Validity of Referral of High Risk Pregnancy in MCH Center (모자 보건 센터에서의 고위험 산모 의뢰 기준의 타당성)

  • To test the validity of referral of high risk pregnancy in the MCH Center, 6,017 pregnant women who visited MCH Center of South District Health Center for delivery between 1 April 1985 and 31 March 1987 were interviewed on arrival to obtain the data for demographic characteristics and obsteric history and traced to check the delivery outcome. Out of 5,820 women whose delivery outcomes were confrmed, 704 women(12.1%) were referred to other hospital or clinic for high risk factors. The proportion of poor delivery outcome(stillbirth, low birth weight and neonatal death) among referred cases was 4.4% while that of the women delivered at the MCH Center was 2.2% (p<0.01). Decision of the midwives for the referral of high risk pregnancy based on their clinical assessment was consistent with the delivery outcome (good or poor) in 86.5%. Major reasons for referral were premature rupture of membrane(46.5%) and cephalopelvic disproportion(20.0%) and the C-section rates for these cases were 10.1%, 17.6%, respectively. Discriminant analysis of the demographic characteristics and obstertric history for the discrimination of delivery outcome showed that gestational age had the highest discriminant function coefficient(0.88) and it was followed by parity(0.37) and maternal education(0.30). Referral of high risk pregnancy by the midwives based on their clinical assessment was considered to be reasonably valid. However, a risk scoring system for an MCH Center which can improve the validity may be developed if one applies the discriminant analysis for more comprehensive independent variable(including clinical assessment of midwife, demographic characteristics and obstetric history) and dependent variable (including medically indicated C-section, complication of pregnancy and delivery, stillbirth, low birth weight, neonatal death and maternal death).

The Development and Application of Bus Bunching Indices for Bus Service Improvement (버스서비스 개선을 위한 버스몰림지표 개발 및 적용)

  • As bus is realized by economical, environmental transportation that is available mass transport than car, various policy for improvement of services is achieved. As innovative public transportation systems like BMS (Bus Management System) have established, it is possible to manage bus service efficiently. However, the present bus service management system mainly focuses on enhancing service reliability represented by schedule adherence index. This study discusses the necessity of a special management for bus bunching phenomena at stops, and develops two kinds of bus bunching indices based on the Number of Berth and the Average Bus Arrival Rate. The bus bunching indices were measured by utilizing the bus operational information from BMS at the Seoul TOPIS(Transportation & Information Service). In order to evaluate the sensitivity of the Indices, the indices were applied to two different bus groups: buses on exclusive bus median lane, and regular (shared) lanes. As analysis result, is bunching as is near in downtown and is bunching to peak time morning than the afternoon. Compared with the schedule adherence index, the suggested indices were proved as an efficient complementary indices in the evaluation of the bus operational performance. The results of index comparison between exclusive bus median lane and shared lanes can promote the expansion of exclusive bus median lane. Moreover, it can also be used as a reference in deciding bus station scale including the Number of Berth and the route adjustment plan.

The Study on the Situation and Development of High Speed Rail in Each Countries (각국의 고속철도 현황과 발전에 관한 연구)

  • 우리나라는 2004년 4월 경부고속철도개통을 앞두고 마지막 준비를 하고 있다. 1964년10월 고속철도를 가장 먼저 개통한 일본을 비롯한 프랑스, 독일 등은 이미 고속철도가 철도교통의 중심은 물론 각국의 교통수송에 높은 비중을 차지하고 있다. 2001년에 일본이 경우 1일 773,951명을 수송하고 있으며, 프랑스는 228,714명을 수송하고 있다. 세계적으로도 고속철도는 2000년 현재 유럽이 15,350km, 아시아는 2,152,9km를 운영 중에 있는데 이는 2010년에는 유럽은 41,350km, 아시아는 4,755.7km로 증가될 전망이다. 특히 아시아는 2005년 10월 개통예정인 대만의 타이페이와 카오슝의 345km를 비롯하여, 중국은 상해~북경의 1,330km를 2008년 ㅂ구경올림픽에 맞추어 개통을 준비하고 있다. 일본, 프랑스, 독일 등 고속철도의 운영국가들은 고속철도수송의 수송량이 급격하게 증가하고 있다. 프랑스는 인기준으로 1996년에 비해 2001년에 49.3%, 독인은 1996년에 비해 2001년에 70.1%의 증가치를 보이고 있다. 철도수송에서의 고속철도의 비중도 높아 인${\cdot}$km기준으로 일본은 29%, 프랑스는 48.3%, 독일은 15.9%를 차지하고 있다. 이러한 고속철도가 발전한 요인은 항공기와도 경쟁이 될 정도의 빠른 속도와 안전, 높은 사회경제적 효과에 기인하고 있다. 고속철도의 비중이 높은 일본의 경우는 개통 이래 현재까지 약 62억명을 수송하고 있는데 사망사고는 한건도 없었다. 또한 1개 열차의 정시도착 오차는 24초에 불과하고, 항공기와도 경쟁력이 될 정도의 속도와 수송능력을 보유하고 있다. 실제로 500~700km구간에서 항공기와 고속철도이 경쟁이 치열한데 고속철도의 분담율이 67%를 차지하고 있다. 이러한 고속철도 발전으로 철도수송의 증가율에도 큰 영향을 미치고 있다. 프랑스와 독일의 경우는 자동차수송보다 철도수송이 최근 4년간 약 10%이상 증가하고 있는 것도 고속철도의 영향에 기인하고 있다. 고속철도의 또 다른 특징으로는 높은 유발수요효과로 일본의 신간선개통전후를 비교해 보면 예상치보다 약 6%~23%의 높은 수요유발효과를 보이고 있다. 이 결과 각궁의 고속철도는 매우 높은 수익성을 기록하고 있는데 일본은 개통 후 3년째 흑자를 기록하였고, 중국도 개통 후 7년에 단년도 흑자를 예상하고 있다. 이러한 고속철도의 발전에 기초해 유럽을 비롯하여, 아시아 등에서 고속철도의 건설이 더욱 가속화 될 것으로 예상되는데, 이러한 새로운 변화의 고속철도시대에 대비하여 우리나라도 장차 건설계획수립, 해외수출, 고속철도의 상호운영 등을 지금부터 계획을 수립하여 집행해야 할 것이다.

