Design and Realization of Metal Waveguide Antenna for Improving Electric field Uniformity (전계분포 균일성 향상을 위한 철사 도파관 안테나 설계 및 제작)

  • 본 논문에서 하지 정맥 지료를 위한 마이크로파 시스템에서 사용될 가열 안테나의 전계 분포를 균일하게 형성시키기 위해 철사 도파관 안테나를 설계 및 제작하였다. 일반적인 도파관 안테나에 경우 안테나 중심 부분에 전계가 가장 세게 분포되어 온도가 다른 곳에 비해 차이가 많이 나므로 인체 피부가 회상을 입힐 위험이 있다. 제안된 철사 도파관 안테나는 끝단에 가느다란 철을 이용하여 전기장을 철사 부분에 집중시켜 안테나 중앙 부분에 집중된 전기장을 분산되도록 설계하였다. 따라서 전기장을 소스로 하는 온도도 균일하게 분포하게 된다. 제안된 철사 도파관 안테나 내부의 전계 분포는 Ansoft 사의 HFSS, 온도 분포는 CST 사의 MWS(Microwave Studio)를 이용하여 시뮬레이션을 하였고, 일반적인 안테나 경우보다 더 균일한 전계와 온도 분포 특성을 보임을 확인하였다. 제작된 철사 안테나는 사용주파수 15GHz에서 -10dB 이하의 반사 손실을 보였다. 또한 안테나 타당성을 검증하기 위해 개구면 앞에 돼지 껍데기를 두고 일정시간 가열하여 일반 안테나와 제안된 철사 도파관 안테나 온도 분포를 비교하였다. 열화상 카메라를 이용한 실험결과 일반 안테나에 경우 중앙과 가장 자리부분 사이에 약 $29^{\circ}C$, 제안된 철사 도파관 안테나에 경우에는 약 $12.5^{\circ}C$의 차이를 보였다. 이를 통해 제안된 철사 도파관 안테나가 전계 분포 균일성 향상에 기여함을 확인하였다.

Application of Expanding-cell FDTD Method to Microstrip-to-Waveguide Transition (Expanding-cell 유한차분법의 마이크로스트립-도파관 변환기에의 적용)

  • In this paper, we design and analyze a Ka-band microstrip line to rectangular waveguide transition using the expanding-cell FDTD method. The transition under investigation consists of a ridged waveguide, microstrip line, and $\lambda$/4 Chebyshev impedance transformer. To improve the accuracyand efficiency, the expanding-cell FDTD method is applied to analyze the characteristics of a ridged waveguide impedance transformer. To verify the accuracy of the expanding-cell FDTD method, S parameters of the analyzed transition are compared with those of experimental data. The efficiency of the present approach is verified by comparing the computational time for expanding-cell and that for fine cell. The relation between the number of step and operation bandwidth is analyzed by comparing the characteristics of four and three step Chebyshev waveguide impedance transformer.

  • 본 논문에서는 T형 분기 도파관 내 Septum의 최적설계를 위하여 상용 전자파해석 소프트웨어의 API(Application Program Interface) 기능을 활용하는 VBA(Visual Basic Application) 기반 설계 인터페이스를 개발 하였다. 최적설계의 설계 변수는 도파관 내에서 Septum의 위치와 크기로 하였고, 목적 함수는 도파관의 반사계수($S_{11}$)를 가장 작게 하면서 T형 분기 도파관에서 출력되는 에너지를 2:1로 분배하도록 설정하였다. 목적함수는 본 논문에서 정한 함수이며 설계 목표에 따라 인터페이스 내에서 변경이 가능하다. 설계 인터페이스는 마이크로소프트사의 엑셀을 이용하였고 인터페이스 내에서는 사용자가 원하는 T형 분기 도파관의 크기 설계가 가능하며, 입력 port의 입력 모드를 설정하고, 해석 주파수를 선택하여 사용자가 정한 목적 함수에 맞는 최적화된 Septum의 크기와 도파관 내에서의 위치를 찾을 수 있게 하였다. 또한 사용자가 원하는 위치에서의 E Field, H Field, 전류 밀도를 크기 또는 복소수 형태의 수치 데이터로 획득할 수 있도록 설계하였다.

