramp junctions. The feasibility of operation with flexible length of acceleration lane was tested with most possible traffic conditions. The operational qualify was also evaluated using average speed and total thru-put at both ramp section and freeway section. A CORSIM microscopic simulation model was used to evaluate the operation quality with a variety or volume conditions and three acceleration lanes, each representing different length categories. In addition, tollgate O-D data including travel times were obtained for two sections on the Gyeong-bu Freeway where an effective merging distance has been largely reduced. Its effect was analyzed and compared to the simulation results. Finally, the effects of acceleration lane are discussed and operational improvement at junctions is presented as research findings.

  • 본 논문에서는 멀티미디어 프로세서의 특성을 반영한 프로세서 스케줄러를 설계하고 실제 구현을 통해 성능을 분석하였다. 제안한 프로세서 스케줄링 기법은 주기가 짧은 프로세서에 높은 우선순위를 부여하지만 우선 순위를 결정하기 위한 주기를 이전 작업의 주기에 위해 동적으로 계산하고 프로세서의 수행 중의 중단을 제한함으로써 Rate Monotonic 알고리즘을 동적이고 비중단적으로 수정하였다. 제안한 스케줄링 기법은 BSD를 기초로 한 운영체제인 FreeBSD 상에서 구현하여 스케줄링의 성능을 평가하였다. 제안한 스케줄러에 대한 실험에서 FreeBSD 스케줄러에 비해 멀티미디어의 실시간적인 특성을 만족하면서 수행 중의 동적인 상황 변화에 적응된 결과를 보인다.

  • 본 연구는 프랜차이즈 가맹본부 실무자를 대상으로 한 교육 과정 개발의 방향을 의미 네트워크분석을 통해 밝히기 위해 프랜차이즈 CEO 그룹, 실무자 그룹을 대상으로 동적집단 면접(DGI)을 실시하였다. 실무자 대상 교육에 있어서 의사결정자인 CEO 그룹과 교육 당사자인 실무자의 교육에 대한 의견을 종합하여 교육의 개발 방향을 종합하였다. 연구결과 프랜차이즈 교육의 개선 방향으로 1) 교육의 전문화와 세분화, 2) 프랜차이즈 내부 노하우의 공유 및 이전, 3) 교육 운영 과정의 현장 지향성의 세 가지가 도출되었다.

  • 능동형 Secure OS 시스템은 운영체제 커널에 접근 제어, 사용자 인증, 감사 추적, 암호화 파일 시스템, 신뢰 채널, 동적 구성 등의 보안 기능을 추가 구현하여 시스템에 발생 가능한 해킹을 방지하고 차단하는 시스템을 말한다. 이러한 능동형 Secure OS 시스템은 시스템 해킹을 탐지하거나 시스템 해킹을 감지하였을 때 동적으로 구성을 바꾸는 등의 조치를 취하는 시스템 기능이 필요하다. 본 고에서는 능동형 Secure OS의 주요 기능과 함께 핵심 기술의 구현 내용을 기술하며, 시스템내의 감사 추적 기능에 의해 능동적으로 시스템을 구성하고 실시간 조치가 가능하도록 한 능동형 Secure OS 시스템을 소개한다.

Deriving a Reservoir Operating Rule ENSO Information (ENSO 정보를 이용한 저수지 운영울의 산출)

  • Analyzing monthly inflows of the Chung-Ju Dam associated with EI Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO), Kim and Lee(2000) reported that the fall and winter inflows in EI Nino years tended to be low while those in La Nina years tended to be high. This study proposes a methodology of employing such a teleconnection between ENSO and inflow in reservoir operations. The ENSO information is used as a hydrologic state variable in stochastic dynamic programming (SDP) to derive a monthly optimal rule for operating the Chung- Ju Dam. An alternative operating rule is also derived with the SDP with no hydrologic state variable. Both of the SDP operating rules are simulated and compared to examine the value of using the ENSO information in operations of the Chung-Ju Dam. The simulation results show that the operating rule using the ENSO information increases energy generation and reliability of water supply as well as reduces spill. spill.