Effects of Handling and Transport Vehicle on Stress and Carcass Quality of Market Pigs (출하취급과 차량형태가 출하돈의 스트레스와 도체품질에 미치는 영향)

  • One hundred and forty-four cross-bred market pigs weighing approximately 110 kg were randomly divided into four groups in a 2 (handling stress; minimal vs stimulated) ${\times}$ 2 (transport vehicle type; enclosed box vs conventional open) factorial arrangement of treatments. The stimulated handling stress group received overally rough handling including electric prod stimulation during loading, transport and lairage at least once at each step. All the animals received 3-h lairage prior to slaughter. Blood and longissimus dorsi muscle (LM) samples were taken at slaughter and after overnight chilling of the carcass, respectively. Plasma concentrations of stress indicators glucose, cortisol, creatine kinase and lactate dehydrogenase were greater in the stimulated vs minimal handling stress group. There were no interactions between the handling stress and transport vehicle type in their effects on these blood variables. The incidence of pale, soft and exudative (PSE) carcass and drip loss of LM, 24-h postmortem LM pH and color including the lightness and redness were not affected by the handling stress and transport vehicle type. In conclusion, results suggest that rough handling inflicts a stimulated stress on the animal, which is manifested by increased blood concentrations of stress indicators, and therefore should be avoided for animal welfare.

Drying Characteristic of High Moisture Coal using a Flash Dryer (기류건조기를 이용한 고수분 석탄의 건조 특성)

  • Drying characteristic of high moisture coal using a 5 kg/hr bench scale flash dryer was investigated. Moisture content and heating value of raw coal as received basis were 29.74 wt% and 4,270 kcal/kg, respectively. Gas inlet temperature and gas inlet flow rate were $400{\sim}600^{\circ}C$ and 10~20 m/sec, respectively. The raw coal was ground and classified to the particle size range of $100{\sim}2,000{\mu}m$. The moisture removal rate of raw coal was dramatically increased with increasing gas inlet temperature and decreasing gas inlet flow rate. The heating value of dried coal was increased to 5,100~5,900 kcal/kg. To examine the chemical change on the surface of high moisture coal during flash drying process, FT-IR spectral analysis was carried out. As a result, major changes in hydroxyl, carboxyl and carbonyl peak was confirmed.

  • A mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a collection of mobile nodes without any fixed infrastructure or my form of centralized administration such as access points and base stations. The ad hoc on-demand distance vector routing (AODV) protocol is an on-demand routing protocol for MANETs, which is one of the Internet-Drafts submitted to the Internet engineering task force (IETF) MANET working group. This paper proposes a new multipath routing protocol called maximally disjoint multipath AODV (MDAODV), which exploits maximally node- and link-disjoint paths and outperforms the conventional multipath protocol based on AODV as well as the basic AODV protocol. The key idea is to extend only route request (RREQ) message by adding source routing information and to make the destination node select two paths from multiple RREQs received for a predetermined time period. Compared to the conventional multipath routing protocol, the proposed MDAODV provides more reliable and robust routing paths and higher performance. It also makes the destination node determine the maximally node- and link-disjoint paths, reducing the overhead incurred at intermediate nodes. Our extensive simulation study shows that the proposed MDAODV outperforms the conventional multipath routing protocol based on AODV in terms of packet delivery ratio and average end-to-end delay, and reduces routing overhead.