  • Based on characteristics of resonator in BPF, a resonant characteristic is obtained by using variation of characteristic impedance in rectangular waveguide. And we have designed and made a novel waveguide BPF with this phenomenon. This filter can be made with arbitrary lengths of rectangular waveguide resonators.

  • In this paper, the waveguide slot array antenna which is capable of wide beam steering and dual polarization is designed for an X band synthetic aperture radar. In order to improve the restriction of beam steering range and to remove the butterfly lobes, a typical waveguide slot array antenna has been modified. To implement dual polarization, rod excited waveguide slot elements and ridge waveguide slot elements are alternately arranged. Location of slots, inclination of rod and offset distance of slots are determined on using array characteristic and conductance constant with radiating power on slots. The designed antenna is manufactured and measured with Near-filed measurement method.

  • We present a novel method for simple and efficient analysis of the rectangular MQW waveguide. Preferentially two-dimensional structure is transformed into one-dimensional structure by using the effective index method. Then, the characteristic matrix of the resultant planar MQW waveguide is analyzed by scanning angle method. The effective index, modal intensity, and optical confinement factor of rectangular MQW waveguide can be effectively obtained by this method. Our simulation results show excellent agreement with the accurate solutions based on the finite element method. We also introduce the approximation methods for the analysis of rectangular MQW waveguide and investigate their validity. By using perturbation approach, modal power loss of guided wave in rectangular MQW waveguide is newly investigated and compared with the conventional method using the approximation of planar MQW waveguide.

  • The waveguide finite element (WFE) method is a useful numerical technique to investigate wave propagation along waveguide structures which have uniform cross-sections along the length direction ('x' direction). In the present paper, the vibration and radiated noise of the submerged pipe with fluid is investigated numerically by coupling waveguide finite elements and wavenumber boundary elements. The pipe and internal fluid are modelled with waveguide finite elements and the external fluid with wavenumber boundary elements which are fully coupled. In order to examine this model, the point mobility, dispersion curves and radiated power are calculated and compared for several different coupling conditions between the pipe and internal/external fluids.

  • In this paper, the non-resonant SWG(Slotted Waveguide) antenna with double slots in narrow wall of rectangular waveguide is designed. Because energy radiated from each slot depends upon inclination angle of slot of the designed antenna, inclination angle of each slot is controlled to satisfy the amplitude distribution for required sidelobe level. Instead of the conventional extraction method of slot conductance, this amplitude distribution is made by the proposed method, which employs far-field radiation pattern calculated by Fourier transform of aperture field distribution on slot. The non-resonant double SWG antenna is designed by the proposed method and is manufactured. The antenna performances are measured and compared with the simulated results.

  • In this paper, the single-layer slotted waveguide array antenna is designed, which consists of two par the slot plate and the structure of waveguide. The key difficulty in mass production is the realization of perfect electrical contact between the two parts. Therefore the single-layer slotted waveguide array antenna is presented with a dumbbell patch and a choke. The choke can prevent from the leakage between the slot plate and waveguide, while the choke in the adjacent waveguide incurs space dissipation. To reduce the spacing of antennas about a dumbbell patch is utilized. the 16${\times}$16 array antenna gain of 27.2 ㏈ with 45 % aperture efficiency is obtained.

  • In the digital waveguide theory, traveling waves are represented by general solution to the wave equation that is second-order linear partial differential equation. The movement of these waves can be implemented using only delay lines. An unit delay in the general digital waveguide describes a sampling time interval. However, in the space-based digital waveguide the unit delay implies the spatial sampling distance. In consideration of these differences between two models, it is known that the space-based digital waveguide model is adequate to synthesize pitch-shifted sounds such as vibrato because the propagation distance can be directly control. In this paper, the time-based digital waveguide model which also synthesizes pitch-shifted sounds is proposed and compared with space-based digital waveguide.