  • The transportation network is a critical infrastructure in the event of natural and human caused disasters such as rainfall, snowfall, and terror and so on. Particularly, the transportation network in an urban area where a large number of population live is subject to be negatively affected from such events. Therefore, efficient traffic operation plans are required to assist rapid evacuation and effective detour of vehicles on the network as soon as possible. Recently, ubiquitous communication and sensor network technology is very useful to improve data collection and connection related emergency information. In this study, we develop a specific algorithm to provide evacuation route and detour information only for vehicles under emergency situations. Our algorithm is based on shortest path search technique and dynamic traffic assignment. We perform the case study to evaluate model performance applying hypothetical scenarios involved terror. Results show that the model successfully describe effective path for each vehicle under emergency situation.

Incorporating Climate Change Scenarios into Water Resources Management (기후 변화를 고려한 수자원 관리 기법)

  • This study reviewed the recent studies for the climate change impact on water resource systems and applied one of the techniques to a real reservoir system - the Skagit hydropower system in U.S.A. The technique assumed that the climate change results in ±5% change in monthly average and/or standard deviation of the observed inflows for the Skagit system. For each case of the altered average and standard deviation, an optimal operating policy was derived using s SDP(Stochastic Dynamic Programming) model and compared with the operating policy for the non-climate change case. The results showed that the oparating policy of the Skagit system is more sensitive to the change in the streamflow average than that in the streamflow standard deviation. The derived operating policies were also simulated using the synthetic streamflow scenarios and their average annual gains were compared as a performance index. To choose the best operating policy among the derived policies, a Bayesian decision strategy was also presented with an example. Development of an Algorithm for Dynamic Traffic Operations of Freeway Climbing Lane Toward Traffic Safety (교통안전성을 고려한 고속도로 오르막차로 동적운영 알고리즘 개발)

  • Interest in freeway truck traffic has increased largely due to greater safety concerns regarding truck-related crashes. The negative interactions between slow-moving trucks and other vehicles are a primary cause of hazardous conditions, which lead to crashes with larger speed variations. To improve operational efficiency and safety, providing a climbing lane that separates slow-moving trucks from higher performance vehicles is frequently considered when upgrading geometrics. This study developed an operations strategy for freeway climbing lanes based on traffic conditions in real time. To consider traffic safety when designing a dynamic strategy to determine whether a climbing lane is closed or open, various factors, including the level of service (LOS) and the percentage of trucks, are investigated through microscopic simulations. A microscopic traffic simulator, VISSIM, was used to simulate freeway traffic streams and collect vehicle-maneuvering data. Additionally, an external application program interface, VISSIM's COM-interface, was used to implement the proposed climbing lane operations strategies. Surrogate safety measures (SSM), including the frequency of rear-end conflicts and, were used to quantitatively evaluate the traffic safety using an analysis of individual vehicle trajectories obtained from VISSIM simulations with various operations scenarios. It is expected that the proposed algorithm can be the backbone for operating the climbing lane in real time for safer traffic management.

Reservoir Operating System Using Sampling Stochastic Dynamic Programming for the Han River Basin (표본 추계학적 동적계획법을 사용한 한강수계 저수지 운영시스템 개발)

  • Korea water resources corporation (K-Water) has developed the real-time water resources management system for the Nakdong and the Geum River basin to efficiently operate multi-purpose dams in the basins. This study has extended to the Han River basin for providing an effective ending target storage of a month to the real-time water resources management system using Sampling Stochastic Dynamic Programming (SSDP), consequently increasing the efficiency of the reservoir system. The optimization model were developed for three reservoirs, named Soyang, Chungju, and Hwacheon, with high priority in terms of the amounts of effective capacity and water supply for the basin. The number of storage state variable for each dam to set an optimization problem has been assigned from the results of sensitivity analysis. Compared with the K-water operating policy with the target water supply elevations, the optimization model suggested in this study showed that the shortfalls are decreased by 37.22 MCM/year for the required water demands in the basin, even increasing 171 GWh in hydro electronic power generation. In addition, the result of a reservoir operating system during the drawdown period applied to real situation demonstrates that additional releases for water quality or hydro electronic power generation would be possible during the drawdown period between 2007 and 2008. On the basis of these simulation results, the applicability of the SSDP model and the reservoir operating system is proved. Therefore, the more efficient reservoir operation can be achieved if the reservoir operating system is extended further to other Korean basins.