Freshness Prolongation of Crisphead Lettuce by Vacuum Cooling (진공예냉처리에 의한 양상치의 선도 연장)

  • The improvement of distribution system and freshness prolongation of crisphead lettuce were carried out through vacuum cooling and distribution under the low temperature. Lettuce that vacuum-cooled and transported by cold storage car was shown better freshness than that distributed by conventional method when they arrived at cunsuming area. And it took $10{\sim}17$ hours until their temperatures arrived at same temperatures when they were stored at $0{\sim}15^{\circ}C$ cold storage room. It was cooled to $1^{\circ}C$ after 27 minutes with vacuum cooling apparatus. The weight loss of lettuce that vacuum cooled and transported by cold storage car was below 5% after 30 days cold storage. And ascorbic acid and chlorophyll retentions were 86% and 52%, respectively. The shelf-life of crisphead lettuce, distributed by vacuum cooling and cold storage car transportation, was 5 days at $15^{\circ}C$ and over 40 days at $0^{\circ}C$, respectively. However, when it was distributed by conventional method, it was only 3 days at $15^{\circ}C$ and 20 days at $0^{\circ}C$, respectively.

Emergency angioembolization performed in a hemodynamically unstable patient with grade V liver injury: The benefit of emergency angioembolization without computed tomography (혈역학적으로 불안정한 grade V 간손상에서 시행한 응급 혈관색전술: 전산화단층 촬영 없이 시행한 응급 혈관색전술의 이점)

  • High-grade liver injury is associated with high morbidity and mortality rates. We report successful emergency angioembolization and early interventional radiology support to manage a high-grade liver injury in a 29-year-old man who presented following a fall during parachute training. Upon arrival, his blood pressure was 80/40 mmHg, and emergency ultrasonography showed a liver injury with perihepatic fluid collection. The patient's blood pressure reduced to 60/40 mmHg, and emergency angiography was performed without computed tomography (CT) (door to puncture time 36 min). After angioembolization, his blood pressure returned to 120/77 mmHg. Subsequent CT revealed no additional bleeding or hollow viscus injury. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and discharged without complications 30 days after admission. In this case, emergency angioembolization (without performing CT) could successfully and safely treat a hemodynamically unstable patient with a high-grade liver injury.

Measurement Technique of Indoor location Based on Markerless applicable to AR (AR에 적용 가능한 마커리스 기반의 실내 위치 측정 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose a measurement technique of indoor location based on markerless applicable to AR. The proposed technique has the following originality. The first is to extract feature points and use them to generate local patches to enable faster computation by learning and using only local patches that are more useful than the surroundings without learning the entire image. Second, learning is performed through deep learning using the convolution neural network structure to improve accuracy by reducing the error rate. Third, unlike the existing feature point matching technique, it enables indoor location measurement including left and right movement. Fourth, since the indoor location is newly measured every frame, errors occurring in the front side during movement are prevented from accumulating. Therefore, it has the advantage that the error between the final arrival point and the predicted indoor location does not increase even if the moving distance increases. As a result of the experiment conducted to evaluate the time required and accuracy of the measurement technique of indoor location based on markerless applicable to AR proposed in this paper, the difference between the actual indoor location and the measured indoor location is an average of 12.8cm and a maximum of 21.2cm. As measured, the indoor location measurement accuracy was better than that of the existing IEEE paper. In addition, it was determined that it was possible to measure the user's indoor location in real time by displaying the measured result at 20 frames per second.

Effects of Initial Responses in Steps for the Release Accidents of Hydrofluoric Acid (불산수용액 누출사고에 대한 초기대응 단계별 영향)

  • As hazardous chemicals are releasing in process industries such as chemical & petro-chemical plants, the importance of initial responses has been always emphasized. However, little attention of quantitative analysis of the consequence by different initial responses during releasing of the chemicals has been done. The main objective of current paper is to investigate the effects of initial responses for the release accidents of hydrofluoric acid. For this, a simplified equation that can easily calculate the effect distance by varying concentrations of hydrofluoric acid was firstly deduced. In addition, a causal loops for the initial response steps using the system dynamics technique was constructed during release of 50% hydrofluoric acid. The effect distances according to different scenarios of the initial actions were also quantitatively analyzed by applying the simplified equation to the causal map. As a result, the highest reduction rate on the maximum effect distance was obtained with 'start time of action after leak detection' being about 87% while the lowest was 'arrival time of professional response team' being about 50%, as expected. It is expected that the results gained from the current study can be helpful as of basics of the initial response to the workplace, dealing with the hydrofluoric acid.
